Wisconsin man sentenced to 7 years for selling fentanyl to undercover officer
MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) – A 49-year-old Wisconsin man was sentenced to over seven years in prison on Friday for selling fentanyl pills to an undercover police officer.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Wisconsin, Arminius D. Jones of Madison was sentenced to 87 months in federal prison for distributing fentanyl and possessing 40 grams or more of fentanyl intended for distribution.

Between May 15 and July 1, 2024, Jones sold fentanyl pills to an undercover officer in Madison on three occasions. On July 9, authorities searched his home and found approximately 7,000 fentanyl pills, money from the undercover sales, more than $2,000 in cash, and multiple digital scales and drug ledgers.
Police also found a handgun, a loaded extended magazine, and several boxes of ammunition within arm's reach of the drugs.

At sentencing, Chief U.S. District Judge James Peterson said Jones' drug dealing went beyond supporting a substance abuse habit and highlighted concerns about the dangers of fentanyl, its overdose potential, and Jones' exploitation of addiction. Peterson also cited the presence of the firearm as an aggravating factor in the case.
