The Vans Warped Tour at 30
On Saturday around 6:30 p.m., the Army celebrated its 250th anniversary with the largest display of military prowess in the nation's capital in more than three decades. About three miles west of the parade route, in the festival grounds adjacent to RFK Stadium, a man wearing a 'Make America Emo Again' T-shirt watched Sublime perform, singing along, 'I smoke two joints in time of peace and two in time of war.' After a five-year hiatus, the Vans Warped tour was, undoubtedly, back.

Retailers cash in on Army's 250th anniversary and "No Kings" protest
What to know about Trump's Army anniversary parade and "No Kings" protests What to know about Army anniversary parade What to know about Army anniversary parade Merchandise has cropped up for sale on Amazon, Temu and other online retailers in a move to cash in on two coinciding events: the Army's 250th anniversary parade and the "No Kings" protests against the Trump administration. For the Army's 250th anniversary, hundreds of items appeared for sale on Amazon and Etsy including T-shirts, hats, mugs and more. One T-shirt for sale on Amazon and Etsy, for example, reads "250 Years Defending Liberty" with the U.S. flag, while another commemorates "250 Years of Service" with the message, "Freedom Isn't Free." On China-based a seller shipping goods from a U.S.-based warehouse offers a T-shirt reading "No Kings in America" and featuring the Statue of Liberty and American flag for $5.20. On Amazon, a search for "No Kings" yielded 1,000 results. Much of the merchandise available on the e-commerce giant's site is printed on demand, meaning not in stock. Sellers print T-shirts or make the goods as soon as they are ordered to avoid sitting on unwanted inventory. Walmart, which has distanced itself from an ad promoting No Kings that was funded by Walmart heiress Christy Walton, offers a more limited amount of merchandise related to the events on its website. It's common for sellers to quickly mock up merchandise tied to current events. For example, retailers were quick to start selling apparel featuring images of President Trump with a bloodied ear after he was shot at a rally last year in an assassination attempt. The No Kings protests were scheduled to coincide with a military parade in Washington, D.C., celebrating the Army's 250th anniversary. The day was also President Trump's 79th birthday. Editor's note: This story has been updated with more information about the range of items for sale.

U.S. Army's 250th Birthday Parade Begins Amid Day Of Anti-Trump Protests & Worries About D.C. Weather
Thousands of soldiers, tanks and fighting vehicles and marching bands were expected at a parade down a five-block stretch of Constitution Avenue for a celebration of the Army's 250th anniversary. At an Ellipse reviewing stand is President Donald Trump, celebrating his 79th birthday, and he is expected to speak later in the evening. The event was scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT, but organizers moved events up a half an hour out of concerns over the weather. With heavy security and miles of fencing around the area of the White House and the National Mall, the event helped trigger a nationwide series of protests, called No Kings, partly out of concern that the D.C. spectacle would take on the look of a North Korean leader reviewing his troops. The nation's capital last hosted a military parade in 1991, to celebrate the U.S. victory in the first Gulf War. Cable news networks and broadcast streaming channels planned extensive coverage. Although the Army has been planning a celebration for more than a year, the parade is taking place following a tumultuous week, with concerns over Trump using the U.S. military to maintain domestic order. The ICE raids in Los Angeles led to protests and Trump's decision to federalize the National Guard to dispatch it to the city, while 700 Marines also were ordered deployed. The biggest threat of disruption to the parade was the weather, and the threat of storms and potential flash flooding. Trump wrote on Truth Social earlier in the day, 'OUR GREAT MILITARY PARADE IS ON, RAIN OR SHINE. REMEMBER, A RAINY DAY PARADE BRINGS GOOD LUCK. I'LL SEE YOU ALL IN D.C.' Despite the controversy over the parade and its cost, estimated at about $45 million, CNN's Jeff Zeleny said that he was on the National Mall earlier in the day, where a festival was held to celebrate the Army anniversary. 'But now we are turning the page to the parade,' Zeleny noted, adding that he was in Paris during Trump's first term when the president attended the Bastille Day parade and was enamored by the spectacle. 'Yes, the Army is being celebrated, and the president is also being celebrated,' Zeleny said. Trump and Melania arrive at military parade
President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump arrived at Saturday's 250th anniversary for the U.S. Army, which also coincides with the president's 78th birthday. Melania sported a cream pinstripe suit for the occasion. The president and first lady arrived as the first drops of rain started falling, after Washington, D.C.'s possible bad weather held off all day, though with thunderstorms still predicted for later Saturday night. Vice President J.D. Vance and Usha Vance arrived with their kids, alongside Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth , as other dignitaries waited onstage. After the Star-Spangled banner, when there was a break in the programming, members of the crowd loudly broke out into 'Happy Birthday' for Trump. Trump has denied that the military parade is in his honor - though he's wanted to hold a Bastille Day-like parade since visiting France in the opening months of his first term in 2017. The parade kicked off in earnest shortly afterward. Trump will speak later Saturday evening. The parade was set up to showcase the history of the Army, with the earliest period uniforms going first. That means the 1st Cavalry Division - including its mascot Doc Holliday, a two year old blue heeler - was near the beginning of the pack.
