"It's one of those you'll never forget": trailer drops for Jennifer Lopez's Kiss of the Spider Woman
Jennifer Lopez dazzles in the trailer for the upcoming movie musical Kiss of the Spider Woman, where she takes on the role of Ingrid Luna, a glamorous on-screen diva known for portraying a deadly 'spider woman.' The film, directed by Bill Condon and based on the stage musical by Terrence McNally, John Kander, and Fred Ebb, features Lopez as a character whose kiss can kill lovers. Set during Argentina's Dirty War in 1981, the story follows a gay hairdresser, Luis (Tonatiuh), imprisoned under oppressive conditions, who escapes through memories of Ingrid's films. His life changes when Valentin (Diego Luna), a Marxist revolutionary, is imprisoned in the same cell. Their unexpected friendship blossoms as they bond over music and cinema. The trailer showcases Lopez's vocal talent as she sings one of the musical's most iconic songs, 'Where You Are.' The film features 13 songs performed by Lopez, Tonatiuh, and Luna, with Condon, known for Dreamgirls, both directing and writing the screenplay. Producers for the film include Artists Equity, Barry Josephson, Tom Kirdahy, and Greg Yolen. Variety critic Peter Debruge praised Lopez's 'smoldering' performance, noting that it would likely attract audiences who may not typically enjoy musicals. However, Debruge highlighted newcomer Tonatiuh for his standout performance, finding both strength and vulnerability in his portrayal of Luis. Kiss of the Spider Woman premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January and is scheduled for theatrical release on October 10 via Lionsgate.

Ben Affleck's compelling sequel to his 2016 action-thriller movie The Accountant is all set to hit Amazon Prime Video. The Accountant 2 was released in theatres on April 25, 2025, bringing back Affleck in his titular of a gifted accountant who undertakes a dangerous mission involving a past acquaintance in this gripping thriller. The streaming service announced the news via a social media post on Monday (June 2). The film will hit the OTT platform on Thursday (June 5). This sequel picks on the story of Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck), a highly skilled CPA suffering from autism who lives an undercover life as a forensic accountant for criminal organizations. Given his knack for solving complex problems, Wolff is pulled into a dangerous spiral when an old acquaintance who has been murdered leaves behind a note asking the receiver to 'find the accountant'. He is affected by the complexity of the case and reaches out to his estranged brother Brax (Jon Bernthal). What started as a simple murder mystery soon gets the pair and US Treasury Deputy Director Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) involved in a lethal underground network of killers who are out for the blood of anyone who tries to get in their way. The film grossed over $100 million worldwide in theatres and won the Headliner Audience Award when it premiered at the SXSW festival. A Rotten Tomatoes approval rating of 86% and overall positive reception from audiences and critics alike has secured good reviews for the film. Gavin O'Connor is the director of the film along with Ben Affleck, Lynette Howell Taylor p.g.a., and Mark Williams filling in producer roles. Ben Affleck, Jon Bernthal, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Daniella Pineda, Allison Robertson, and J.K. Simmons star in the film written by Bill Dubuque. Artists Equity, a production studio run by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, made the film after getting sequel rights from Warner Bros. The plot and success of this sequel leave sufficient space open for a potential third film in the franchise as well. Director Gavin O'Connor has also expressed interest in continuing Wolff's story.

Carnahan said in an online interview: "Working with Matt and Ben and having two, distinctly talented filmmakers, as both creative allies and the studio heads, wound up being the best of both worlds." He added that the process on set was a breeze, with Damon and Affleck providing unwavering support for his creative decisions. "The Rip" revolves around a team of Miami cops who, after discovering millions in cash in a derelict stash house, find their trust starting to erode. As outside forces get wind of the astounding seizure, the film delves into the murky waters of trust and loyalty. "The title for 'The Rip' is simply Miami cop parlance for 'taking the bad guy's stuff,' which is known as 'ripping' it", Carnahan explained. Damon and Affleck, who are now established A-list actors and producers, first gained fame for co-writing "Good Will Hunting", which won them an Oscar. Despite their numerous accolades, the pair have shared the screen in a limited number of films together. The duo recently teased "The Rip" during the Netflix Tudum 2025: The Live Event, where Affleck jokingly said: "I trusted Matt would shave the beard before Tudum - and here we are." Damon is currently sporting a beard for his role as Odysseus in Christopher Nolan's upcoming film "The Odyssey". After launching Artists Equity in 2022, Damon and Affleck released the company's first film, "Air", in spring 2023 to strong reviews and a solid box office performance. Recent releases include Apple's "The Instigators" starring Damon. The company's most recent film, "The Accountant 2", starring Affleck, just crossed the $100 million marker at the global box-office. Principal photography officially began February 25 on the IMAX flick, and filming is also expected to take place in Italy, Greece, Morocco, Scotland, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.
