Whole country is saddened by this incident: Chhattisgarh Deputy CM Arun Sao
Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], June 13 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao paid tribute to those who were killed in the AI-171 plane crash in Ahmedabad a day earlier and said that the State government and the Centre are providing the necessary help. Speaking to ANI, Dy CM Sao said, 'The whole country is saddened by this incident. It is a very painful accident. Former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani has died in this incident. I pay my tribute to all the deceased and express condolences to their families. The state government and the central government are providing all possible help.' Sharing an X post on Thursday, Sao paid a tribute to ex-Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani, who lost his life in the plane crash. Sharing Rupani's picture, Arun Sao wrote, 'Tearful tribute. Om Shanti.' Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh Dy CM Vijay Sharma on Friday expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the incident. 'May God give strength to the families of the deceased... I am deeply saddened that Vijay Rupani is no more. This is a matter of learning why all this happened,' Sharma told ANI. The AI-171 Boeing Dreamliner 787-8 aeroplane bound for London's Gatwick had crashed shortly after it took off from the Ahmedabad International Airport on Thursday. The airlines said only one out of the 242 people on board the aircraft survived the crash. The Air India flight to London crashed soon after it took off from the Ahmedabad International Airport, into a medical college complex in Meghaninagar nearby. The aircraft was piloted by Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, a Line Training Captain with 8,200 hours of flying experience, assisted by First Officer Clive Kundar, who had logged 1,100 flying hours. According to Air Traffic Control (ATC), the aircraft departed from Ahmedabad at 1339 IST (0809 UTC) from runway 23. It made a Mayday call to ATC, but thereafter, the aircraft did not respond to the calls made by ATC. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau is a division of the Ministry of Civil Aviation tasked with probing aircraft accidents in India. A formal investigation has been launched by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) into the deadly crash of Air India flight 171 that killed 241 people onboard, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu confirmed on Thursday. NSPCL, RMC ink MoU to use 18 MLD treated water daily for industrial use in major green push
NSPCL Bhilai and Raipur Municipal Corporation have partnered to conserve water and protect the environment. NSPCL will use 18 million litres of treated water daily from the Chandandih Sewage Treatment Plant, reducing reliance on fresh water sources. RAIPUR: In a significant move towards water conservation and environmental protection, NSPCL Bhilai and Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Under the agreement, NSPCL will utilise 18 million litres of treated water daily from the Chandandih Sewage Treatment Plant (STP). NSPCL is a joint venture between National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and Steel Authority of India (SAIL). It will be a boost for water conservation and groundwater rejuvenation. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this project will be prepared soon, followed by the laying of pipelines, the cost of which will be borne by NSPCL. This initiative aligns with the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) and the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Groundwater Conservation Mission. It is expected to reduce NSPCL's dependence on fresh water sources and groundwater. The Chandandih STP has a capacity of 75 million litres per day. This move by the corporation to provide treated wastewater to industrial units is a significant step towards preventing river and drain water pollution. The MoU was signed on Saturday at NSPCL's Bhilai office, a step taken under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and the guidance of Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, who also heads the Urban Administration and Development Department.

PM Modi expresses grief over Raipur road accident, announces ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh for kin of deceased
New Delhi [India], May 12 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed grief over the loss of lives due to a tragic road accident in the Raipur district of Chhattisgarh, in which 13 people were killed and 14 others injured. Prime Minister Modi also announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each deceased, and Rs 50,000 for each of the injured. In a post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) stated, 'Deeply saddened by the loss of lives due to a road accident in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. An ex gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000: PM Narendra Modi.' Earlier in the day, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed grief over the loss of life in the accident and announced an ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the 13 deceased in the road accident at Saragaon. An ex gratia of Rs 50,000 each will also be given to the injured. 'The news of 13 people dying and 14 people getting injured in the horrific road accident in Kharora is extremely sad. Instructions have been given to the officials to provide proper treatment to the injured. In this hour of crisis, the Chhattisgarh government stands with the families of the deceased. The state government has approved compensation of Rs 5 lakh each for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each for the injured,' CM Sai posted on X. Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao condoled the demise of the 13 individuals who lost their lives in the road accident, calling it a 'tragic incident.' Deputy Chief Minister Sao assured that the incident will be investigated, and strict action will be taken against those responsible. '13 people have died in a road accident. It is a tragic incident. I express my condolences to the families of the deceased. The incident will be investigated, and strict action will be taken against the affected families will be given all the requisite help,' Arun Sao said. On Sunday, 13 individuals lost their lives and 14 others were injured after a truck collided with a trailer near Saragaon on the Raipur-Balodabazar Road in Chhattisgarh. Senior Superintendent of Police Lal Umed Singh told ANI, 'Some people from the village Chataud had gone to a different village to attend a were returning to their place when their vehicle collided with a truck. Many people got injured in the incident. A total of 13 people died and 14 people got injured in the incident,' Umed Singh said. (ANI)

Chhattisgarh Deputy CM Arun Sao lauds India's response to Pahalgam terror attack, calls it
Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], May 12 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao described India's response following the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, as a 'great' victory for the nation. Speaking to ANI, Sao emphasized that the destruction of nine terrorist hideouts and the demolition of their training center by the Indian Armed Forces (IAF) demonstrated the significance of 'Sindoor' in India to the entire world. He further asserted that India is prepared to go to any extent to eliminate terrorism. 'The way the Indian government took many historic and strong decisions after the Pahalgam incident, whether it was the matter of suspending the Indus Water Treaty, cancelling the visas of Pakistani citizens, closing the borders or the way Operation Sindoor was carried out, it was a great victory for India and for the Indian army,' Sao said. 'When they went 100 km inside Pakistan, destroyed 9 terrorist hideouts, and demolished their training center and as it is being said that about 100 terrorists were killed, Operation Sindoor sent a message to the whole world about what the importance of 'sindoor' in India is and what is the value of 'sindoor' and that India can go to any extent to eliminate terrorists, the Chhattisgarh Deputy CM added. Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK). This operation was a retaliatory response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. On Sunday, Director General Military Operations (DGMO) Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai asserted that the tensions between India and Pakistan since the last three to four days are no less than a war. He also paid homage to five fallen jawans of the armed forces and civilians who lost their lives due to Pakistani shelling across the Line of Control (LoC). He said that the Pakistan Army might be involved in infiltration across the LoC, trying to harm the army posts. 'The activities that have been going on for the last 3-4 days are no less than a war. Under normal circumstances, the air forces of the countries do not fly in the air and attack each normal circumstances, infiltration across the Line of Control is done by terrorists. We have information that the Pakistani army may also be involved in infiltration across the Line of Control, which is trying to harm our posts,' Ghai said in a presser here. 'I pay my solemn homage to my five fallen colleagues and brothers from the armed forces and civilians who tragically lost their lives in Operation Sindoor. Our hearts go out to the bereaved sacrifices shall always be remembered,' he added. The DGMO warned that India has exercised immense restraint while focusing only on non-escalatory actions. RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh government has taken stern action following the discovery of negligence and slow progress in work, suspending the Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) of Kumhari Municipality with immediate effect. This action comes after deputy chief minister Arun Sao's surprise inspection of the Kumhari Municipality office, where he found disorganisation, indiscipline, incomplete documents, poor record-keeping, and negligence in assigned tasks, leading to a reprimand of the CMO. Deputy chief minister Shri Sao had expressed his dissatisfaction with the slow progress of works under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and the AMRUT Mission. The progress of the drinking water situation in the civic body, the AMRUT Mission, and the Atal Complex construction was found to be extremely slow. Similarly, the progress of revenue collection, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, other construction works, and the disposal of applications in the Sushasan Tihar was also excessively slow. During the surprise inspection and review of works, CMO Netram Chandrakar failed to provide satisfactory responses to Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sao. His language and demeanour were also inappropriate. Taking a serious view of the conduct of Kumhari Municipality Chief Municipal Officer Netram Chandrakar, the state government has suspended him with immediate effect, considering it as gross misconduct. During the suspension period, his headquarters will be the Joint Director, Regional Office, Durg. He will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per rules during the suspension period. During his surprise inspection of the Kumhari Municipality office on 9 May, Deputy Chief Minister Sao observed significant disorganisation and indiscipline. He had reprimanded the CMO for incomplete documents, poor record-keeping, and negligence in work. He had also expressed his dissatisfaction with the slow progress of works under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and the AMRUT Mission. Furthermore, Sao was displeased with the slow pace of disposal of applications in the Sushasan Tihar. He had directed disciplinary action against the absent officers and employees.
