BJP to launch campaign to address Operation Sindoor's achievements, objectives

The BJP is preparing to launch a comprehensive campaign to inform the public about the achievements and objectives of Operation Sindoor, sources said. This strategic move aims to ensure clear communication regarding the operation and its outcomes. The campaign will be executed at multiple levels, covering state capitals, districts, and divisions, sources added. In response to growing concerns raised by opposition parties, the BJP plans to hold its first press conference to directly address the issue. Party leaders will present detailed information on the operation, highlighting the significant accomplishments of India during the mission. The press conference will serve as a platform for clarifying the objectives and the overall success of the preparations for this communication strategy were discussed in a meeting held yesterday at BJP President JP Nadda's residence. Key leaders in attendance included Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. Several BJP general secretaries also took part in the discussion, emphasising the importance of effective communication. Ashwini Vaishnav also met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the party's approach to the communication strategy, ensuring alignment across the leadership. The BJP is set to move forward with this plan to strengthen public understanding of Operation Sindoor, with a focus on its objectives and leader Sambit Patra held a press conference today, highlighting the achievements of the armed forces and summing up the developments that have taken place since the beginning of Operation Sindoor. Sambit Patra confirmed that India, in response to Pakistan's unprovoked aggression, struck terror camps and also struck 11 Pakistani airbases. advertisementHe, however, claimed that the armed forces had five main goals and, among them, was the goal to ensure that no civilians were harmed during India's retaliatory strike. "After the Pahalgam terror attack, the PM had promised that we will avenge the death of 26 people. The PM said that the revenge would be beyond the enemy's imagination, and so it was. He had also said 'mitti mein milayenge' and 'ghus ke maarenge'; that is what we did. PM Modi's decision and the bravery of our Armed Forces ensured terror sites were reduced to 22nd April till 7th May, there was an atmosphere of tension in the country; there was a demand for immediate action. Despite surgical strikes in the past, Pakistan could not guess when it would be struck," he said. India and Pakistan reached a ceasefire understanding on Saturday and a fresh set of talks between Pakistan and India's DGMO is underway at the time of writing this article.

It will be a new Vande Bharat Express from Belagavi not an extension, says Shettar

Contrary to the earlier decision to extend the existing Dharwad-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express to Belagavi, the Railway Board has decided to run a new Vande Bharat Express Train between Belagavi and Bengaluru. In a press release, BJP MP Jagadish Shettar has said that Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has communicated giving approval for running a new Vande Bharat from Belagavi to Bengaluru instead of extending the existing Dharwad-Bengaluru train to Belagavi. Expressing happiness over the decision, Mr. Shettar has said that previously during meetings with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav held in the presence of Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna, Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi, he, along with the Ministers, had emphasised the need for extension and subsequently, it was agreed upon to extend the existing train. Now, it has been communicated that there will be a new train instead, which is a welcome move, he said. As per information provided by the authorities, the new Vande Bharat Express will leave Belagavi in the morning and return from Bengaluru in the afternoon. This will greatly benefit the people of the region, he said. Mr. Shettar has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnav, Pralhad Joshi and V. Somanna for the decision and urged them to fix an early date for launching the new service.

India to ask caste status in next census for first time in decades

India I ndia will conduct its first official caste census since independence, the government announced yesterday, a move likely to have far-reaching consequences for its politics and contentious affirmative action policies. The decision to include detailed caste data as part of the next census -- originally due in 2021 but yet to take place -- was approved by a government meeting headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 'The Cabinet Committee of Political Affairs has decided today that caste enumeration should be included in the forthcoming census,' government spokesman Ashwini Vaishnav told reporters. 'This demonstrates that a government is committed to the values and interests of a society and country.' No date has been announced for the next census. Amit Shah, India's interior minister, called the move 'historic'. 'This decision will empower all economically and socially backward sections,' he said in a statement. Support from opposition leader Caste data was last collected as part of the official census exercise in 1931, during British colonial rule that ended with Indian independence 16 years later. Successive governments have since resisted updating the sensitive demographic data, citing administrative complexity and fears of social unrest. A caste survey was conducted in 2011 but its results were never made public because they were purportedly inaccurate. That survey was separate from the 2011 general census, the last time the world's most populous nation collected demographic data. Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party has in the past opposed the idea of enumerating people by caste, arguing it would deepen social divisions. Proponents say detailed demographic information is crucial for targeted implementation of India's social justice programmes, including earmarking nearly half of all university seats and government jobs for socially disadvantaged communities. Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi -- a strong advocate of the idea -- said he 'welcomed' the move. 'We see the caste census as a new paradigm of development,' Gandhi told reporters. 'We are going to push this paradigm one way or the other.'
