Skye Chua to represent PH at 2025 Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy
Article Inside Page Skye Chua is competing for the Philippines once again! National athlete Skye Chua is set to represent the country anew in an upcoming figure skating competition. Sparkle GMA Artist Center shared the news on its social media page, saying the Sparkle star and professional figure skater will be participating in the upcoming Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy 2025. This year's Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy will take place at SM Skating in the Mall of Asia from August 1 to 5. 'Competing on home ice, she not only carries the country's hopes but also inspires a new generation of Filipino skaters,' Sparkle said. Sparkle noted that Skye just came back from an intensive training session in Osaka, Japan. 'Skye's participation underscores her commitment to excellence and the nation's growing presence on the international stage,' Sparkle continued. In January 2025, Skye also represented the country at the International University Sports Federation (FISU) Winter World University Games in Turin, Italy. 'I've always dreamed of being able to skate in a prestigious event such as this. Being able to represent my country and my university at the same time has truly been an honor,' Skye said in a previous Instagram post. Skye Chua is set to raise the Philippine flag at the 2025 Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy. Sparkle shared the exciting news on Instagram, announcing that the two-time national medalist, fresh from training in Osaka, Japan, will represent the country at the upcoming competition to be held from August 1 to 5 at the SM Skating Rink at the Mall of Asia. 'Competing on home ice, she not only carries the country's hopes but also inspires a new generation of Filipino skaters as the Philippines hosts this prestigious ISU-sanctioned event,' Sparkle said. Previously, the Sparkle actress participated at the 2025 FISU Winter World University Games in Turin, Italy where she also served as the Philippine flag bearer. A national figure skater, Skye also competed at the SEA Open Figure Skating Trophy in July 2024, where she placed third. As an actress, Skye most recently appeared in GMA Prime series "Pulang Araw" as Japanese character Yuki.
