Guwahati: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the oral interview of the
Assam Direct Recruitment Examination
(ADRE) for Grade III and IV posts would be held from June 15. The written exams were conducted last year.
The CM, in a social media live session on Sunday night, said the next phase of the exam would encompass various assessments, including computer proficiency, skill-based evaluations, driving tests and oral examinations for Grade III and Grade IV positions.
"Examinations for roles such as Grade III drivers, stenographers, and electricians under Assam Power Distribution Company Limited have already been conducted," he noted. "Now, the computer test for Grade III, tests for drivers, and skill tests for stenographers and electricians will begin on June 15. We intend to conclude this round of assessments within a month."
The administration plans to simultaneously conduct oral and viva-voce assessments for successful Grade IV written examination candidates from June 15, with a targeted completion within one month.
A comprehensive notification detailing the schedules and procedures will be issued in the coming days. "I appeal to all qualified candidates to begin their preparations in earnest," Sarma said.
The written examinations for the recruitment to the posts in the Assam govt were conducted in the state in September-October on Sunday amid extensive arrangements, including an eight-hour suspension of mobile internet services to prevent malpractices and tight security, and without any incident of irregularity reported.

Over 7.34 lakh candidates were eligible to appear in the second phase of the Assam ADRE held for the Grade III posts with bachelor degree level and HSLC level posts. An almost similar number of aspirants were eligible for Grade IV exams. The mobile internet services were suspended in order to "prevent any possible attempt to leak question papers or any irregularity".
The home and political department also issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) for frisking due to prior allegations of improper conduct during the first phase of the examination that was conducted in September.
