Henry Golding thinks portraying James Bond would be a 'nightmare'

Henry Golding thinks playing James Bond would be a "nightmare". The 38-year-old actor has been widely tipped as one of the candidates to replace Daniel Craig as 007, but he acknowledged that the role carries a lot pressure and expectation. Golding told People: "I think that's every actor's kind of nightmare. But at the same time, [you're] also wanting to kind of add something new to a franchise." He said the role of Bond would be more attractive if it didn't carry so much "cultural pressure". The actor – who starred in 2018's Crazy Rich Asians – reflected: "Maybe I'm just a p****. I don't know. But I think I would love it so much more if there wasn't that overhanging cultural pressure." Golding reckoned the Bond franchise should actually broaden its horizons by adding "more agents" and adopting a more open-minded approach. He said: "Why can't they bring out more agents or more OO's? I think that would be so much more fun, because there just isn't the restraints and the expectation." Golding previously described being linked to the role of Bond as an "honour". However, the actor argued that the world is not yet ready for a non-white Bond. Golding – who was born in Malaysia, but raised in the UK – told Attitude magazine: "It does seem to be a question that always comes up. It was definitely from Crazy Rich Asians, maybe [the scene with] the white suit coming out the park. "I'm Asian and everybody's fighting for a diverse Bond – sorry, white guys." Golding said it's "great" that non-white actors are being linked to the role of Bond. And the actor admitted to being flattered to even have been spoken about as a possible candidate for the coveted part.

It's an honour to even be in the conversation."

Legendary 90s pop star who had a 'crippling alcohol addiction' warns celebs to be 'very afraid' over upcoming tell-all book

Nineties pop sensation Anthony Kavanagh is set to lift the lid on the darker side of stardom with his explosive new autobiography, Pop Scars - and he's warned the industry to brace itself. The singer, 47, who rose to fame under the name Kavana with hits like I Can Make You Feel Good and Crazy Chance, has hinted that no one is safe from the revelations in his upcoming book. Known for his boy-next-door image in the teen pop heyday, Anthony has since opened up about his struggles with addiction, revealing the personal cost of fame after finding success at just 16 years old. As the release of his tell-all book looms, some of his friends and acquaintances in the industry could be in for a shock. Back in 2017, the singer promised that he'd write a revealing memoir about his time in the music industry. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. He told Attitude magazine: 'I am very excited about it. It's more of a memoir, I'll save the autobiography for when I'm older. 'It'll be warts [and all] and recalls what was happening back in the pop industry back in the 90s and when I went to live in Hollywood. 'There are some really outrageous stories that most people wouldn't know about. Yes, people should be afraid…very afraid.' And the former pop idol appears to be relishing the build-up as he took to his Instagram page on May 14 to tease fans with a glimpse of what's to come. He posted a snap of the cover of his book, featuring a imagine of the star at the height of his success. Anthony penned: 'Can't believe I'm saying this but I actually wrote a book. Like by myself, like those grown ups do. POP SCARS covers all things 90s pop but more importantly what happens AFTER fame.' The star continued: 'It's about teenage fame, loss, addiction and hope, and how not to iron a white Kappa tracksuit. 'It's been described as 'Laugh out loud, jaw dropping, and heartfelt' but you can decide that. The former pop idol appears to be relishing the build-up as he took to his Instagram page on May 14 to tease fans with a glimpse of what's to come in 'Come join the ride with me. More news to come. This is for the underdog.' After his pop career wrapped up, Anthony kept busy in the public eye, starring in Hollyoaks: In The City in 2006 and later competing as a finalist on the TV show Greece Is the Word in 2007. He also took part in Celebrity Big Brother in 2017, where he finished seventh. As for his personal life, Anthony shocked fans as he shared a swollen photo of himself at the peak of his alcohol addiction. The star has been sober for nearly three years and has been incredibly open about his struggles with addiction and his journey to recovery. And the artist admitted he was 'lost, broken and hopeless' during his crippling addiction. He wrote: 'On #addictionawarenessweek I want to make anyone struggling aware that recovery is possible. 20 months ago I was lost, broken and hopeless. 'Ask for help, I'm so glad I did. #Wedorecover #Noshame #addiction #youcandoit'. The singer documented his 2022 entry into rehab after sadly relapsing a year earlier. In February 2022, he took to Twitter to apologise to his family for not being 'truthful' as he admitted that alcoholism had 'got a grip on him' in an emotional post. The singer spoke of his 'mental struggles', before signing off social media for the foreseeable future. The statement read: 'Today I go into rehab. Again. This illness of Alcoholism has got its grip. I'll be off social media for a while. 'To what family I have left, I'm sorry I wasn't truthful I've been going through a lot of mental struggles. Good news I'm going to get the help I need. 'My phone will be off for a while. Clint, Aunty Angela, Aunty Maria, Brad, I'm going to be OK and I love you all madly x.'

Lady Gaga and Madonna rivalry reignited once again by competing Brazil crowds

Rivalry between Lady Gaga and Madonna has been reignited once again after the 'Bad Romance' singer broke a record for the most-attended free concert hosted by a female singer during her show at Copacabana beach in Brazil on Saturday (3 May). Gaga broke the record, which had previously been set by Madonna, when 2.1 million attendees flocked to Rio de Janeiro's shores for the concert as part of a promotional tour for her latest album, Mayhem. Madonna originally set the record when she gave a concert as part of her Celebration tour on Copacabana beach in May 2024, with 1.6 million attendees. Respective fans of the two artists have been using the new record set by Gaga as an opportunity to pit the two musicians against each other. One fan shared a picture of the crowd at Gaga's show, and wrote online, 'Oh Gaga you will never be Madonna,' to which another fan snapped back: 'She will never be Madonna because she's Lady Gaga – and she's far better.' Another person said that Gaga's new record is a testament to the success of her career. 'I don't think we fully grasp how massive this is… Madonna has a four-decade career that spans generations.. .Gaga managed to attract all in a short time and pull a bigger audience by a wide margin and no one might ever top this… she's a legend,' they wrote. Another more neutral fan chimed in, saying: 'I'm a Madonna fan since I was eight, and I love Gaga too, they both love each other too, why the confrontation?' When Gaga released her debut album The Fame in 2008, critics were quick to compare her to Madonna due to her avant-garde performance style and take on the pop genre. Both musicians have referenced the perceived rivalry between them, with the pair poking fun at the rumours when they appeared in a 2009 Saturday Night Live segment. Some fans argued that Gaga's 2011 song 'Born This Way' was an imitation of Madonna's 1989 song 'Express Yourself', and Madonna went on to call the song a 'blatant rip-off' and said it felt 'reductive' in an interview with Rolling Stone. Later she performed a mash-up of the two songs in her concerts. Gaga addressed this in a 2013 interview with Attitude Magazine, saying she was 'floored' that Madonna was singing her song. 'Madonna Ciccone was singing my song on stage and I'm 27! As a punk rocker from New York, I've basically been hoping that I would become so good that one day I would piss off Madonna!' she said. Gaga added: 'I'm certainly not thinking about anybody but me and my fans when I'm on stage. The fact that I was on her mind at all... I mean, Madonna's… she's Madonna. I looked up to her for a long time. I'm not quite sure what her intention was – to do that in the show – but I don't really care.' The 'Poker Face' singer addressed the criticism in her Netflix 2017 Netflix documentary, Five Foot Two, commenting: 'So the thing with me and Madonna for example, is that I admired her always. 'And I still admire her, no matter what she might think of me. She wouldn't look me in the eye and tell me that I was reductive or whatever… Telling me you think I'm a piece of s*** through the media? It's like a guy passing me a note through his friend.' The pair appeared to squash rumours of a feud between them in 2019, when they were photographed together at Madonna's Oscars afterparty.

Emmerdale to introduce ANOTHER Barton brother – and it's a very familiar face

EMMERDALE is getting a brand new Barton brother - and he's being played by a very familiar face. The ITV soap delighted fans last month when they revealed Heartstopper star Bradley Riches was joining the soap in a brand new role. 2 And while the character was being kept under wraps, The Sun exclusively revealed how he was going to be connected to a family in the village. Now it has been confirmed that Bradley is playing a new Barton - the younger brother of Ross, Pete and the late Finn. Posting the news alongside a picture of him and Ross Barton actor Mike Parr on Instagram, Bradley wrote: "Hello brother… I guess good looks do run in the family." He added to Attitude Magazine: 'I play Lewis Barton. He's studying at Leeds University and related to Ross [portrayed by Michael Parr].' [Lewis] has known about his brother for a while, but he finally builds up the courage to reach out to him, see if they get along and ask questions about his family." The actor - who also appeared on Celebrity Big Brother last year - also revealed how he got the role on Emmerdale. He bumped into a producer from the soap at the National Television Awards and got chatting. And while originally he auditioned for the role of Dylan, April Windsor's homeless pal, instead he was offered the role of Lewis. He added: 'I came to Leeds for a meeting for a different character: Dylan, who is in April's storyline. But then the schedule didn't work, and I thought I'd missed the opportunity." "I felt like it was meant to personality of the character fits me so much better." And it can also be revealed that Lewis will be Emmerdale's first neurodivergent character with both actor and character being autistic. Bradley said: "The writers were very open to [hearing] how I would say things. For example, in the autism community, we don't say, 'I have autism.' 'I don't mind, but some disagree because it's not additional. I am autistic."
