PHOTO: FRANCK MULLER The #Fr2nck Muller Vanguard Beach Limited Edition is the second partnership between the Swiss watchmaker and Tokyo's streetwear disruptor #FR2. This sequel to their smash 2023 collaboration is crafted in three attention-grabbing hues: Heatwave Red, Surf Blue and Tropical Green. Limited to 300 pieces in each colourway, the models have ultra-lightweight glass fibre-composite cases where the glass is melted at 1,500 deg C, pulled into thread, cooled, dyed and compressed. The dial features #FR2's signature rabbits lounging under parasols, catching waves or hiding in verdant tropical thickets. In the dark, the skeleton hands and the cheeky bunnies glow with Super-LumiNova. In a cheeky twist, the date window sits at two o'clock, a smart nod to the '2' in #FR2 and a sunny stand-in for the heat of summer. The graphic nylon band strap is leather-lined, with a hook-and-loop closure built for spontaneous beach swops . Completing the package is Franck Muller's robust MVT 2536-SCDT2H automatic movement. Price: $18,800 IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph 41 Top Gun Miramar The latest IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph 41 takes flight in Top Gun Miramar, a striking shade developed with colour expert Pantone. PHOTO: IWC Limited to 1,000 pieces, the latest IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph 41 takes flight in Top Gun Miramar, a striking shade inspired by the light blue tees worn by elite instructors at the US Navy Fighter Weapons School. Developed with colour expert Pantone, the signature hue extends across the sleek 41mm ceramic case, matching dial and rubber strap for a unified look. The titanium caseback is engraved with the Top Gun logo. Under the hood ticks the brand's robust 69380 automatic movement, delivering a 46-hour power reserve. There is also a non-limited sibling model in stainless steel, marking the debut of a Pantone colour on an IWC steel watch. Both versions have hands coated with Super-LumiNova and feature the EasX-Change strap system. The steel model also has an exhibition caseback to show off the Swiss-made movement. Price: $18,200 (ceramic), $10,000 (steel) Ulysse Nardin Blast Free Wheel Maillechort The Blast Free Wheel Maillechort is encased in angular 18K white gold and has a dramatic 'glass box' sapphire crystal offering a clear view of its inner workings from every angle. PHOTO: ULYSSE NARDIN This new drop by the independent watchmaker is quite a horological feat. Limited to 50 pieces, the Blast Free Wheel Maillechort is encased in angular 18K white gold and has a dramatic 'glass box' sapphire crystal offering a clear view of its inner workings from every angle. At the heart of this 45mm wonder is the UN-176 calibre, a manually wound movement that showcases Ulysse Nardin's signature flair for the spectacular. Both the dial and caseback are made from maillechort . Also known as German silver, it is a 19th-century alloy once used in marine chronometers and prized for its warm, textured patina. It is a fitting tribute to the brand's nautical heritage. With time, this 'living metal' ages gracefully, giving each of the 50 pieces its own distinct personality. The real showstopper is the floating architecture. Key components – the double barrel at 12, gear train and the award-winning Ulysse Anchor Constant Escapement flying tourbillon at six – appear to hover above the dial, breaking all the rules of traditional watchmaking. A Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve winner, the escapement swops classic pivots for ultra-thin silicon blade springs, delivering a constant flow of energy to the balance wheel, no matter the power reserve. Tracking the seven-day reserve is a clever static-hand display at four o'clock. When the arcs vanish, it is time to wind. Water-resistant to 30m, the watch is fitted with a blue velvet-effect rubber strap with a white gold folding clasp. Price: $185,200

Seiko launched the 150m 62MAS Diver's watch in 1965 Advanced swiftly with 300m in 1968, titanium 600m 'Tuna' in 1975 New 1965 Diver reimagined packs Calibre 6R55, 72-hour power reserve, 300 m rating Fan vote decides 2026 Diver's model colour addition No watch collection is complete without a Rolex, OMEGA, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Cartier, Vacheron Constantin, Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, and at least one Seiko. We'd happily throw in a Casio G-Shock too, but what we're trying to say here is that at its core, true watch enthusiasts appreciate history, craftsmanship, and performance before they even consider what anyone thinks about the watch on their wrist. If a watch tells a story, has history, and the performance numbers to back up any claims a manufacturer wants to make about its intended use, we watch nerds think that's pretty cool too. While its famous for its Speedmaster Moonwatch, OMEGA was the first brand to release a commercially available divers watch in 1932 with the release of the cork-sealed, double-cased Marine, which was tested in Lake Geneva to a depth of more than 70 metres. Then, twenty years later, after learning from the Swiss, Seiko released the first Japanese dive watch in 1965, the self-winding 150M Diver's called the 62MAS. Seiko 1965 Diver 62MAS | Image: Supplied / Seiko We can't forget that at this time, these watches weren't worn for style: they were concerned with function only. Divers were making personal requests to the brands, and Seiko was the one that became known for meeting these requests in Japan. They could be trusted to deliver a product that would meet or exceed those of the professional divers, and they proved it by making watches that could be used with a diving capsule and saturation diving techniques at depths of up to 600 metres by 1975. However, we have to trace our steps back to 1965 to get a better picture of just how quickly Seiko innovated in this space. A Brief History of the Seiko 62MAS Three years after debuting the 62MAS, which was capable of 150 meters of water-resistance, they released the 1968 Professional Diver 300m. Then, less than ten years later, they released the world's first professional Diver's 600M with titanium case (nicknamed the Tuna) that was corrosion-proof, shock resistant, and airtight. It featured more than 20 patents on the exterior alone, and three years after its release it was updated with a quartz movement, making it the world's first saturation diving watch to feature that style of battery. Seiko 1965 Diver ref. SPB453J | Image: Supplied / Seiko Seiko 1965 Diver Specifications Movement : Automatic Calibre 6R55, +25/‑15 s per day, : Automatic Calibre 6R55, +25/‑15 s per day, Power reserve : 72 hours : 72 hours Case : Stainless‑steel : Stainless‑steel Case diameter : 40 mm (46.4 mm lug‑to‑lug) : 40 mm (46.4 mm lug‑to‑lug) Case thickness : 13 mm : 13 mm Weight : 168 grams : 168 grams Band : Stainless‑steel bracelet : Stainless‑steel bracelet Water resistance : Diver's 300 m : Diver's 300 m Dial: Black with Lumibrite hands & markers; date display; timer scale on bezel Many watches followed, but the 1965 Seiko Diver's watch probably remains the most iconic of all divers on the market to this day. It's hard to acquire in good condition these days, but there's good news: Seiko has re-released the 1965 Diver's and updated it for the modern day with one of the latest in-house automatic movements, the Calibre 6R55 with 72 hours of power reserve, and they've even upgraded the water resistance to 300 metres, which is a first for Prospex non-saturation diver's watches. Seiko 1965 Diver | Image: Supplied / Seiko Seiko 1965 Diver | Image: Supplied / Seiko Seiko 1965 Diver | Image: Supplied / Seiko Seiko 1965 Diver | Image: Supplied / Seiko It's not a replica of the original, but it's what Seiko would've released back in 1965 if they had today's capabilities. You'll notice how they've moved the date window to the space between four and five o'clock to allow for a more symmetrical design and to allow more Lumibrite in the space for high legibility in dark conditions. We also love how they've slimmed the 40.0mm case down (46.4mm lug-to-lug) to 13.0mm, which is remarkably thin for a diver at this price point and these specs. Even the bracelet links are shorter for comfort, and the clasp has a conformed shape. This watch celebrates 60 years of Seiko diver's, and next year, the brand will release one of the colourful colourways teased above. You can choose the watch they release through a fan vote that is currently running on the brand's website. Alternatively, pick up one of the existing Seiko 1965 Diver watches available right now for AUD$1,995 at the retailers listed below.

Kenny Kunene wears TWO luxury watches while professing innocence

Former 'Sushi King' turned politician Kenny Kunene wore not one, but two luxury watches in an interview, distancing himself from controversial businessman KT Katiso Molefe, who was arrested as the alleged mastermind behind the murder of Oupa John Sefoka, also known as DJ Sumbody. Kunene – the deputy-president of the Patriotic Alliance has maintained his innocence. According to eagle-eyed X users, Kenny Kunene sported two luxury watches in his interview with eNCA. One was an Italian brand, a neon green U-Boat Darkmoon worth around R30 000. The other high-end one was the highly coveted Swiss brand, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph, worth over R1 million! The former convict is known for his multi-million rand businesses and flashy lifestyle. Following his release from Grootvlei prison, Kunene became known as the 'Sushi King' over his love of eating sushi off the half-naked bodies of women. During his interview, Kenny Kunene claims he met Katiso Molefe once before being caught at his upmarket Sandton home this week. Moelefe is accused of allegedly ordering the hit on DJ Sumbody, who died in a hail of bullets in 2022. 'I have never been there before. I have no relationship with Mr Molefe, I don't have his cell number. The police established that. According to Kunene, he was at the 'wrong place, wrong time'. 'I have done nothing. I was at the wrong place at the wrong time, for the right reasons,' Kunene told the Mail & Guardian. Kenny Kunene has a long history of criminal activity. Images via Facebook: Kenny Kunene Kunene claims he was accompanying a journalist to Molefe's house to conduct an exclusive interview for his online publication, African News Global. He said: 'I spoke to my contacts who know this guy. He agreed to the interview to tell his side of the story. I was then told to bring the journalist because they felt comfortable with my presence. 'As we drove in — before entering the house — and while greeting the person who had connected us to him, the police kicked the gate to come in.' Aryna Sabalenka sends fans wild with holiday posts on social media

Aryna Sabalenka has gotten over Wimbledon heartbreak with a romantic holiday with boyfriend Georgios Frangulis. The Belarusian tennis ace was hopeful of winning the tournament for the first time in her career, but was dumped out in the semi-final by Amanda Anisimova. Sabalenka, 27, is currently the world No 1 in the WTA rankings and missed out on the chance to face eventual winner Iga Swiatek in the final. However, she does not appear too downbeat as after jetting off on a Greek holiday with her boyfriend. The star shared a number of pictures on Instagram for her 3.2 million followers. One snap showed her taking a selfie with Georgios as he gave her a kiss from behind. Another picture showed the couple arm in arm as they made their way to Spilla restaurant in Mykonos, Greece. Sabalenka also stunned fans in a green bikini as she read a book called Maybe In Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid. She also shared a selfie of her face in which she flashed a luxury Audemars Piguet watch. Fans loved the snaps as they flooded the comment section. One posted: 'You didn't win Wimbledon, but you won my heart.' A second wrote: 'Enjoy a well-deserved break!' A third commented: 'The most beautiful woman in the world.' A fourth said: 'So gorgeous and an amazing tennis player.' Another added: 'You two are so cute together.' Sabalenka announced her relationship with Georgios on Instagram in July 2024. The news came just four months after the tragic death of her ex-partner Konstantin Koltsov. Police labelled the former NHL ice hockey player's death an 'apparent suicide' with 'no foul play suspected'.

Audemars Piguet marks milestone 150th anniversary with touring show

RAYE (left) and Ronson collaborated with Audemars Piguet for its 150th anniversary. Swiss haute horlogerie manufacture Audemars Piguet is commemorating its 150th anniversary with a series of events and new releases. The celebrations kick off at the maison's headquarters in Le Brassus, Switzerland, alongside the revealing of this year's new releases. Among other events include 'The House of Wonders' exhibition that is touring the world – including Shanghai and London – and a dedicated track created in collaboration with artistes Mark Ronson and RAYE. Immersive pop-up exhibition in Shanghai Audemars Piguet brought a slice of its home in the Vallée de Joux to Shanghai with a pop-up exhibition, 'The House of Wonders'. Designed as a gateway to Le Brassus, the brand's birthplace, the immersive experience takes watch enthusiasts and newcomers alike on a journey into the heart of the brand's universe. Retracing the company's history from its founding in 1875 to the present day, the exhibition highlights the craftsmanship, heritage and people who have shaped Audemars Piguet and the wider watchmaking industry for 150 years. The side entrance of The House of Wonders exhibition in Shanghai. To commemorate this milestone anniversary, the brand also hosted an exclusive preview event for clients, media members, and friends of the brand at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre. DJ, record producer and songwriter Ronson took to the stage to deliver an electrifying performance, with noteworthy appearances by musicians Davia Tao, Willer Pan, Jane Zhang, Lexie Liu and actors Chen Jin and Xingxu Chen as well as South Korean singer CL, Thai actor Tawan and French model Iris Mittenaere.
