That said, the device isn't the most lightweight at 4.6lbs, so it might not be the perfect choice if you're looking for something that takes little to no space inside a backpack. This puppy is no slouch in the audio department. It delivers relatively neutral stereo sound out of the box, but you can easily turn up the bass and treble through its companion app to get more thumping low-end. I've tested a lot of portable Bluetooth speakers, so I'm used to people asking me for Bluetooth speaker recommendations. I like to point them to our list of the best Bluetooth speakers, but I also mention that I awarded a CNET Editors' Choice to the Anker Soundcore Boom 2 because it's well priced and delivers impressive sound, making it an excellent value. I liked the original Soundcore Motion Boom, which made our list of the best Bluetooth speakers and was one of the better mini boom box Bluetooth speaker values over the last few years, selling for around $80.
