2024 Ramadan Nigehbaan Package: No audit report received by CM: Azma

LAHORE: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari, while responding to certain media reports regarding the 2024 Ramadan Nigehbaan Package, said that no audit report concerning the Ramadan package has been received by the Chief Minister of Punjab to date. So far, no audit report regarding the Ramadan package has come to the Chief Minister's attention. However, if such a report exists or surfaces in the future, it will be investigated thoroughly and transparently, Azma said. She further stated that soon after the current government took office, relief items under the 'Ramadan Nigehbaan Package' were distributed to beneficiaries based on pre-existing data. Every effort was made to ensure that the entire process was transparent and aligned with the public interest, she added. Reiterating the stance of the Chief Minister of Punjab, Azma Bokhari emphasized that the misuse of public tax money will not be tolerated under any circumstances. If any form of corruption or mismanagement is found within the Ramadan package, those responsible will face the strictest legal action, she said. Azma also shared that an initial inquiry committee is currently being constituted to closely examine all aspects of the matter. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025

Youm-e-Takbeer celebrated with zeal

LAHORE: 'Youm-e-Takbeer' was marked in commemoration of nuclear tests conducted by Pakistan 28th May, 1998 with zeal on Wednesday amid renewed pledge to render any type of sacrifice for the defence of the motherland. On this day, Pakistan became the seventh nuclear power of the world and the first Muslim state having the nuclear arsenal in its defence stockpile. These tests demonstrated the resolve of the nation to safeguard Pakistan's territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty. To mark the day, seminars, rallies and other ceremonies were held in different parts of the country. Speaking at a ceremony in Lahore today, Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervez Malik said the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif made Pakistan invincible by conducting nuclear tests. The PML-N Lahore president Saif ul Malook Khokhar MNA termed the 28th May as a symbol of nation's unwavering determination, courage and spirit of defending homeland. Rallies were also taken out in different parts of the country. Punjab Information Minister, Azma Bokhari stated that May 28 is a golden and unforgettable day in Pakistan's history, symbolizing national pride and sovereignty. She said that on May 28, 1998, under the leadership of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan conducted nuclear tests, rejecting global pressure, economic sanctions, and American offers—thereby becoming the first nuclear power in the Islamic world. Azma Bokhari emphasized that Nawaz Sharif, in a bold and unequivocal response to U.S. pressure, raised the flag of national honour by firmly saying 'Absolutely Not.' By prioritizing national sovereignty above all else, Nawaz Sharif crushed India's arrogance and made Pakistan's defence invincible. She added that today, Pakistan's armed forces continue to maintain superiority over adversaries—a continuation of the firm and strategic decision made on May 28, 1998. Further highlighting the historical context, she said that while India took pride in its nuclear tests on May 10, Pakistan's response on May 28 was a powerful and fitting reply that shattered India's pride. 'Elder brother Nawaz Sharif broke India's arrogance, while younger brother Shehbaz Sharif made it bite the dust,' she remarked. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025

KP solar panel project example of corruption: Azma

LAHORE: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government's solar panel project is a clear example of corruption, commission mafia, and a lack of transparency. The project has reportedly fallen prey to commissions worth two billion rupees. She said that Ali Amin Gandapur announced the project eight months ago, but surprisingly, tenders were issued even before the approval of the PC-1. According to her, public welfare projects in KP either never materialise, or if they do, they become victims of internal disputes among stakeholders. Azma Bokhari asserted that the KP government's entire performance is limited to press statements and political rhetoric, while the province's public funds are being diverted toward protest movements and favored contractors. She further added that slogans like 'Tabdeeli' and 'Tsunami' have turned into a grim joke for the people of KP, resulting in irreparable damage. She remarked that Gandapur's only record consists of three failed attacks on the federal government and Punjab. Bokhari demanded that the federal government immediately audit all funds given to the KP government. She insisted that until the KP government accounts for its previous funds, the federal government should not release even a single penny more. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025

CM announces relief package for families of martyrs: Azma

LAHORE: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has said that India's so-called Operation Sindoor has effectively turned into 'Tandoor.' 'The Modi government has no response left,' she declared, adding: 'They took pride in their aircraft, air defense systems and missiles; and we brought it all to ashes.' Azma Bokhari confirmed that Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos had been successfully completed. She added that a Day of Gratitude was observed on the Prime Minister's instructions to mark the victory. Moreover, the Chief Minister of Punjab instructed all schools to honour this day during morning assemblies. She shared that the Chief Minister personally visited CMH Hospital to inquire after the wounded and expressed solidarity with the families of the martyrs. 'The nation salutes its martyrs who embraced martyrdom in the face of Indian aggression,' Bokhari said. Criticizing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent speech, Bokhari called it 'defeated and baseless.' She remarked, 'Mr Modi thought this was a Bollywood film where Pakistan could be easily defeated, but this was real, not a cinematic scene.' Taking a strong stance against Indian media, Bokhari said, 'Instead of spreading propaganda, face the facts. We've only shown the trailer — the full movie is yet to come.' She emphasized that the sacrifices of Pakistani citizens do not require compensation. 'Nonetheless, the Chief Minister will soon announce a relief package for the families of the martyrs,' she added. 'We are ready to sacrifice everything for our soil and our heroes.' Azma Bokhari paid tribute to the leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League-N, stating, 'Nawaz Sharif is not just a leader, he is a visionary. On May 10, he, alongside Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, played a historic role in defending the nation. The entire operation was designed under Nawaz Sharif's leadership.' Later, Minister Azma Bokhari visited CMH Hospital where she met with war veterans and soldiers injured during the recent Indian aggression. She paid a heartfelt tribute to the brave sons of the soil who laid down their lives for the nation's honour. 'The martyrs and veterans of this war are the pride of our nation,' she stated. 'Their sacrifices are unforgettable, and the Pakistani nation will always be indebted to these heroes.' Azma Bokhari concluded by saying that the entire nation salutes the Pakistan Armed Forces on this historic victory. 'Our martyrs and veterans have upheld the honour of our land. Their unmatched sacrifices will forever guide us.' Copyright Business Recorder, 2025
