Blackpool Air Show flypasts attended by thousands
Thousands of people have turned out to watch spectacular flypasts at the annual Blackpool Air Red Arrows were among teams from the Royal Air Force who wowed visitors on both days of the free aircraft also featured in a Battle of Britain memorial flight, alongside displays by the world's only professional wing-walking hosted the UK's first official public flying meeting in 1909 and council leader Lynn Williams said: "That legacy lives on today through the Air Show, which continues to captivate audiences across the Blackpool skyline." Teenagers discover human remains on Lancashire beach
A group of teenagers have discovered skeletal remains on a beach that were later confirmed to be Police were called to Thornton-Cleveleys in Lancashire on Thursday at about 13:15 BST after reports a skeleton had been found. The remains were tested and confirmed to be human, with efforts now being made "to identify the deceased and find out how they died", the force added. Officers have urged bystanders who filmed the scene to avoid sharing footage, and said "real people affected by this, and ask that you please consider and respect that". A spokesman for the force thanked the "teenagers who reported this to us for their assistance and to the members of the public for their patience while our officers carried out their duties".Officers have appealed for anyone with information about the remains to contact them. Two men die and woman hurt in Clayton-Le-Woods motorcycle crash
A man in his 60s has died after he was struck by a motorcyclist who was also killed in the collision. The vehicle hit the man, and a woman in her 60s, at about 10:30 BST on Preston Road in Clayton-le-Woods on Thursday, Lancashire Police the driver, believed to be a man in his 50s from Macclesfield, and the male pedestrian died at the scene, the force added. The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries but remains in a stable condition. Anyone with any information about the incident, which took place on the Preston Road junction with Cloverfield, is asked to get in touch with Paul McCurrie of the force's Roads Policing Team, said: "Our thoughts are with the woman receiving treatment, and the loved ones of both men who died."They are being supported by specially trained officers at this incredibly distressing time." Ex-headteacher jailed for sex attacks on three pupils in Lancashire
A former headteacher who sexually assaulted three girls at his school has been Bocker, 65, abused the teenagers between 2007 and 2016 at a school in the Oswaldtwistle of Gorse Lane, Formby, was jailed for three-and-a-half years at Burnley Crown Court after he was convicted of three counts of sexual assault. He was also given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for life. Police Investigating Officer Amanda Gallery said: "First and foremost I would like to praise these girls for having the courage to come forward and report to us what happened to them. Lancashire Police gets £500,000 windfall from seized Bitcoin
A police force has had a £500,000 windfall after cryptocurrency it seized went up in value. Lancashire Police discovered that money which had been reported stolen in a major fraud case had been converted into Bitcoin. Before the original sum could be returned to the victim, the cryptocurrency had continued to rise in value. A force spokesman said because the law forbade paying victims more than had been stolen from them, Lancashire Police had been allowed by a court to keep half of the £1m surplus generated by the Bitcoin. Cryptocurrencies are digital monetary units and are not controlled by centralised financial institutions.A spokesman said the money would be "prioritised for local community projects, crime prevention programmes, and initiatives which aim to make a positive difference to deal with crime prevention and reduction".Seized funds have previously been used to fund drones, spam call blocking devices and schemes to combat antisocial behaviour.
