Eccles: Bus roof torn off after vehicle hits bridge
A bus has had its roof torn off after striking a vehicle crashed at about 16:00 BST at the junction of Barton Road and Trafford Road in Eccles, Salford, Greater Manchester Police said. The North West Ambulance Service said it was attending the incident. There is not yet confirmation of any injuries. A large number of paramedics, including an air ambulance, are at the scene. Murder arrest after woman, 72, found dead at Macclesfield house
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead at a 72-year-old was discovered by emergency services responding to a concern for welfare report on Pearson Street, Macclesfield, at about 18:50 BST on Friday, Cheshire Police said. A post-mortem examination has since found she died from several injuries to her head and neck.A 49-year-old man remains in police custody for questioning. Det Insp Eli Atkinson said he wanted to "reassure residents" that officers believed this was an "isolated incident". He said the investigation would continue in the area, with "searches likely to take place" so there would be "an increased police presence".Anyone with information or video footage which could help the investigation is asked to contact police. Oasis fans warned of delays after M60 crash near Heaton Park
Major tailbacks on the M60 motorway could cause delays to Oasis fans travelling to see the band perform in Manchester, travel chiefs have warned. The route is at a standstill from Junction 19, close to Heaton Park, to Junction 22 after a serious cameras show a large volume of traffic blocking all lanes.A spokesman for the Bee Network, the local government body responsible for transport, said: "Roads in the surrounding area are likely to be heavily impacted by congestion. For fans travelling to Heaton Park for the Oasis concert please exit the M60 anti-clock wise at junction 21 and if you are traveling clock-wise exit the M60 at junction 17." Oasis crowds gather at 'Gallagher Hill' despite barrier
Hundreds of ticketless Oasis fans turned up to the area dubbed "Gallagher Hill" in Heaton Park to listen to the band's penultimate Manchester concert, despite requests not to.A fence was installed last week which blocked the view, after many spectators gathered on the slope to watch the gigs. However, images show crowds still turned out on Saturday even though Manchester City Council had urged ticketless fans to not attend, saying "you won't be able to see the show".Greater Manchester Police said the concert itself "concluded without any major incidents", but the force arrested 14 people on suspicion of fraud, assault and drink driving. The council previously said the site had been fenced off to protect livestock and recently planted Mancunian band's final concert in the city is due to be held later, before they head to London to perform at Wembley Stadium as part of their international reunion tour. Police investigating death of woman, 72, at house
The body of a woman has been found at a house. Cheshire Police said officers and paramedics went to a house in Pearson Street in Macclesfield at about 18:50 BST on Friday and a 72-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The force said it was currently treating the woman's death as "unexplained", and described it as an "isolated" incident. "We would like to appeal to anyone who may have any information in relation to the incident to come forward, or anyone who saw anything suspicious or unusual in the area recently," said Cheshire Police Det Ch Insp David Hutcheon.
