Kavitha acting on directions of BJP: TPCC
Hyderabad: TPCC campaign committee chairman Madhu Yaskhi Goud on Monday alleged that BRS MLC K Kavitha was acting on the directions of BJP top leadership in New Delhi to protect herself from the Delhi excise scam case. He also demanded an inquiry into the funds received by Telangana Jagruthi in the past 10 years. "Kavitha has started strengthening Telangana Jagruthi to protect corrupt money. She is an arrow released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah," he alleged. "Kavitha has been holding dharnas seeking justice for the BCs and downtrodden sections, but she should tell the people what she has done for them in the last 10 years," Yaskhi Goud demanded. TPCC working president T Jagga Reddy demanded that Union ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay, along with PM Modi, should explain to the people of the country why India agreed to a ceasefire and to hold talks with Pakistan after Operation Sindoor was launched following the Pahalgam terrorist attack sponsored by Pakistan. "Will US President Donald Trump decide whether India should continue its fight against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism? The BJP leaders should apologise to Rahul Gandhi and answer the queries raised by him on this issue," Jagga Reddy demanded.

Step towards social justice: Kavitha launches United Phule Front
Hyderabad: A day after inaugurating the office of the Telangana Jagruti, BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Sunday announced the UPF (United Phule Front) as its affiliated organisation and also appointed a new body. After writing a letter to her father and making controversial comments against the party leadership, Kavitha inaugurated the Jagruti office at Banjara Hills on Saturday and also announced that her organisation would work on par with the BRS with all affiliated units like Minority Cells pertaining to Muslims, Sikhs and Christians. Kavitha on Sunday announced that the United Phule Front will work as an affiliate of the Telangana Jagruti. A meeting was held with UPF leaders at the Telangana Jagruti office on Sunday. On this occasion, the new executive committee of UPF was announced. Bolla Sivashankar was appointed as the UPF Convener, Alakunta Hari as the Coordinator, Gattu Ramachandra Rao as the Advisor, and 50 others were appointed as co-conveners. Speaking on the occasion, MLC Kavitha said that it was only with the united struggle of Telangana Jagruti and UPF that the Congress government came down and introduced separate bills providing 42 per cent reservation to BCs in local bodies, education and jobs. She said that Telangana Jagruti and UPF would continue their movements until the BC reservations, which were achieved through many struggles, were implemented. She was angry that the NDA government at the Centre and the Congress government in Telangana were conspiring to put the BC bills in cold storage. She had said that her organisation was fighting for the BC bill for the last year and half. The Jagruti leader said that she would soon announce the action plan to implement the BC Bills. UPF convener Bolla Sivashankar said that Telangana Jagruti and UPF would continue their united movements with the unified goal of implementing the BC reservations. He said that they will tell the people how the central and state governments were acting in a conspiratorial manner by not implementing the increased reservations. He said that they will bring all the BCs together and achieve reservations. Meanwhile, Kavitha wrote a letter to the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy demanding cancellation of tenders pertaining to Monsoon emergency teams, instant repair teams and call the tenders again as per wards.

Govt may advance local polls in Telangana amid early monsoon, kharif sowing
Hyderabad: With the monsoon arriving 15 days ahead of schedule and kharif sowing already underway, the Congress govt is considering advancing the panchayat elections , originally planned for the end of July. The elections, likely to be held in two phases, will be the first major political test for chief minister A Revanth Reddy after the assembly and Lok Sabha elections. Sensing an opportunity to consolidate its rural base, the Congress is moving swiftly. It aims to cover all eligible farmers with Rythu Bharosa financial aid, clear pending gram panchayat bills, and roll out Rajiv Vikasam self-employment assistance to rural youth. The govt has already extended 21,000 crore in interest-free loans to women's self-help groups—primarily in rural areas—a key constituency in these elections. Though panchayat polls are technically non-party contests, they are fought fiercely along party lines. With 12,800 gram panchayats and over 1.2 lakh ward seats up for grabs, the Congress is keen to send a strong message to both the BJP and BRS by aiming to win 70–80% of the seats. A senior Congress leader said the party will support 42% of gram panchayat candidates from the BC community, in line with CM Revanth's promise made during the passage of the two bills providing 42% reservation for BCs in education, employment, and local bodies. "We will tell voters that the (Narendra) Modi govt is stalling the BC bills and highlight the BRS's internal rifts. Local-level alliances may be left to candidates depending on ground realities," the leader added. Under the Panchayat Raj Act, the State Election Commission requires formal consent from the state govt to conduct elections. This approval depends on the state govt's ability to provide adequate police deployment and logistical support to ensure free and fair elections. The Congress is also banking on organisational readiness. Party sources say the AICC is expected to finalise all new TPCC teams, including working presidents, vice-presidents, general secretaries, and campaign committee members, before the panchayat poll schedule is announced. Appointments at the district, block, mandal, and village levels are also in the pipeline. Meanwhile, nearly 2,000 crore in central grants under the Finance Commission has been withheld due to the absence of elected local bodies. Conducting these polls could unlock those funds, adding further urgency to the Congress's electoral push.

Missing Komatireddy and Vivek families in PAC sparks buzz in Cong over cabinet berths
1 2 Hyderabad: Two missing names – Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy and G Vivek Venkatswamy – in the all-important political affairs committee (PAC) of the state Congress announced on Thursday has created a buzz in party circles about the high command's plans for the two politically important families. The talk in party is that the Komatireddy and Vivek's families may get representation in either the cabinet expansion or the working presidents' posts. That's something other aspirants are keen on stopping. These competing aspirants have sent letters to the leadership in Delhi, stating that Venkat Reddy is already a minister and another cabinet berth for his younger brother Rajgopal should not be allowed. They also pointed out that three tickets were given to Vivek's family, including two MLA and one MP ticket – all three were won by them. But both Rajgopal and Vivek have maintained that without them the Congress would not have managed the slender margin with 64 seats in the assembly. The two were also reportedly promised cabinet berths on their return to the Congress before assembly polls. On Friday, the meeting of TPCC top guns with Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge was cancelled. TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud said that another date would be fixed and maintained that they were expecting the cabinet expansion soon. "We followed social justice by giving representation to all castes and communities in the five committees announced on Thursday. District representation was also taken into consideration. It was ensured that veterans and young blood were given opportunities. The composition of the new TPCC team comprising working presidents, vice-presidents and general secretaries will see maximum representation from SCs, STs, and BCs. I have personally urged the party high command to give more berths in the cabinet to BCs," Mahesh Goud said. In response to media queries over the missing names in the five committees, Mahesh Goud said that all the ministers are special invitees to the PAC meeting. "We could not have named all the ministers in the PAC, but they can attend the PAC meeting as special invitees," he said. A senior AICC leader said the party high command is likely to announce four working presidents and several vice presidents without any more consultation with the TPCC as all the details have already been submitted by the state leadership. However, there is no clarity on the cabinet expansion date.
