On the occasion, the Delhi government released a 'workbook', highlighting important public welfare initiatives launched so far under Rekha Gupta's chief ministership. "On the completion of 100 days of service of the BJP government in Delhi, a workbook was released, which includes details of the major achievements so far and future plans," Delhi CM Rekha Gupta posted on X. She said, "Important steps like the expansion of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, Yamuna cleaning campaign and Mahila Samridhi Yojana are a reflection of these 100 days of service." Rekha Gupta was sworn in as Delhi's Chief Minister on February 20, 2025. The BJP formed the government in the national capital after 27 years by winning 48 seats in the Delhi Assembly elections, pushing the the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) into the opposition with 22 seats. The Congress failed to win a single seat for the third consecutive time. The Delhi government's workbook titled "Kam karne wali Sarkar-100 din seva ke" was released by CM Rekha Gupta along with her cabinet ministers Ashish Sood and Kapil Mishra. The book highlighted the government's key initiatives across the health, education, infrastructure and welfare sectors. These include budget allocation for implementing the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, a ₹ 51,000 crore provision for the Mahila Samman Yojana, a monthly assistance scheme for poor women. The workbook highlighted measures such as the Yamuna cleaning plan, street lights, Vay Vandana Yojana, setting up Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, and flagging DEVI buses. 'Meva khane wali sarkar' & 'seva karne wali sarkar' On completing 100 days of the Delhi government, CM Rekha Gupta said, "We are very happy and satisfied that the rights the people of Delhi deserve are being delivered with full dedication by the government. And surely, as Viksit Bharat progresses, Viksit Delhi will also progress and witness significant development." In a video posted on X, Rekha Gupta slammed the AAP which ruled Delhi for 10 years before the BJP came to power. She called the previous AAP government "10 saal ki meva khane wali Sarkar", while she termed the ruling BJP government as "100 din ki seva karne wali sarkar." The AAP criticised the BJP government in Delhi, saying, "100 days of destruction by the BJP government is just a trailer, the full picture of the BJP's 'destruction model' is yet to come," the AAP posted on X. On Friday, Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav criticised the BJP-led government in the city for failing to deliver on key election promises and for the 'deteriorating' law and order of the national capital. Yadav said that it is the party's "duty" to question the pain faced by the people of Delhi as the BJP-led government completes 100 days here.

Naam vs Kaam: CM Rekha showcases 100-day work

New Delhi: Hitting out at the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for building 'Sheeshmahal' of corruption, Delhi Chief Minister on Friday vowed to serve people with full dedication and released a workbook on her government's performance in the first 100 days in office. Addressing the media on the eve of a formal release of her Cabinet's 100-day report card at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Saturday, the CM said, "The previous government was focused on creating only 'naam' (hype), ours is a government aiming at 'kaam' (service)." "The previous government was built on 10 years of corruption and splitting the booty, but our government is devoted to serving people," said CM Gupta, announcing plans of the ruling BJP to take the just-released workbook on her government's performance to all 70 Assembly constituencies. She said, "The previous AAP government built a corruption-riddled 'Sheeshmahal' of crores of rupees, installed curtains and TVs worth lakhs of rupees and spent money earned through corruption on self-praise and publicity.' Earlier, CM Gupta said, "The workbook released today is a key document on the crucial development journey of the capital." "During the first 100 days have focused purely on public welfare and development," she said. "At events planned in each Assembly and MCD ward, our leaders will present a report card on the work done in the past 100 days and share a blueprint for their future plans," said CM Gupta. She also highlighted the gains of the "double engine" government in the city, benefiting from the support of the BJP-led government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Earlier, Education Minister Ashish Sood said the Delhi government has taken concrete steps for skill development. "The Directorate of Training and Technical Education is signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with four companies, including Maruti and Suzuki Motorcycle, to train Delhi students in their labs," he said.

Stalin to hold 20-km roadshow in Madurai on June 1

The ruling DMK will hold its general council meeting in Madurai on June 1 where party president and Chief minister M K Stalin is expected to hold a 20-km roadshow and sound the poll bugle for the 2026 assembly elections. Stalin on Friday wrote to his cadre that DMK is fighting against the BJP-led Union government against various issues for the state while he criticised the AIADMK mortgaging the rights of Tamil Nadu. The DMK has set a target to win 200 out of 234 assembly seats along with its allies. 'The party's general assembly will be meeting in Madurai with several serious discussions , including heartfelt opinions from general assembly members and decisions that will determine Indian politics and the development of Tamil Nadu,' Stalin said in his letter inviting cadre for the mega event. 'What should we do? What is our duty? What is our goal? Let's finalize it. Let's ensure the party's victory in 2026 and the continuation of good governance in Tamil Nadu.' Stalin said that his party's government does not have the habit of pawning state rights to the Union government for office like previous rulers in a veiled attack against the AIADMK. 'Even if the Union government refuses to provide funds for education, we are spending state government funds on education with the assurance that the bilingual policy given by Anna (DMK founder C N Annadurai) will remain here.... People of Tamil Nadu want this good governance to continue. The opposition parties, who cannot criticize the Dravidian model of governance, are trying hard to recover from their defeat by fabricating anything, spreading slander, and spreading fake news. The opposition parties, individually, in alliances, and holding secret consultations, have been engaged in propaganda efforts against us in the media and on social media.' Stalin also responded that concerns raised by him in his letter to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman regarding RBI draft guidelines on gold loans has been addressed. 'Protecting the interests of small borrowers, especially those seeking loans below Rs. 2 lakh such as farmers and daily earners and ensuring timely and accessible credit has been my consistent demand,' Stalin said. While appreciating the positive consideration given to this issue, we emphasize that such policies having significant impact on poor should be arrived after due prior consultation with States.

"Our duty to question pain faced by people": Delhi Congress slams govt over 'unfulfilled' promises, deteriorating law and order

New Delhi [India], May 31 (ANI): Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav on Thursday criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in Delhi for failing to deliver on key election promises and for the 'deteriorating' law and order of the national capital. Yadav further said that it is the party's 'duty' to question the pain faced by the people of Delhi as the BJP-led government completes 100 days here. 'We are constantly asking this question to the government of Delhi that you promised to give 2,500 rupees to women, where is that? You said that the cylinder will be given for five hundred rupees, where is that? You said that cylinder will be given in Holi, where is that?' the Delhi Congress president told ANI. Decrying the law and order situation in the national capital, he claimed that multiple rape, murders happen here, with Delhi becoming a 'drug capital.' 'Today, six rapes happen in Delhi (daily), murders happen, there are three robberies, with chain snatching we don't even know. Delhi has become the capital of drugs today. Where are you? You also have a central government and the corporation, but have you done any work for the betterment of Delhi? If you keep talking schemes, keep holding meetings, then it is not going to do good to the people of Delhi,' he said. 'With the completion of 100 days (of Rekha Gupta-led Delhi government), it is our duty to question the pain faced by the people of Delhi,' he added. He claimed that Congress used to 'rule the hearts of people,' referencing the 15 years of Sheila Dikshit as Chief Minister, adding, 'We used to rule in the hearts of the people of Delhi before, we have a place in the hearts of Delhi. We have been raising our voice continuously in the past and will continue to raise the issues in the same way.' Yadav further attacked former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, saying that after losing elections, he had 'completely disappeared.' He claimed that while Congress is helping the people, AAP is running away from elections. '(Arvind) Kejriwal has disappeared from Delhi like it is said that 'gadhe ke sar se seengh gayab ho jate hai' (like how horns disappear from a donkey's head). Law and order deteriorate in Delhi, and the opposition is not angry. Who will raise their voice? Congress does. The prices of milk rise in Delhi, or water fills in Delhi, Congress is on the streets helping, while AAP has disappeared. After three consecutive years in the corporation, today they run away from the elections,' he said. Earlier on Friday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta praised her cabinet ministers for their efforts and affirmed her government's commitment to development. 'We are very happy and satisfied that the rights the people of Delhi deserve are being delivered with full dedication by the government. And surely, as Viksit Bharat progresses, Viksit Delhi will also move forward and witness significant development,' CM Gupta said. The results of the Delhi Assembly elections, announced on February 8, saw the BJP secure a decisive mandate by winning 48 seats. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was pushed into the opposition with 22 seats, while the Congress failed to win a single seat for the third consecutive time. (ANI

Assam steps up illegal foreigners' ‘pushback', kin move court

1 2 3 Guwahati: Assam's BJP-led govt has accelerated the process of tracking down all individuals declared as illegal foreigners by Foreigners' Tribunals and is pushing them back to no-man's land between India and Bangladesh. At least 49 such 'declared foreign nationals (DFN)' have been pushed back from western and southern Assam in two days on May 27 and 29, following which at least three different petitioners have separately moved the Supreme Court and Gauhati High Court seeking whereabouts of their family members, suspected to have been pushed back, and a halt to the ongoing drive. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said, "30,000 people after being declared as foreign nationals by various tribunals over the years have disappeared. We have decided to speed up the process of detecting them, which was paused when the NRC was being updated. The moment we get them, we have to take action and we are working as per law." Sarma said in the coming days, there will lot of pushbacks. He underlined that a declared foreigner has the scope of appealing in the high court or Supreme Court. "Our procedure is a simple one — if one has not preferred an appeal in the higher court, his or her right to stay in India is forfeited. But if a declared foreigner can show that he or she has made an appeal, we are not disturbing him," Sarma said. "There are many who have shown the higher court's order. If judiciary has given a stay order (on their tribunal order declaring them as foreigner), we are respecting the judiciary and we have allowed such people to stay," Sarma said. Sarma added that there are two types of illegal foreigners — one category is people who are coming in and the other category who have been declared as foreigner by tribunals. "The Supreme Court (in February) has ordered that those declared as foreigners and have not made any appeal should be sent back by any means. Only yesterday, 35 Bangladeshis who came in few days ago were detected near the border with Meghalaya and in Silchar were immediate pushed back," Sarma said. On Thursday, Gauhati high court issued notice to the state govt directing it to provide details on the whereabouts of two brothers, who were declared foreigners by a tribunal and subsequently released on conditional bail. One Torap Ali, nephew of Abu Bakkar Siddik and Akbar Ali, in his petition in the high court, claimed that his family apprehends both his uncles 'may be in danger of being illegally pushed into Bangladesh'. The duo was declared as foreigners by a tribunal in 2017 and were sent to the transit camp in Goalpara. They were released on bail in 2020 following the Supreme Court's directive that those who are in detention for over two years may be released on bail. They were detained by police on May 24, the petitioner submitted and claimed that the authorities have refused to give details of the whereabouts of his two uncles. The court has posted the next date of hearing on June 4. Similarly the Supreme Court on Friday said it will hear on Monday a habeas corpus petition filed by a 26-year-old man stating that his mother Monowara Bewa of Dhubri, also a declared foreigner, was detained by police on May 24 and since then her whereabouts are not known. On the other hand, the All BTC Minority Students' Union (ABMSU) of Assam has also filed a petition in the Supreme Court highlighting the "grave violation of fundamental rights arising out of the ongoing deportation of Indian citizens under the guise of implementing" the apex court's Feb order. The organization has appealed to the court to declare the push-back policy "without due process—including judicial declaration, MEA verification, and exhaustion of remedies" unconstitutional. "This policy of push back— being executed in border districts like Dhubri, South Salmara, and Goalpara — is not only legally indefensible, but also threatens to render stateless numerous Indian citizens, especially those from poor and marginalised communities who were either declared foreigners ex-parte or have no access to legal aid to challenge their status,' the ABMSU stated in its petition.
