See Inside The 2027 BMW X5 Before It Strips For Reveal

See Inside The 2027 BMW X5 Before It Strips For Reveal originally appeared on Autoblog. G65 BMW X5 Approaches With New Looks The Autoblog spies have captured new spy shots of the upcoming 2027 BMW X5, internally known as the G65, and while the exterior hasn't changed much since our last sighting a month ago (only new wheels are evident), our spies have finally caught a glimpse of the cabin, revealing a new steering wheel that treads the line between round and square as part of a completely revised cabin. Much of the interior is still hidden beneath camouflaging drapery, but BMW's next-gen infotainment tech is on display, and it seems to be incorporated seamlessly. BMW Panoramic Vision View the 3 images of this gallery on the original article Unveiled at the top of the year at the Consumer Electronics Show, BMW Panoramic iDrive includes a new (optional) head-up display system called BMW Panoramic Vision, which features 3D overlays. This sits just ahead of the driver and can interact with the central display, swiping apps and readouts between the two. Below this, a narrow bar stretches from pillar to pillar just below the hood line. This acts as the driver information display but also handles other information according to the driver's customization preferences, keeping all the most important information near the line of sight. There will still be a conventional central infotainment display for media and settings that require a larger interface, but the idea is that the driver doesn't need to look away from the road to use this screen nearly as much as before. That steering wheel we mentioned earlier? Its touchpad controls may not be as tactile as a button, but BMW says haptic feedback will make glancing down a rare occurrence. What Else To Expect View the 4 images of this gallery on the original article The new infotainment system will form part of all Neue Klasse EVs, but also combustion vehicles built on the same platform. BMW likes to put its latest tech in existing vehicles whenever possible, which is why entry-level models like the X1 received iDrive 9 before more upmarket offerings like the 5 Series. As for which X5 variant we're looking at, the existence of a quad-exit exhaust setup indicates not the X5 M but the M Performance version of the regular X5, the M60i. For the G65 model launching next year, the name will become X5 M60e as the 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 mild-hybrid system will be swapped out for a plug-in hybrid six-cylinder, expected to deliver over 550 horsepower. Range-extender hybrids are also reportedly in development. Fortunately, full-fat M cars are expected to retain their traditional engines, so the X5 M should retain its V8. Man who caused death of niece weeks after she gave birth is gangster's brother

Criminal Assets Bureau claimed that sibling was involved in massive money-laundering operation A MAN who admitted causing the death of his niece after ramming steel gates with a van is the younger brother of a Limerick gangland figure. Danny O'Donoghue (42) pleaded guilty this week to dangerous driving causing the death of 21-year-old Marguerita O'Rourke in Rathkeale just days before Christmas. He also admitted possession of a machete, making threats to kill and causing criminal damage to a van. O'Donoghue who has been in custody since his arrest last December is due to be sentenced in October. His brother John O'Donoghue is a convicted drug dealer who has also been targeted by the Criminal Assets Bureau. John recently spent time in Portlaoise Prison before a conviction for a feud-related attack in Rathkeale was quashed on appeal and he was set free last year. His brother Danny appeared by video-link from the same prison this week at Limerick Circuit Court. John O'Donoghue Marguerita O'Rourke, who had her first child just three weeks earlier, had been closing steel gates to a property when Danny O'Donoghue hit the gates, killing her. The property is not far from the house where John O'Donoghue lives and which has been the target of an attempted pipe bomb attack in the past. It was also the scene of raid by the Criminal Assets Bureau. During his two years behind bars, it also emerged in a Cab case that John O'Donoghue was regarded as significant player in massive money laundering scheme. The senior investigating officer also described O'Donoghue as being 'closely associated' with Eds McCarthy, a leading figure in the McCarthy-Dundon gang. In the Cab case against a car firm, Bawn Motors, it was highlighted how O'Donoghue had 'established himself as a key figure in the international drugs trade' and has 'extensive criminal contacts with the wider Traveller community'. It was also stated he had met with Chirsty Keane, the leading member of Limerick's Keane gang at a Rathkeale pub along with one of Keane's most trusted lieutenants Dermot 'Pum' McManus. Flowers at Marguerita's funeral Since Marguerite's death family members have continued to post heartfelt tributes to the young woman expressing their huge sense of loss. Even this as news of the court case went online this week one woman commented: 'My beautiful sister you didn't deserve this l love you so much forever in my heart.' Her death last Christmas came after a number of incidents of violence in the Co Limerick town during the traditional influx of people ahead of Christmas. A house was damaged and in a shocking incident in which a BMW X5 was used to smash into property and was then set alight in November. In October a truck was used to damage a property in another incident and petrol bombs thrown at a house. Three years ago, Rathkeale saw a terrifying incident during the Christmas period in which a series of vehicles were rammed and written off. The Sunday World revealed at the time that the incident came as part of a three-way fight for dominance between criminal gangs. In a video of the aftermath a machete was visible lying on the road. Just a few weeks before Ms O'Rourke's tragic death, a man was attacked by hurley-wielding assailants and his car smashed up in the town. Marguerita O'Rourke (née Sheridan) Today's News in 90 Seconds - July 21st At one point there were plans to close a number of roads in the town as part of a garda operation did not go ahead after objections from local residents. Ms O'Rourke's funeral became a memorable as well as a huge vigil in the Co Limerick town, where balloons were released into the sky. Among the many heartfelt tributes online was one from her brother Freddy, who said at the time it had taken him days to able to put his feelings into words. He said that Christmas would never be the same, 'not just Christmas; my life will never be the same' and that she had left behind 'a very special boy.' He added that he couldn't believe he was saying 'rest in peace, our Marguerita.' Her father John paid tribute to the people who had shown such public support for the family for the daughter he described as 'a true legend.' Hundreds of family and friends turned out on Christmas at a candlelit vigil in the town on Christmas Eve. In a social media post he thanked 'the gardaí, nurses, doctors, priests, the settled people in Rathkeale, the Travelling people and everyone for their messages. 'The local shops, hotels for everything and everyone who called to my house and everyone over the world, thank you.'

Ex-Joburg mayor's widow battles Standard Bank over R2. 25m BMW X5 claim

The widow of late former Johannesburg mayor Jolidee Matongo, who died in an accident in September 2021, is fighting to force Standard Bank to settle the more than R2.22 million he still owes for the 2020 BMW X5 Drive 30DM Sport bought through the financial institution. Image: Bhekikhaya Mabaso / Independent Newspapers Late former Johannesburg mayor Jolidee Matongo's widow is fighting Standard Bank's decision to refuse to settle the R2.25 million BMW X5 for which he owed more than R2.22m. At the time of his death in September 2021, Matongo had not taken credit life cover on the vehicle. Standard Bank financed the BMW X5 Drive 30DM Sport 2020 bought from Supertech Shelly Beach on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast in June 2021 for just over R2.25m. In the fight to force the bank to pay, it has since emerged that Matongo had a straight life cover policy but not credit life insurance. A month after Matongo died in a car accident on the Golden Highway near Lenasia, south of Joburg, his widow, Kedibone Matongo, approached Standard Bank to lodge a claim. In April the following year, she received communication from the bank advising her that there was no credit life cover on the vehicle and that the total amount outstanding on the vehicle was just above R2.22m. Former Joburg mayor Jolidee Matongo. Image: City of Joburg / Facebook Kedibone received a R2m payout for life cover, and Standard Bank also informed her that her late husband declined or opted not to take credit life cover for the vehicle. The bank also stated that he also signed an agreement confirming that the benefits of credit insurance were fully explained to him and that unless the costs of the credit expressly provided otherwise, he had chosen not to take out such insurance. The bank also indicated that her husband was given the option to take credit life cover but chose not to and instead undertook to make his own arrangements. Unhappy with the bank's decision, Kedibone took the matter to the Office of the Ombud for Financial Services Providers (FAIS Ombud). However, the FAIS Ombud dismissed her complaint, and she referred the matter to the Financial Services Tribunal. In September 2023, the tribunal also dismissed Kedibone's application for leave to have the matter reconsidered as there were no prospects of success, and due to her underlying claim exceeding R800,000, which was the limit of the ombud's jurisdiction at the time. Undeterred, she took her fight to the Gauteng High Court, Pretoria, which, in October last year, reviewed and set aside the tribunal's ruling and referred the matter back to it (tribunal) for reconsideration by a new panel. On Tuesday, the tribunal, whose panel members were retired judges Malesela Legodi, Dennis Davis, and senior counsel Sandile Khumalo, dismissed the latest application for reconsideration. During the tribunal, Kedibone had argued that credit life cover was taken and paid for every month until her husband's death and that the total vehicle costs included a premium for the credit life cover. The tribunal found that she was mistaken. 'The bank is alleged to have failed to ensure that the complainant's (Kedibone's) late husband understood his rights and obligations and the risk and costs associated with not taking credit life cover in relation to the vehicle in question. 'This is speculative and without the facts upon which the allegation is based,' the panel explained. It found that twice Matongo opted not to take credit life cover – first when he completed contractual documents at the dealer's place of business and secondly when he completed and signed the instalment sale agreement with Standard Bank. Kedibone had submitted that in terms of the National Credit Act, her husband was within his rights to refuse the insurance offer by the third party (the dealer) on account of organising his own, and that legislative option by him cannot be said to be a refusal of an insurance policy offered by Standard Bank. 'The decision by the first respondent (FAIS Ombud) that he (Matongo) was offered by the second respondent (Standard Bank) and refused the offer stands to be reconsidered and set aside,' she stated. Kedibone's legal representatives Adolff Attorneys did not respond to requests for comment on Wednesday. [email protected]
