Mother's Day came first, and actually inspired Father's Day. According to the commercialized Mother's Day we know and celebrate in the U.S. today began in 1908, but its origins can be traced all the way back to the mid-1800s. 'The 'Mother's Day' we celebrate today has its origins in the peace-and-reconciliation campaigns of the post-Civil War era. During the 1860s, at the urging of activist Ann Reeves Jarvis, one divided West Virginia town celebrated 'Mother's Work Days' that brought together the mothers of Confederate and Union soldiers …' says. 'In 1909, 45 states observed the day, and in 1914, President Woodrow Wilson approved a resolution that made the second Sunday in May a holiday in honor of 'that tender, gentle army, the mothers of America.'' But Father's Day took a little while longer to get off the ground, due to gender norms of the time. According to the Old Farmer's Almanac and Lawrence R. Samuel, author of 'American Fatherhood: A Cultural History," 'Men had a different role in the family during the first half of that century. It was patriarchal, so they felt that a special day to exalt fatherhood was a rather silly idea, when it was mothers who were underappreciated.' It wasn't until 1972, under President Richard Nixon, that Congress passed an act officially making Father's Day a national holiday. But the first Father's Day celebration can be traced all the way back to 1908, around the same time Mother's Day kicked off in the U.S. 'The first known Father's Day service occurred in Fairmont, West Virginia, on July 5, 1908, after hundreds of men died in the worst mining accident in U.S. history,' the Old Farmer's Almanac says. But the observance didn't become an annual or nationally observed event. A year later, Sonora Smart Dodd, a 27-year-old in Spokane, Washington, was inspired by Mother's Day and came up with the idea to set aside a day in June to celebrate dads. 'She proposed June 5, her father's birthday, but the ministers chose the third Sunday in June so that they would have more time after Mother's Day (the second Sunday in May) to prepare their sermons,' the almanac says. 'On June 19, 1910, the first Father's Day events commenced: Sonora delivered presents to handicapped fathers, boys from the YMCA decorated their lapels with fresh-cut roses (red for living fathers, white for the deceased), and the city's ministers devoted their homilies to fatherhood.' The first bill to make Father's Day a holiday was presented to Congress just a few years later in 1913, but didn't pass. Eight years later, President Calvin Coolidge signed a resolution in favor of establishing a Father's Day and in 1966, President Lyndon Johnson signed an executive order dictating that the holiday would be celebrated on the third Sunday of June. In 1972, Congress approved an act to make it a national holiday, under Nixon. FBI: Most Wanted's Closure-Filled Series Finale Reveals a Pregnancy, a Big Career Move and a New [Spoiler]

The following contains spoilers from the Season 6 — aka series — finale. Because it was officially cancelled nearly three months ago, CBS' FBI: Most Wanted had, and clearly made use of, the time to set steer its season finale into a proper series finale. More from TVLine The Voice's Season 27 Winner Is... Sadly, the FBI: International Series Finale Barely Featured OG Agents Vo and Raines - Grade It Spine-Tingling FBI Season 7 Finale Leaves [Spoiler]'s Life in Limbo The final Case of the Week was no great shakes. It showed promise as a 'ripped from the headlines' riff on Elon Musk and DOGE (here named BOGO) shutting down government agencies and firing federal workers en masse, complete with young tech bros calling the shots. The twist was that two of the BOGO bros were working a side hustle and schemed to access a federal server so as to create a 'kill switch' for the national cyber grid, to auction off to the highest bidder. In the end, though, they were in over their head and a quite inept, so both were either shot or in cuffs by almost 10:45 pm. The rest of the episode — including a cold open set in Houston, where Nina showed her sister off to Dallas, before having a nice moment with their father — was focused on team member updates and, ultimately, closure. Whilst sitting on a POI, Nina updated Ray on the sitch with her sis, after which he shared that he and Cory are having another baby. Then, at a 'soft opening' for Remy and Abby's restaurant/58th birthday party for the former, more updates trickled out. Hana shared that Ethan would be leaving rehab, 90 days clean, and they are moving in together. And there was more talk of the Nina/Tink and Ray/Cora developments. Remy then took the floor and detailed how, at age 58, he had decided not to once again apply to supercede the Bureau's mandatory retirement age (57). Instead, he told SAC Castille that he has decided to retire, so as to 'spend more time with the love of my life' as well as their new business venture. And who better to fill Remy's shoes than Sheryll, who will pass on the opportunity in D.C. and instead step up as the New York Fugitive Task Force's new team leader! Remy then led everyone, drinks in hand, outside the dive bar-turned-restaurant to 'see something.' He then flicked a switch to reveal the establishment's new sign and name: The Muster Room, which Abby signed off on. 'To family,' Remy toasted, as the camera pulled back on the team, and the series faded to black… Want scoop on , or for any other TV show?
