Housefull 5 teaser: Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh film promises five times the madness, ten times the cast; there's a murder too. Watch

The wildest cruise of the year is here with Housefull 5 whose teaser promises 'five times the madness, mayhem, and mirth.' The beloved comedy franchise is back, and this time it's not just another laugh riot, it's India's only comedy franchise to reach its fifth installment. At over 1 minute, the Housefull 5 teaser basically introduces its cast and the list is quite long. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film retains its iconic pillars — Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Chunky Pandey — who have been around since the franchise's inception. They're joined by other familiar faces from past Housefull outings, including Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Jackie Shroff, Ranjeet and Nargis Fakhri. Alongside the veteran crew, the film also brings aboard a fresh batch of actors — Sanjay Dutt, Nana Patekar, Chitrangda Singh, Fardeen Khan, Johnny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea, Ranjeet, Soundarya Sharma, Nikitin Dheer, and Akashdeep Sabir. The teaser sets the tone on a lavish cruise ship, where each character is stylishly introduced in slo-mo to upbeat music. But just when you think it's all fun and games, things take a darkly comic turn. A murderer takes place onboard, and one among this 'housefull' is the killer. The film is being cheekily described as a 'killer comedy.' Earlier, speaking about the film, Sanjay Dutt said at an event, 'I am doing Housefull; that's another crazy comedy, and Baaghi is an action-emotion kind of film. So I think I'm lucky to have these kinds of genres to work in.' The story is crafted by producer Sajid Nadiadwala himself, with the screenplay handled by Mansukhani and Farhad Samji. The story is supposed to add layers of suspense to the franchise's usual brand of slapstick fun. Interestingly, the teaser dropped on a rather nostalgic date, exactly 15 years since the original Housefull released. It's a fitting tribute to a franchise that has grown from chaotic beginnings to full-blown comedy tradition.
