Smart meter rollout sparks outcry

Vijayawada: CPM State Committee members Baburao and D Kasinath vehemently criticised the Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Company Limited (APCPDCL)'s directive to install smart meters in residential homes. They displayed copies of the orders issued by APCPDCL while addressing a press conference here on Sunday. Baburao stated that it is 'deplorable' that the coalition government has ordered the installation of Adani prepaid smart electricity meters in homes as its 'first anniversary gift.' Within the CPDCL's jurisdiction, 1.028 million homes in major cities across the combined Krishna, Guntur, and Prakasam districts, totalling 17.24 lakh meters, have been slated for installation. Baburao asserted that the installation of Adani smart meters in every home is a 'systematic arrangement for Adani's permanent exploitation' of every family every day, every hour. The phased installation of 20 million smart meters in every home and commercial establishment across the state is estimated to impose a burden of Rs 25,000 crore on the public, with each meter and its maintenance costing approximately Rs 13,000. Consumers will reportedly be charged a meter rental fee of Rs 100 to Rs 200 per month for 93 months without their full awareness. The 'Time of the Day' metering system, which will record readings hourly and charge higher rates during peak consumption hours at night, will impose an 'even greater burden.' Baburao said that the Electricity Regulatory Commission has already amended its regulations to facilitate this, with the government issuing directives for meter installation for every consumer, including residential homes. He noted that an Adani office and warehouse have already been established at Vidyut Soudha, the main electricity office in Vijayawada, signifying the handing over of the electricity sector. He listed the towns where residential meter installations are initially ordered under CPDCL: Vijayawada, Guntur, Machilipatnam, Ongole, Chilakaluripeta, Gudivada, Amaravati, and Mangalagiri. He demanded a halt to smart meter installations in residential homes, removal of meters already installed in commercial establishments, cancellation of the meter agreement with Adani, and abolition of electricity adjustment charges. Kashi Nath added that a plan has been devised to install smart meters in 352,936 homes in Vijayawada alone. He mentioned that several protests have already been held in Vijayawada. He concluded by stating that it is 'improper' for 'father and son' Chandrababu and Lokesh to go back on their word.

Is Himesh Reshammiya not happy with Paresh Rawal's exit from Hera Pheri 3? Singer REACTS during Mumbai concert

Whenever we talk about Hera Pheri, it would be incomplete without the mention of Baburao. The iconic character of Bollywood cinemas, which was brought to life by Paresh Rawal became will always be remembered irrespective of his being a part of the franchise or not. In the past couple of days, fans' dreams have been shattered after the news of his exit came to the forefront. From Suniel Shetty, Akshay Kumar to Johnny Lever, everyone has reacted to this. And now the latest name added to this list is that of Himesh Reshammiya, who did not leave a moment to praise the star for his brilliant performance in parts 1 and 2. During his concert in Mumbai, Himesh Reshammiya made sure to leave the crowd dancing to his tunes. In a brief moment, the singer praised Paresh Rawal, right before he was about to sing a song from Phir Hera Pheri. He said, 'Hera Pheri 1 he was fantastic, Hera Pheri 2 he was fantastic, he was also great in…' and he started singing the Jumme Raat song from the second part of the franchise. Well, we are sure that if Paresh Rawal does not play Baburao in Hera Pheri 3, then the experience of watching this comedy caper is just not going to be the same for everyone. For the unversed, Bollywood Hungama reported that Paresh Rawal has exited Hera Pheri 3 over creative differences between him and the makers. Later, the actor himself took to X (formerly Twitter) and shared that his decision to step away from Hera Pheri 3 wasn't due to creative differences. He also shared having 'immense love, respect and faith' in filmmaker Priyadarshan. Earlier, Pinkvilla exclusively reported that the producers of Hera Pheri 3, Cape of Good Films, have sent a legal notice to Paresh Rawal for damages of Rs 25 crore. A source shared, 'Cape of Good Films had procured the rights of Hera Pheri 3 from multiple stakeholders and even repaid all the debts existing on the film. The amount splurged was in crores, as the intent was to get back Hera Pheri on the big screen after 20 years for the audience. Paresh's unprofessional behaviour has cost a bomb to the film.' Well, amidst all this, we really hope Rawal returns as Baburao in the 3rd part.

Hera Pheri: Exploring the iconic dialogues of the Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Suneil Shetty comedy franchise

The 'Hera Pheri' franchise isn't just a comedy series — it's a cultural phenomenon. The original film, released in 2000, and its sequel, 'Phir Hera Pheri,' in 2006, carved a legendary space in Bollywood with unforgettable characters and timeless humour. Though currently, 'Hera Pheri 3' is making headlines for the controversy surrounding Paresh Rawal's exit, fans are revisiting the franchise's most iconic moments and legendary dialogues. Here are some of the Famous dialogue everybody remembers to this date: 'Utha le re deva, utha le... mereko nahi re, in dono ko utha le!' Speaker: Baburao (Paresh Rawal) One of the most ageless lines from 'Hera Pheri,' this moment captures Baburao's hysterical frustration with his housemates. As Raju and Shyam argue constantly, Babu Bhaiya pleads with God to take them away, not him! The timing, expression, and delivery still have audiences in stitches every time. '25 din mein paisa double!' Speaker: Raju (Akshay Kumar) This line from Phir Hera Pheri really took off and became a well-known meme. Raju delivers it with such confidence when he hears about a scheme that claims to double your money in just 25 days. He's all in on it, while Babu Bhaiya is left feeling confused and anxious. The humour in the scene comes from how seriously Raju takes it, even though the whole plan sounds way too good to be true. 'Yeh Babu Rao ka style hai!' Speaker: Baburao (Paresh Rawal) This line became Baburao's trademark catchphrase. Whether he's trying to fix a phone or navigating a crisis with absolutely no logic, Babu Bhaiya takes pride in saying it's all part of his 'style.' The way he delivers it — with his glasses askew and a charming lisp — has made it truly iconic. 'Mujhe ghar jaana hai!' Speaker: Raju (Akshay Kumar) Babu Bhaiya's reaction: 'Toh jaa na, kisne roka hai!' In this scene, Raju is in a total panic, repeatedly shouting this line as chaos unfolds around him. Babu Bhaiya's innocent yet slightly annoyed reply is pure comedic gold. Their back-and-forth showcases not only their impeccable comedic timing but also the genuine friendship they share. 'Control Uday, control!' Speaker: Baburao (Paresh Rawal) Baburao says this line while trying to calm down a gangster during a tense phone call, but ends up mispronouncing everything. His innocent tone and funny way of speaking make the scene hilarious. 'Khopdi tod saale ka!' Speaker: Raju (Akshay Kumar) Used multiple times by Raju when things go out of hand, this line is as street-smart as it is hilarious. His quick temper and short fuse contrast beautifully with Baburao's cluelessness, creating peak comedy. The wit and charm of the characters continue to resonate, reminding us that laughter truly knows no bounds. "Abe tu kya leke aaya tha, aur kya leke jaayega?' Speaker: Baburao (Paresh Rawal) Babu Bhaiya's philosophical outburst during a petty argument is both deep and ridiculous. The way he delivers it — with his classic mispronunciation — makes it unforgettable. Tell us these lines are not taking you down memory lane! "Arre baba, tention nahi leneka!' Speaker: Baburao (Paresh Rawal) Babu Bhaiya has this funny habit of saying that when everything seems to be spiralling out of control, as if just saying it will somehow make everything better! His ability to stay calm and offer advice, even in the craziest of situations, is what makes this line so hilarious and unforgettable. Hera Pheri's charm lies not just in its humour but in the endearing dynamics between its characters that continue to resonate with audiences, making it a timeless classic. Why there's no Hera Pheri without Paresh Rawal's Baburao Ganpatrao Apte

Paresh Rawal's recent departure from 'Hera Pheri 3' brings disappointment to fans who have showered love to the franchise over the years. Not just the millennials, even the Gen Z have been nostalgic about the character portrayed by Rawal in 'Hera Pheri' (2000) and 'Phir Hera Pheri' (2006), respectively. While there is uncertainty about who can play Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, here's a look at the reasons that make Rawal the only convincing actor to portray the Rawal's Iconic charmRawal, who has worked in more than 250 films in his acting career and played versatile roles, brought a rare novelty to the character of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte. The actor brought unique dialogue delivery, body language, and vulnerability to his performance. It would be a Herculean task for any other actor to replicate the same naive charm, mischief, innocence and vulnerability as Rawal. Popular one-liners like "Yeh Baburao ka style hai (This is Baburao's style)" have become immortal because of the actor's artistic finesse. It's also his comic timings that the audience identifies with the character. Rawal's off-screen camaraderie with Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty is reflected in their performances in 'Hera Pheri' and 'Phir Hera Pheri.' This is not the only film which features their undeniable bonding. They have worked together in 'Awara Pagal Deewana,' and 'Deewane Huye Pagal', among other films, and yet the characters in the 'Hera Pheri' franchise do not lose their relevance. The fact that Rawal, Shetty and Kumar worked in simultaneous projects did not impact the narrative and performances in the 'Hera Pheri' franchise. Rawal acts as the pillar who balances the chemistry of the trio on-screen. Paresh Rawal's chemistry with Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty cannot be replicated. Baburao's one-liners are pure meme material, but only if delivered in Rawal's style. From teenagers in the 2000s to meme makers in the 2020s, the character has been used by everyone as memes and satires and spoofs on society, relationships, sports and even as Baburao will remain a cinematic icon in the history of Indian cinema irrespective of the fate of the Reel

When Paresh Rawal Said He Got Stuck With Hera Pheri Character Baburao: " Dum Ghutta Hai"

New Delhi: Paresh Rawal has been embroiled in controversy after Akshay Kumar sued him for Rs 25 crore as he left Hera Pheri 3 midway. Akshay's production company Cape Of Good Films, reportedly, sent him a legal notice two days (May 20) after he confirmed his exit from the film through an X post (May 18). Meanwhile, an old interview of Paresh Rawal has been doing the rounds on social media where Paresh Rawal said his Hera Pheri character Baburao feels like a "gale ka phanda" (a tight noose) to him as he has been stuck with that image for years. In an interview with The Lallantop a few weeks ago, Paresh Rawal confessed that even he takes up the role of Baburao in the sequel, he doesn't feel "happy" from within. When asked how many times he gets the compliment for his cult role of Baburao in Hera Pheri (2000) even after 25 years of its release, the film veteran shared a few anecdotes. "I went to Vishal Bhardwaj [director] in 2007. In 2006, Hera Pheri 2 was released. I told him that I have a film. I want to get rid of this image. You are the person who can offer me a completely different role in the same getup," revealed Mr Rawal. When Vishal Bhardwaj asked him why he wanted to get rid of this image, the actor said, "Whoever comes to me, he has an image of Hera Pheri in mind. I am an actor. I don't want to get stuck at one place." Then Paresh Rawal described the storyline of the film titled Dancer In The Dark where the protagonist wore a similar spectacle like Paresh Rawal wore in Hera Pheri, hinting at a possibility of a new character within the same trope. However, when Vishal Bhardwaj rejected his offer as he's not inclined to make remakes, Paresh Rawal approached R Balki for an out-of-the-box character. "I asked him to offer me a new character in the same getup. I felt happy but dum ghutta hai (I felt choked). I need mukti (liberation) from that role," Paresh Rawal admitted. Paresh Rawal also criticised the Bollywood trend of making sequels only to spin money. "For instance, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. and Lage Raho Munna Bhai - the two films have different trajectories as they picked up different subjects with the same protagonists," explained Paresh Rawal. Referring to his Hera Pheri character, Paresh Rawal added, "It's a 500 crore goodwill character. If a maker wants, he can upscale the character to a different height. But people have either mental bankruptcy or mental lethargy to take a plunge." Take a look at the video here: Paresh Rawal shared a post on X, clarifying that he didn't leave Hera Pheri 3 over creative differences or money issues. He claimed that he had informed director Priyadarshan and co-actors Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty about his decision of quitting the film. However, Priyadarshan and Suneil Shetty told in public that they were not informed.
