Kathy Swarts Defends ‘Golden Bachelor' Mel Owens
Bachelor Nation is no stranger to controversial casting. And the franchise's Golden Bachelor spinoff is no exception. Last month, Golden Bachelor season 2 lead Mel Owens came under fire for saying that he wouldn't date any women over 60—despite being 66 years old himself—causing many to doubt his future on the show. One person who's not convinced it should cost him the lead spot, however, is speaking out. Golden Bachelor alum Kathy Swarts is defending Mel, saying in a recent interview that she thinks he's in it for the right reasons. Kathy, who can currently be seen frolicking poolside on Bachelor in Paradise, isn't taking Mel's comments too seriously. 'I think that if Mel Owens met me—and I'm over 70—that line would just not even be in his mouth,' she told Entertainment Weekly. 'It'd be like, 'Whoa, I never knew someone could be this fabulous over 60, over 70.'' She continued, 'I think Mel is a guy looking for love and I think he said something without really thinking about it. I don't think he meant it.' Despite reports that Mel had been fired from Golden Bachelor, no official announcements have been made, so for now, he remains the lead. And while many in Bachelor Nation might not be inclined to tune in to support a man so blatantly ageist, Kathy said she'll be watching. 'I think it's going to be a great season,' she said. 'I personally can't wait—unless I swoop in and take him away. In which case, show over!' In case you forgot, during a June 4 appearance on the In the Trenches with Jon Jansen podcast, Mel said that he specifically told producers that he preferred women aged 45 to 60, adding, 'I said, 'If they're 60 or over, I'm cutting them.'' According to him, producers pushed back, appeasing him with, 'They're gonna be hot, don't worry about it.' His other non-negotiables? He expects the contestants on his Golden Bachelor season to 'be fit' and says he told producers, 'Try and stay away from the artificial hips and the wigs.' How charming.

Wells Adams Compares Dale Moss' ‘Bachelor in Paradise' Love Interest Kat Izzo to Clare Crawley
Dale Moss returned to Bachelor Nation for another shot at love — but will history end up repeating itself? During the July 7 premiere of Bachelor in Paradise, Dale, 36, went on a date with Kat Izzo and based on the teaser for the season, the twosome's relationship will continue to develop. While Kat, 29, previously appeared on season 27 of The Bachelor and got engaged to John Henry on season 9 of BiP, fans saw Dale for a handful of episodes on season 16 of The Bachelorette, during which he got engaged to Clare Crawley less than two weeks into production. With both Clare (who appeared on five different Bachelor shows) and Kat being known for the dramatics, Paradise bartender Wells Adams thinks Dale could be in trouble. "You're surprised that the hottest person on the beach found the other hottest person on the beach and decided to make out together? No one has ever seen this happen! Listen, I'm happy for Dale,' Wells, 41, recently told Us Weekly in an exclusive interview. 'I think he deserves a really good shot at this. His initial, like, foyer into The Bachelor world was weird. It was much different than anybody, anybody else's. Now what's funny is that Clare was ... fun and Kat's fun. So he might have a little bit of a type." Dale Moss Explains His Return to 'The Bachelor' Franchise: 'I Wanted to Give Up Control' When Us pointed out that fans see in the trailer that Kat has a 'bit of a meltdown,' Wells replied, "And how many meltdowns do we see Clare have? This is now happening where I'm like, 'Oh yeah, this is a pattern.'" (Never forget Clare and that raccoon!) Hannah Brown, who joined the season in a 'Paradise Relations' role, also acknowledged Kat brought some dramatics to Costa Rica. 'Kat is a very different version of Kat from last season, but that does not mean that there will not be quite a few tears. She didn't change that much — [but] she's grown,' Hannah, 30, told Us. 'I know for Kat, she's a little apprehensive about doing this whole experience again and so I just loved talking to her to be able to, like, put herself out there. And equally with Dale. He has a very unique experience unlike anyone else in this franchise. It was shocking, but a pleasant surprise to see him hit the beach.' Clare Crawley's Dating History: A Guide to Her Bachelor Nation Romances and Beyond Hannah added, 'I'm just really rooting for both of them to have a happy new experience this time on the beach.' Bachelor in Paradise airs on ABC Mondays at 8 p.m. ET.

Justin Glaze and Lexi Young After ‘Bachelor in Paradise' Rose Ceremony
We're only two episodes deep into Bachelor in Paradise season 10, and the cast is already getting into some (on and off-camera) drama. It's exactly what we're tuned in for. Tensions were high after a rose ceremony on the July 14 episode, where Justin Glaze had to make the tough decision between his budding romance with Lexi Young and keeping his ex, Susie Evans, in Costa Rica. Justin sacrificed his connection with Lexi when he saved his rose for Susie…who ended up declining the offer. Monday night's episode then ended on a major cliffhanger as Justin walked off camera. He reflected on the difficult moment during a July 15 appearance on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, saying, 'I feel bad for how that all went down. I mean, I stand by the choice that I made. I don't have any regrets about it, but I do feel bad, and I do wish that we could have had a conversation beforehand... We weren't allowed to.' The Bachelor Nation alum, who's appeared on ABC's summer spin-off of the famous franchise twice now, admitted that he chose Susie over Lexi because he 'was trying to do something selfless for someone who is selfless.' As for why she turned down his rose, he revealed he 'had no clue' that she would make that choice. He clarified that he had no intention of rekindling his romance with Susie, but he wanted to save her so she had a chance to connect with the next batch of Bachelor Nation men who would join the cast the following week. As for where he stands with Lexi, Justin shared that he reached out to her twice after the show, but never received a response. 'I kind of wanted to just put it out there, like, 'Hey, this is what I was feeling during the show. This is also what I've heard. These are all the things that led me to the decision that I made,'' he explained. 'And just have that dialogue. But I totally understand not wanting to have that conversation, I guess. I respect that from her. But I tried.' The pair then had a public heated discussion in the comments section of his most recent Instagram Reel, where a fan wrote, 'Bro, totally fine if you still have feelings for your very sweet ex, but don't lead another very sweet girl on. Just own your feelings and tell her that her intuition was right. Why waste her time?' Justin replied with some behind-the-scenes context that wasn't televised. 'I had no intention to lead anyone on. I was very intentional with who I pursued,' he wrote. 'But unfortunately the same interest was not reciprocated for days, where I was then informed that this person didn't have interest in dating someone that didn't live where she lived, was unsure if we wanted the same things out of life, well as telling me to pursue other women as she wanted to pursue other men, prior to ending things with me.' Lexi fired back, saying that his story was 'simply not true.' She went on to add, 'As someone who claims to value communication, I suggest you reflect on how you show up in that space, because this narrative isn't it. I won't let you twist my words or rewrite my truth. We both know the reality of what happened. I genuinely hope you take the time to grow and heal so you don't repeat this kind of behavior with someone else. Wishing you clarity and accountability on that path.' Justin doubled down on his statement from the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, saying that she hasn't given him 'a chance' to talk things through off-camera. 'I absolutely value communication,' he countered. 'I've tried to reach out to you twice post show in an effort to communicate in which I've received zero response from you. Nonetheless still apologize for what transpired and wish you the best.' Lexi's response: 'I asked you directly to come to me if anything changed, and you chose not to. That lack of respect speaks volumes. I didn't reach out after the show because, frankly, there was nothing left to say. I'm moving on with my life. Wishing you clarity and healing.'

Who Went Home On ‘Bachelor in Paradise' Season 10, Episode 2?
As a longtime Bachelor Nation member, I've seen my fair share of gasp-worthy moments, twists, and cliffhangers over the years. But I still wasn't expecting the chaos at the end of Bachelor in Paradise Season 10, Episode 2. After a tame Season 10 premiere, Bachelor in Paradise Week 2 dialed up the drama by giving the men the roses and inviting four new women to the beach. Among the newbies was Justin Glaze's ex, Susie Evans, who he mentioned to his Paradise crush, Lexi Young, in Week 1. Young was concerned about dating someone who had a recent breakup. So Susie's presence predictably heightened emotions… Who else joined the Bachelor in Paradise Season 10 cast? Who went on a date? Who went home on Bachelor in Paradise Season 10, Episode 2? And what the heck was the big rose ceremony twist?! Decider's got answers! As Decider's exclusive Week 2 clip showed, Bachelor Season 19's Parisa Shifteh and Alli Jo Hinkes 'came in hot.' Later, Bachelor Season 16/Paradise Season 8 contestant Jill Chin returned. Then Susie hit the beach in the most highly-anticipated arrival. After Parisa and Alli Jo arrived, the group had their most 'diabolical' chemistry test yet. The 'Kiss and Don't Tell' booth gave contestants a chance to swipe right or left on fellow Paradisers. If two contestants matched, they went to a kissing booth for a private smooch sesh they could choose to keep secret. A free pass to cheat, experiment, and confirm mutual physical attraction! Parisa defied Zoe's pleas to steer clear of her man and invited Brian on a date, while Alli Jo asked Jonathon. The four went on a double date to a bar for game night, dancing, and conversation. Meanwhile, Jill arrived, frustrated to learn so many people were paired off. And Susie appeared just as Lexi was telling Justin they had to take a break because of his breakup. Jill asked her pal Jonathon on a date to the VIP BIP suite, and Susie took Jeremy jet skiing. Though Jill and Jonathon shared a kiss, the date was stuck in the friend zone. Jeremy was very attracted to Susie, but he also cared about Bailey. And Susie was distracted by unresolved feelings for Justin, who she dated for over a year. Ultimately, Susie pulled Lexi aside and gave her the green light to pursue a romance with Justin. Susie and Justin had emotional catch-ups. And Justin and Lexi seemingly rekindled their relationship… Spencer predictably gave his stem to Jess. Dale chose Kat. Jeremy chose Bailey. Brian betrayed Zoe and chose Parisa. And Jonathon chose Alexe. With one rose left, Susie, Alli Jo, and Zoe were seemingly going home. Lexi was a shoo-in for Justin's rose, but he blindsided everyone by saying Susie's name. 'You mean the world to me. I told you no matter what I'd protect you and have your back,' he told a shocked Susie, who declined the stem. The episode ended with jaws dropped, a devastated Lexi, and Justin walking off set. Did Justin want to get back together with Susie or simply give her a chance to find love? And will all three contestants head home? To be continued… Bachelor in Paradise Season 10, Episode 3 premieres Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
