'Bachelor's' Nick Viall, Natalie Joy to host Netflix dating series
Nick Viall and Natalie Joy attend the MTV Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted in 2022. They are set to host a new reality dating series on Netflix. File Photo by Jim Ruymen/UPI | License Photo July 18 (UPI) -- Bachelor alumni Nick Viall and his wife, Natalie Joy, are slated to host an age-gap dating reality series on Netflix. The streamer announced that the couple will helm Age of Attraction, which features participants between 22 and 59 years of age. "In this new dating experiment, it simply does not matter how many candles were on your last birthday cake or how few wrinkles have formed on your forehead," an official synopsis reads. "Age is thrown out the window as singles search for their soulmates with help from hosts Nick Viall and Natalie Joy." Viall, 44, is nearly two decades older than Joy, 26. They married in April of 2024, two months after their daughter River Rose Viall was born. In March, Joy shared that she was experiencing a second miscarriage. The couple had been dating about four years prior to marriage. Viall is well known for appearing in two seasons of The Bachelorette, where he courted Andi Dorfman and Kaitlyn Bristowe. He proposed to Vanessa Grimaldi after his season of The Bachelor, but the relationship didn't last, and he starred in Season 3 of Bachelor in Paradise.

Kathy Swarts Defends ‘Golden Bachelor' Mel Owens
Bachelor Nation is no stranger to controversial casting. And the franchise's Golden Bachelor spinoff is no exception. Last month, Golden Bachelor season 2 lead Mel Owens came under fire for saying that he wouldn't date any women over 60—despite being 66 years old himself—causing many to doubt his future on the show. One person who's not convinced it should cost him the lead spot, however, is speaking out. Golden Bachelor alum Kathy Swarts is defending Mel, saying in a recent interview that she thinks he's in it for the right reasons. Kathy, who can currently be seen frolicking poolside on Bachelor in Paradise, isn't taking Mel's comments too seriously. 'I think that if Mel Owens met me—and I'm over 70—that line would just not even be in his mouth,' she told Entertainment Weekly. 'It'd be like, 'Whoa, I never knew someone could be this fabulous over 60, over 70.'' She continued, 'I think Mel is a guy looking for love and I think he said something without really thinking about it. I don't think he meant it.' Despite reports that Mel had been fired from Golden Bachelor, no official announcements have been made, so for now, he remains the lead. And while many in Bachelor Nation might not be inclined to tune in to support a man so blatantly ageist, Kathy said she'll be watching. 'I think it's going to be a great season,' she said. 'I personally can't wait—unless I swoop in and take him away. In which case, show over!' In case you forgot, during a June 4 appearance on the In the Trenches with Jon Jansen podcast, Mel said that he specifically told producers that he preferred women aged 45 to 60, adding, 'I said, 'If they're 60 or over, I'm cutting them.'' According to him, producers pushed back, appeasing him with, 'They're gonna be hot, don't worry about it.' His other non-negotiables? He expects the contestants on his Golden Bachelor season to 'be fit' and says he told producers, 'Try and stay away from the artificial hips and the wigs.' How charming.

Wells Adams Compares Dale Moss' ‘Bachelor in Paradise' Love Interest Kat Izzo to Clare Crawley
Dale Moss returned to Bachelor Nation for another shot at love — but will history end up repeating itself? During the July 7 premiere of Bachelor in Paradise, Dale, 36, went on a date with Kat Izzo and based on the teaser for the season, the twosome's relationship will continue to develop. While Kat, 29, previously appeared on season 27 of The Bachelor and got engaged to John Henry on season 9 of BiP, fans saw Dale for a handful of episodes on season 16 of The Bachelorette, during which he got engaged to Clare Crawley less than two weeks into production. With both Clare (who appeared on five different Bachelor shows) and Kat being known for the dramatics, Paradise bartender Wells Adams thinks Dale could be in trouble. "You're surprised that the hottest person on the beach found the other hottest person on the beach and decided to make out together? No one has ever seen this happen! Listen, I'm happy for Dale,' Wells, 41, recently told Us Weekly in an exclusive interview. 'I think he deserves a really good shot at this. His initial, like, foyer into The Bachelor world was weird. It was much different than anybody, anybody else's. Now what's funny is that Clare was ... fun and Kat's fun. So he might have a little bit of a type." Dale Moss Explains His Return to 'The Bachelor' Franchise: 'I Wanted to Give Up Control' When Us pointed out that fans see in the trailer that Kat has a 'bit of a meltdown,' Wells replied, "And how many meltdowns do we see Clare have? This is now happening where I'm like, 'Oh yeah, this is a pattern.'" (Never forget Clare and that raccoon!) Hannah Brown, who joined the season in a 'Paradise Relations' role, also acknowledged Kat brought some dramatics to Costa Rica. 'Kat is a very different version of Kat from last season, but that does not mean that there will not be quite a few tears. She didn't change that much — [but] she's grown,' Hannah, 30, told Us. 'I know for Kat, she's a little apprehensive about doing this whole experience again and so I just loved talking to her to be able to, like, put herself out there. And equally with Dale. He has a very unique experience unlike anyone else in this franchise. It was shocking, but a pleasant surprise to see him hit the beach.' Clare Crawley's Dating History: A Guide to Her Bachelor Nation Romances and Beyond Hannah added, 'I'm just really rooting for both of them to have a happy new experience this time on the beach.' Bachelor in Paradise airs on ABC Mondays at 8 p.m. ET.

Justin Glaze and Lexi Young After ‘Bachelor in Paradise' Rose Ceremony
We're only two episodes deep into Bachelor in Paradise season 10, and the cast is already getting into some (on and off-camera) drama. It's exactly what we're tuned in for. Tensions were high after a rose ceremony on the July 14 episode, where Justin Glaze had to make the tough decision between his budding romance with Lexi Young and keeping his ex, Susie Evans, in Costa Rica. Justin sacrificed his connection with Lexi when he saved his rose for Susie…who ended up declining the offer. Monday night's episode then ended on a major cliffhanger as Justin walked off camera. He reflected on the difficult moment during a July 15 appearance on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, saying, 'I feel bad for how that all went down. I mean, I stand by the choice that I made. I don't have any regrets about it, but I do feel bad, and I do wish that we could have had a conversation beforehand... We weren't allowed to.' The Bachelor Nation alum, who's appeared on ABC's summer spin-off of the famous franchise twice now, admitted that he chose Susie over Lexi because he 'was trying to do something selfless for someone who is selfless.' As for why she turned down his rose, he revealed he 'had no clue' that she would make that choice. He clarified that he had no intention of rekindling his romance with Susie, but he wanted to save her so she had a chance to connect with the next batch of Bachelor Nation men who would join the cast the following week. As for where he stands with Lexi, Justin shared that he reached out to her twice after the show, but never received a response. 'I kind of wanted to just put it out there, like, 'Hey, this is what I was feeling during the show. This is also what I've heard. These are all the things that led me to the decision that I made,'' he explained. 'And just have that dialogue. But I totally understand not wanting to have that conversation, I guess. I respect that from her. But I tried.' The pair then had a public heated discussion in the comments section of his most recent Instagram Reel, where a fan wrote, 'Bro, totally fine if you still have feelings for your very sweet ex, but don't lead another very sweet girl on. Just own your feelings and tell her that her intuition was right. Why waste her time?' Justin replied with some behind-the-scenes context that wasn't televised. 'I had no intention to lead anyone on. I was very intentional with who I pursued,' he wrote. 'But unfortunately the same interest was not reciprocated for days, where I was then informed that this person didn't have interest in dating someone that didn't live where she lived, was unsure if we wanted the same things out of life, well as telling me to pursue other women as she wanted to pursue other men, prior to ending things with me.' Lexi fired back, saying that his story was 'simply not true.' She went on to add, 'As someone who claims to value communication, I suggest you reflect on how you show up in that space, because this narrative isn't it. I won't let you twist my words or rewrite my truth. We both know the reality of what happened. I genuinely hope you take the time to grow and heal so you don't repeat this kind of behavior with someone else. Wishing you clarity and accountability on that path.' Justin doubled down on his statement from the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, saying that she hasn't given him 'a chance' to talk things through off-camera. 'I absolutely value communication,' he countered. 'I've tried to reach out to you twice post show in an effort to communicate in which I've received zero response from you. Nonetheless still apologize for what transpired and wish you the best.' Lexi's response: 'I asked you directly to come to me if anything changed, and you chose not to. That lack of respect speaks volumes. I didn't reach out after the show because, frankly, there was nothing left to say. I'm moving on with my life. Wishing you clarity and healing.'

If you love 'Love Island,' watch these 5 shows next
Love may have left the island, but that doesn't mean you have to be done watching binge-worthy reality dating shows. The seventh and most exciting season yet of Peacock's "Love Island USA" wrapped up July 13 with a bombshell finale that left one couple − Amaya Espinal and Bryan Arenales − as the winners, complete with a $100,000 prize to split. There were plenty of jaw-dropping moments in the long season, which saw one cast member depart in controversy and a certain "I'm a mommy" meme dominate TikTok. It might be hard for fans to face the rest of a long hot summer without any time spent in the villa. But fear not! While "Island" is a great version of the modern bikinis-and-boxers reality-TV dating show, it is far from the only one. We rounded up five other shows that can fill the "Island"-shaped hole in your heart, and at least one even has "island" in the title. There seems to be no limit to how many ways Hollywood can stick some sexy singles on a beach and record the havoc that they wreak − and maybe even a few instances of real love, too. When does 'Love Island USA' return? What we know about Season 8 and spinoffs If you want more of exactly the same: 'Love Island UK' The sultry, twisty, addictive "Love Island USA" you know and love is based on the highly successful British version of the show, which has been bringing sexy singles to its villa for a decade. The very R-rated series has all the great parts of its American spinoff, just with stronger regional U.K. accents and perhaps even more drama (if you can imagine the possibilities). And with the many seasons and episodes available to stream, you could probably be knee-deep in bikinis and abs until Season 8 of the U.S. version. How to watch 'Love Island UK' Stream on Hulu. If you want something current: 'Bachelor in Paradise' While it might be great to binge 12 seasons of the British "Love Island," one of the biggest appeals of "Love Island USA" this summer has been the ability to watch along with friends and internet commentators as all the ridiculous antics unfolded. But there's another tropical dating show airing week-to-week right now: ABC's "Bachelor in Paradise. Not quite as dirty or as cutthroat as the gamified "Island," the "Bachelor" franchise spinoff is still plenty melodramatic and trashy (in a good and juicy way. The latest season combines alums from both the original "Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" with the more mature singles from "Golden Bachelor" and "Golden Bachelorette," for a new twist. How to watch 'Bachelor in Paradise' Mondays, 8 ET/PT on ABC. Episodes stream next day on Hulu. If you love a good twist: 'Too Hot to Handle' It's all fine and dandy to put your conventionally attractive twenty-somethings in a tropical locale and let them go crazy with hot tubs and open bars. But what if you set the scene for hot hookups but strictly forbade them? That's the concept behind Netflix's slightly ridiculous but very fun "Too Hot," which has all the singles and spray tans and none of the sex (except when the singles break the rules). To win the grand prize, 10 contestants must stay as chaste as possible in a house together for four weeks. Any time a rule is broken the $100,000 pot is reduced. It all comes down to the age-old question: What's more important, love or money? How to watch 'Too Hot to Handle' Stream on Netflix If you love a good guessing game: 'Fboy Island' This HBO Max series has the silliest name but a concept that any woman who has ever scrolled through a dating app can relate to: How do you tell the womanizers from the good guys? In the series, hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, three woman are presented with 24 men, half of whom are supposedly "nice guys" looking to settle down and the other the problematic "fboys" looking for flings without strings. They're all competing for $100,000. How to watch 'Fboy Island' Stream on HBO Max. If you want something more intense: 'Love is Blind' "Love Island" and other dating shows set in the sun and sand tend to be frilly and frivolous. But sometimes you want dating drama with bigger stakes and emotions. Enter Netflix's slightly-bonkers dating series and social experiment, in which men and women date "blind," without seeing what their prospective partner looks like. After chatting in "pods" the contestants who form connections meet face to face and decide if they're ready to walk down the aisle with someone they've known for only a few weeks. There are tears, recriminations and a surprising amount of joy in the series, which has led to more than a few successful couples. For now. How to watch 'Love is Blind' Stream on Netflix.
