Who wrote 'Brown Rang'? Badshah rekindles feud with Honey Singh using just one word
Indian rapper Badshah has reignited a long-standing feud in the country's hip-hop scene, asserting authorship over the widely celebrated 2011 hit Brown Rang , popularly credited to Yo Yo Honey Singh . The spark? A cryptic yet loaded one-word reply—"Credits"—in response to a fan post on social media. The post, which showcased Honey Singh's dramatic physical transformation, jokingly questioned what he had eaten. Badshah's sharp reply not only broke the internet but also reopened the lid on one of Indian rap's most iconic but fractured partnerships. The exchange turned increasingly pointed when another user claimed Singh had written Brown Rang. Badshah clapped back, saying, 'Tere support ke liye nahi kar raha main ye,' firmly denying that his revelations were for public sympathy or attention. Badshah has once again sparked the industry in India's hip-hop scene by claiming authorship of the 2011 hit 'Brown Rang,' a track widely associated with Yo Yo Honey Singh . The controversy resurfaced on July 22, when Badshah responded to a fan's post on social media with a pointed one-word jab: 'Credits.' At the time, Badshah had already written 'Brown Rang,' while Singh had a beat paired with lyrics that Badshah described as 'weird.' He offered to rewrite the lyrics, and the final version, according to Badshah, was entirely his creation. He also claimed to have written the rap portion of 'Angrezi Beat,' another track often credited solely to Singh. Badshah said it in various 2024 interviews. Badshah reignites feud with Honey Singh, takes a dig at him over song credits
It seemed that Yo Yo Honey Singh and Badshah had buried the hatchet and ended their feud in 2024. However, the spat seems to be back on. (Also read: Honey Singh mocks Badshah for calling his 'I'd rather make babies' comment about Dua Lipa a compliment) Badshah and Honey Singh were once part of the same band Mafia Mundeer. What Badshah said about Honey Singh An X user shared pictures of Honey to note his drastic physical transformation, captioning it, "What did he eat?" Badshah, replied with a one-word comment, 'Credits.' Badshah has publicly stated that he wrote the lyrics for the song Brown Rang, before Honey Singh released it. He also shared that he contributed to the track Angrezi Beat. About the feud For the unversed, both Badshah and Honey Singh began their careers together as members of the rap group Mafia Mundeer, which also featured Ikka, Lil Golu, and Raftaar. The band delivered many popular tracks, such as Khol Botal, Begani Naar Buri, and Delhi Ke Deewane, among others. The band last performed in 2012. Today, I just want to let everyone know I've moved on, and I wish him all the best.'

Badshah Claims He Wrote Brown Rang, Takes A Jibe At Yo Yo Honey Singh Over Credit
Badshah picks up fight with Yo Yo Honey Singh again over songwriting credits for Brown Rang. A fresh flare-up has sparked in Bollywood's rap circles as Badshah defended his claim to writing Brown Rang, taking aim at longtime rival Yo Yo Honey Singh. The exchange surfaced on X (formerly Twitter) after a user tried to credit Honey Singh for the track. When a fan cheekily wrote, 'What did he eat?" under Honey Singh's past and present pictures, Badshah shot back with a single-word retort — 'Credits." A pointed jibe alleging that Honey Singh takes credit for others' work. When another user tried to fan tensions by saying, 'Bass kar de bhai. Ek baar tujhe support kardiye to iska matlab ye nahi har baar karenge. And again, Brown Rang Honey Singh ne hi likha hai," Badshah replied with equal sarcasm: 'Chomu, tere support ke liye nahi kar raha main ye." Badshah has consistently made it clear in interviews that he wrote Brown Rang himself and wrote the rap for Angrezi Beat. 'In 2011, Honey Singh called me to mix a song. At that time I had written Brown Rang. He had the beat. But he had written something weird. I said that something strong should be written on it. Then I wrote Brown Rang," he said in 2024 interviews. The fight goes beyond social media digs. Both artists rose through the ranks together as members of Mafia Mundeer—a pioneering hip-hop collective of the early 2010s that included Raftaar, Ikka, and Lil Golu alongside Badshah and Honey Singh. Hits like Khol Botal, Begani Naar Buri, and Delhi Ke Deewane defined the group. But that alliance broke down amid credit disputes and artistic rifts, leading the rappers down solo paths. Badshah has openly accused Honey Singh of being 'self-centred", calling out practices like making collaborators sign blank contracts and failing to acknowledge their contributions. In May 2024, Badshah hinted at a possible end to the feud at GraFest in Dehradun, saying, 'There was a phase in my life where I held this grudge against one and now, I want to call it quits and leave that grudge behind — and that's Honey Singh." Badshah slams man eating non-veg at an ISKON-operated restaurant? Says, ‘Even the chicken would be embarrassed'
Recently, a video has been doing the rounds on social media, where an African-British man is seen eating chicken in a pure vegetarian restaurant operated by ISKCON. This video has led to massive outrage as it hurt the religious sentiments of people. A lot of people have strongly condemned the man's actions and called them completely insensitive. And now it appears that singer-rapper Badshah has also strongly criticised the act. Though he didn't clearly mention the incident, in his recent post on X, Badshah's words seem to be directed toward the same video. What happened at the restaurant? In the clip, which has been going viral, one can see a man entering the ISKON-operated pure veg restaurant and asking the staff if they serve meat. When he is told that the whole venue is strictly vegetarian, he pulls out a box of chicken from his bag, places it over the counter, and starts eating at the spot. He allegedly offered the chicken to the customers at the restaurant, which made a lot of people visibly uneasy. Even after being requested to leave, the man persisted with his disruptive behavior until security was summoned. Although he was eventually escorted out, he managed to create a scene before departing. Badshah's tweet slamming the incident On Sunday, July 20, Badshah took to his X and wrote, 'Even the chicken would be embarrassed. Dude wasn't hungry for chicken, he was hungry for some 🩴 on that face." 'True strength is in respecting what you don't understand," he concluded. Badshah's remarks struck a chord with numerous users who praised him for addressing the situation while emphasizing the significance of cultural respect. Although the identity of the individual in the video has not been verified, the response has been rapid and widespread. Followers of ISKCON and members of the public have voiced their discontent, with some proposing the idea of pursuing legal action.
