Buccaneers New OC Passing First Test in Unique Role
Buccaneers New OC Passing First Test in Unique Role originally appeared on Athlon Sports. For the third time in as many seasons, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a new offensive coordinator leading the way. Advertisement That isn't a bad thing. Tampa Bay has seen both Dave Canales and Liam Coen have found head coaching jobs across the league. In their absence, Josh Grizzard has been promoted to the top offensive role. Grizzard has plenty experience with the current team. He was the organization's passing game coordinator before being promoted to the top job. But ... At just 34 years old, he's one of the youngest coordinators in the game. Despite that perceived lack of experience, Grizzard has clearly gotten the offensive unit to respect him as a play-caller. In a way, he passed the first test needed to be earned for any young coach. Advertisement 'Last year, a big part of what he did was [he was] in charge of our third downs," starting tight end Cade Otton said during OTAs this week. "I just felt like every single week, we were really prepared for all the looks that we would get and just felt confident in our role and what we were going to do and obviously, it showed up in our third-down percentage and I think that's going to show up in the rest of our offense too." Tampa Bay already has one of the more lethal offenses in the league. With Baker Mayfield at quarterback, a collection of top wideouts, a star running back in Bucky Irving, and a good offensive line, the sky appears to the limit for their offense in 2025. Grizzard just can't be the one to hold everyone back. Baker Mayfield's colorful new look and the heartwarming reason behind it will melt your heart
Forget touchdowns, this week, Baker Mayfield scored with kindness. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB just gave kids battling pediatric cancer a moment of joy by letting them go wild on his hair with color spray. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Yep, we're talking full creamsicle-red-and-orange glory. But it wasn't just for fun, this sweet moment was all about raising money and awareness for pediatric cancer, and Baker absolutely delivered. Kids battling cancer got to color Baker's hair and his reaction was everything The event was part of the Bucs' 'Cut and Color for the Cure' fundraiser, an annual initiative that supports the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation. It's been running for 11 years, and this year, players, coaches, and staff offered up their hair as a canvas, all for a cause that hits way deeper than football. And of course, Baker Mayfield stepped up to the plate (or salon chair?) with total heart. Mayfield didn't just show up. He sat down, smiled, and let pediatric cancer survivors spray-paint his hair with the team's iconic red and creamsicle orange colors. The kids laughed, the cameras clicked, and Baker rocked the look like a champ. Photos from the event are going viral for all the right reasons, him grinning ear to ear, surrounded by brave little warriors with spray cans in hand. The event raised nearly $80K this year alone As of now, the 'Cut and Color Funds the Cure' initiative has raised more than $760,000 total, with $80,000 collected just this year. And honestly? Seeing NFL stars give their time and their heads to something so meaningful hits different. Mayfield's involvement helped bring extra attention to the cause, and fans online are giving him major props for being more than just a quarterback. This isn't a one-off. Baker's been known for showing up for his community. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now From youth outreach to medical causes, he's consistently used his platform for good and this just adds another page to the book. One fan posted, 'I've always liked Baker, and I've never heard a bad thing about him. He just seems like a genuinely good, down to earth guy who wants to do good in the world.' And honestly? Facts. In a league full of headlines about contracts and controversies, this one feels like a breath of fresh air. Baker Mayfield proved that being a team player doesn't stop on the field and that sometimes, the most powerful thing you can do is hand a kid a can of hair dye. Also read -

CBS Sports suggests Bucs land former starter as backup for Baker Mayfield
CBS Sports suggests Bucs land former starter as backup for Baker Mayfield Baker Mayfield is the bona fide starter for the Bucs, make no mistake about it. The veteran quarterback is coming off a career year where he set new highs in several key statistical categories, and they kept the continuity going in the quarterback room when they re-signed Kyle Trask to a one-year deal this offseason. But could they look to shake things up despite the return of the former Florida Gator and Heisman Trophy finalist? Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports wrote about some Post-June 1 trade candidates, one of which was Titans former starter Will Levis. The former Kentucky Wildcat finds himself on the outside looking in after the team drafted Cam Ward with the first overall pick in April's NFL Draft. Benjamin projects a trade to the Bucs and cites the cap savings for the Titans as the main reason. "The Tennessee Titans aren't rushing to move on from the former second-round pick, at least publicly, but ever since the club's new regime spent this year's No. 1 overall pick on Cam Ward, the writing has been on the wall. Could coach Brian Callahan retain the big-armed youngster as Ward's backup? Perhaps. But the Titans could save $1.6 million by trading Levis after June 1, whereas a trade or release prior to June 1 would've only saved the franchise about $600,000." Getting a more proven backup with starting experience isn't the worst idea for someone with Baker Mayfield's play style. Josh Grizzard has spoken about Mayfield protecting himself better in 2025, but in the event that accidents happen, since it is the NFL, having someone like Levis doesn't hurt. Not to mention, his play style also matches up well with that of the Bucs.

Bucs 'Exploding' Toward NFL Dark-Horse Success In 2025
Bucs 'Exploding' Toward NFL Dark-Horse Success In 2025 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. We are at the point in the NFL offseason where everyone thinks their team has what it takes to go all the way and hoist the Lombardi trophy, but in reality, only a select few have the credentials to do so. Advertisement And one might be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Yes, we hear you laughing, and granted, this is just a projection, but looking at Todd Bowles' roster, after a solid offseason that got Baker Mayfield another weapon in Emeka Egbuka, and Haason Reddick was signed, Tampa Bay does have a roster that is at least capable of playing at the big boy table in the NFC. And for Eric Edholm, in his top-10 most complete rosters entering the 2025 season, the Buccaneers land at No. 7. "Baker Mayfield's reemergence is a major reason for them landing in the top 10, but the overall health of the roster might be as strong as it has been since Brady led the Bucs to a Super Bowl title five years ago," Edholm writes. Advertisement "The Bucs might lack true blue-chip talent at several positions, and not everyone might be convinced that Mayfield is a true difference-maker and winner. But the pieces are there for another division-title run -- and perhaps more. If the explosive offense hits peak performance, this might be one of the higher-scoring attacks in the league." Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans (13) is congratulated by quarterback Baker Mayfield (6) after scoring a touchdown against the Chicago Bears.© Kim Klement Neitzel-Imagn Images Seen as favorites for the division title, if we are being honest, that is the minimum pass mark for Mayfield and Co. in 2025. With a defense that has added Reddick and has two new corners in draftees Benjamin Morrison (second round) and Jacob Parrish (third round), the unit looks to have gotten a little more stout. Advertisement But offensively is where it's at for Tampa Bay. A receiver room housing Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Jalen McMillan, and now Emeka Egbuka, plus tight end Cade Otten and running backs Bucky Irving, Rachaad White, and Sean Tucker, the offense under Josh Grizzard will be the straw that stirs the team's drink. If, and that's a big if, the Buccaneers can avoid the injury bug, which decimated both sides of the ball last season, they have the potential to do some nasty damage this season. And it is for that very reason that Tampa Bay might be poised for a deep playoff run, possibly more. Buccaneers' Jalen McMillan Offers 3-Word Scouting Report On Emeka Egbuka
Buccaneers' Jalen McMillan Offers 3-Word Scouting Report On Emeka Egbuka originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Jalen McMillan will have to earn his reps in 2025, as the offense boasts an embarrassment of riches at the receiver position. Advertisement Already finding it hard to get ample targets with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Cade Otton, McMillan now sees first-round pick Emeka Egbuka come to the NFC South champs. That is a lot of mouths to feed, but McMillan had quite the rookie season for himself as the franchise appears to be gearing up for a changing of the guard in a couple of seasons. Evans and Godwin are getting long in the tooth, leaving McMillan and Egbuka to take over. But what are Jalen's thoughts on his newest teammate? "He's a pro," McMillan said. "Really serious about practice and just already knows damn near half the playbook. So, I'm really excited for his growth and his future here." Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Emeka Egbuka catches a pass during the pro day for NFL scouts at the Woody Hayes Athletic CenteAdam Cairns/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images The Buccaneers' offense, led by Baker Mayfield, has the potential to be one of the top units in football, and their loaded receiver room is a significant reason why. Advertisement McMillan finished with eight touchdowns and 461 yards in his rookie season, while Evans again surpassed 1,000 yards with Godwin injured. Now we add Egbuka, a slot merchant, to complement the weapons already at Mayfield's disposal, and on paper, it is hard to envision the Buccaneers not having a successful 2025 season. The big watch will be how Baker keeps all his weapons happy, and with McMillan and Egbuka seemingly already touted as the next in line to the receiver throne, the duo could have a big say in how far the team goes in 2025.
