Man arrested for causing hurt to 12-year-old girl with hammer
The man was arrested following a report from a member of the public stating that a girl had been attacked by a 39-year-old man using a hammer at the Ungku Tun Aminah Flat area. 29 Jul 2025 11:29am Acting on the report received at 5.19pm last Saturday, police arrested the suspect at 7.25pm the same day at his residence in Johor Bahru. JOHOR BAHRU - A 39-year-old local man has been arrested for allegedly injuring a 12-year-old girl with a hammer in an incident that took place last Saturday, causing the child to suffer a head injury. North Johor Bahru police chief ACP Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh said the man was arrested following a report from a member of the public stating that a girl had been attacked by a 39-year-old man using a hammer at the Ungku Tun Aminah Flat area. He said acting on the report, received at 5.19 pm last Saturday, police arrested the suspect at 7.25 pm the same day at his residence in Johor Bahru. The police also detected a video of the incident, which was uploaded on Facebook. "The victim was then rushed to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) here and was reported to be in stable condition but suffered lacerations to her head and swelling on her right hand,' he said in a statement today. He said the suspect, with records for crime and drug-related offences, was being remanded for seven days until Aug 2 to facilitate investigation conducted under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon. - BERNAMA More Like This

Fatal e-hailing crash in Johor Bahru claims two lives
JOHOR BAHRU: An e-hailing driver and his Singaporean passenger died after their car crashed into a lorry at Kilometre 9, Jalan Johor Bahru - Air Hitam earlier today. The incident occurred at approximately 11.27 am as the Perodua Bezza, driven by a 48-year-old local man, reportedly lost control and struck the rear of a Mitsubishi Fuso lorry. North Johor Bahru district police chief ACP Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh confirmed that the car was believed to be travelling from Johor Bahru to Skudai. 'The driver sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, a 27-year-old Singaporean man, succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at Sultanah Aminah Hospital,' he said in a statement. The lorry driver, a 28-year-old local man, escaped unharmed. Authorities are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. Police urge witnesses or those with information to contact Investigating Officer Inspector Zulhisyam Aziz at 019-7432966 to assist in the investigation. - Bernama

E-hailing driver, Singaporean passenger die in Johor Baru crash
JOHOR BARU: An e-hailing driver and a Singaporean passenger died after the car they were travelling in crashed into a lorry at Km 9, Jalan Johor Baru - Air Hitam heading to Skudai, this morning. North Johor Baru district police chief Assistant Commissioner Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh said the incident occurred at about 11.27am when a car driven by a 48-year-old local man was believed to have lost control before hitting the left rear of a lorry. "The car, believed to be travelling from Johor Baru to Skudai, was carrying a 27-year-old Singaporean male passenger. "As a result of the collision, the car driver suffered serious head injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene, while his passenger died while receiving treatment at Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA), Johor Bahru," he said in a statement today. Meanwhile, he said the lorry driver, a 28-year-old local man, did not suffer any injuries. He added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. He also called on the public with information regarding the incident to contact the Investigating Officer, Inspector Zulhisyam Aziz at 019-7432966 to assist in the investigation.
