MP Priya Saroj attends Kuldeep Yadav's engagement party in a simple black gold saree, minimal makeup
Priya Saroj, Samajwadi Party MP, attended the engagement ceremony of cricketer Kuldeep Yadav and his fiancée Vanshika. Priya Saroj, one of the youngest MPs at the age of 26, is also set to marry Indian cricketer Rinku Singh. For Kuldeep's engagement party, she wore an elegant saree, staying true to timeless classic styling. The bash was held in Lucknow on June 4. Keeping the look both coordinated and grounded, the blouse was solid black with a matching gold border. The only accessory was a pearl necklace. In tune with the minimalistic yet sophisticated styling, she left her hair open in a simple side part. In the age of sequin sarees, Priya's look is a reminder that a textile-first saree, steeped in culture, whether Kanjivaram or Banarasi, still remains unmatched. While it may be tempting to look like a hotshot mirrorball by going hyper-bejewelled with sequins and mirrorwork, occasionally taking the textile-first route will lead you to discover a whole treasure trove of patterns and fabrics that India has to offer, from Gujarat's Bandhani and Bengal's Dhakai Jamdani to Mysore silk. The options are truly endless. While there's nothing wrong with sequin sarees or the gradient, monochrome styles that currently dominate the saree landscape, choosing a traditional weave has its own inherent glory as it becomes a statement accessory in itself (imagine Kanjivaram's rich, silky sheen, thick borders or the handiwork of patola saree). And who said style's ground rules, like maintaining silhouette, get compromised with traditional fabrics, pushing people into the arms of contemporary materials? A muslin Jamdani saree, for instance, has the same sheer elegance that's just as fluid or delicate as tissue or organza (if not more). For every beloved contemporary trend, there's a far better match in India's textiles. Priya's look is a perfect example of this sartorial vision in action. A style that's rooted in Indian textile, showcasing how a saree look can be both stylish and traditional. ALSO READ: Saree on a date? Celebrity draper Dolly Jain shares 5 tips to keep it stylish

Lord Ram's attire to have traditional fabrics, reflect cultural unity, heritage
In the sanctified precincts of the newly inaugurated Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, a grand cultural and spiritual initiative is taking shape, one that goes beyond the sacred rituals to celebrate the diverse and vibrant textile traditions of India. Just as the child form of Lord Ram (Balak Ram) is adorned with love and simplicity, the attire of Lord Ram in the Ram Darbar will now be a rich display of India's traditional fabrics, creating a tableau of cultural is not merely about changing robes for the deity, the initiative will be a carefully envisioned tribute to India's centuries-old craft heritage. The daily adornment of the deities in the Ram Darbar will now become an immersive journey into India's sartorial past, present, and the Balak Ram idol depicts the gentle innocence of Lord Ram's childhood, the Ram Darbar will portray him in his majestic, royal form—as Maryada Purushottam and the King of Ayodhya. This royal depiction will be complete with symbolic elements such as intricately designed crowns, bejeweled belts, embroidered robes, and fabrics embedded with zari, precious stones, and motifs of divine valor. Renowned costume designer Manish Tiwari, who has been given the task of designing the deity's attire, is also leading the aesthetic vision of Ram Darbar's overall presentation. According to him, the attires will not only capture the grandeur and divinity of Lord Ram's court but will also reflect the soul of India's regional aim is to make devotees feel like they are witnessing the rich cultural landscape of India through the very garments worn by the gods,' says spoke to India Today regarding the details of the dresses. He says, 'One of the key features of this initiative is the inclusion of traditional textiles from different Indian states in the deity's attire. Each day, the fabrics used will blend motifs and techniques from at least two or more regions.' This way, Lord Ram's robe may carry the richness of Banarasi silk and the intricate patterns of Rajasthan's Bandhani on one day, and the regal Kanchipuram silk from Tamil Nadu with Odisha's Sambalpuri weaves on another. This initiative transforms every act of dressing the deity into a statement of India's cultural inclusiveness and a revival of its glorious textile Hindu temple tradition, changing the deity's attire daily is a long-standing practice. The Ram Mandir will take this one step further by aligning each day's attire with a specific color and textile tradition rooted in Indian astrology and spiritual symbolism. These color schemes are not randomly chosen—they are imbued with centuries of cultural significance, often associated with planetary influences and divine attributes. Each day, the Ram Darbar will offer devotees a fresh visual and spiritual experience, tied intrinsically to Indian sensitivity is another key highlight of the Ram Darbar attire design. The fabrics will change not only in color and region but also in texture and material to suit the weather, much like the human wardrobe. Manish says, 'Soft and breathable materials like khadi, mulmul (muslin), and handloom cottons will keep the attire light and comforting during summers. However, heavier, luxurious materials like silk, brocade, pashmina, and wool will dominate the wardrobe during winter.' This approach offers a harmonious blend of devotion, practicality, and artistic discipline. It ensures that the gods are adorned not just with reverence but with an understanding of natural cycles and human Watch

The Cannes Film Festival is not only a premier celebration of global cinema but also a major stage for show-stopping fashion. This year was no different, with the red carpet transforming into a runway for actors and influencers to debut their boldest looks. On Tuesday, emerging actor and model Ruchi Gujjar made her Cannes debut in a striking ensemble. But what truly grabbed attention was her choice of jewellery: pendants featuring the face of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which she wore to the Chopard Caroline Universe Dinner. Gujjar paired the pendants with a dramatic gold lehenga that showcased Indian craftsmanship. 'The necklace is more than just jewellery, it's a symbol of strength, vision, and India's rise on the world stage. By wearing it at Cannes, I wanted to honour our Prime Minister, whose leadership has taken India to new heights,' she said, as reported by The Financial Express. She completed the look with a handcrafted Bandhani dupatta from the atelier of Zaribari, created by designer Ram and enhanced with delicate Zardozi detailing. 'Wearing this dupatta felt like I was draping the soul of Rajasthan,' she said. While her appearance at Cannes put her in the global spotlight, Gujjar's journey to stardom began in 2023. A graduate of Maharani College in Jaipur, she relocated to Mumbai to pursue her dream of working in the film industry. The former Miss Haryana 2023 has since made a name for herself in the world of music videos, with popular tracks like Jab Tu Meri Na Rahi and Heli Mein Chor. Coming from a traditional Gujjar family in Rajasthan, Ruchi had to challenge long-standing societal norms to carve a path in the entertainment industry. 'Since I belong to a Gujjar family, there, women are not allowed to work as I am working,' she said in an interview with BollywoodMDB. 'It was difficult to change how people think about women working in Bollywood. I want to be an inspiration in our community, who fought against the will of people's thoughts. And I am the only one from my community who has come so far in the Bollywood industry,' she said. Her journey was made possible in part by the support of her family, especially her father. 'My mother was very scared when I said I wanted to go to Mumbai to work in Bollywood; however, she's quite proud of me that I've come so far. My father has always been very supportive since day one, now my entire family is supporting me,' she said. With her stardom rising and a handful of successful projects under her kitty, Gujjar has her sights set on bigger dreams. 'I would love to work in South (Indian) movies since audiences love them,' she said.
