Miley Cyrus' medical condition that affects her voice and prevents touring

The Flowers singer has Reinke's edema, which results in a swelling of the vocal cords due to a build up of fluid. Miley Cyrus has revealed she has a medical condition, which causes her voice to give off a raspy tone and says it prevents her from touring as much as she would like. The Flowers singer has Reinke's edema, which results in a swelling of the vocal cords due to a build up of fluid. 'It's a part of my unique anatomy,' Cyrus, 32, said, adding that she has a 'very large polyp,' which is an abnormal tissue growth, on her vocal chord. ‌ 'It's given me a lot of the tone and texture that has made me who I am, but it's extremely difficult to perform with because it's like running a marathon with ankle weights on,' Cyrus continued ‌ The Party in the U.S.A. singer recognised that staying up late, drinking, smoking and partying after every show back when she was 21 did not 'help' her issues, but she clarified it did not 'cause it.' 'My voice always sounded like this,' Cyrus said, revealing that that sometimes when she is overtired, her mom points out to her that she sounds like she is 'talking through a radio.' 'It creates that, like, ultimate vocal fry, and so I do have this blessing of a condition that I live with,' she said, seemingly finding a silver lining. 'My voice is super unique because of it.' Cyrus said that she is not willing to take surgical measures to 'sever' the polyp on her vocal chord because she does not want to risk the chance of not sounding like herself. In the meantime, the Grammy winner, who is also known for her 2013 Bangers hit Wrecking Ball, said she is taking other avenues to avoid straining her vocal chords, like not putting on shows as often as perhaps her fans would like. ‌ Cyrus added that in order for a global tour to happen, it would have to be done 'in a way that is sustainable' for her because she doesn't lip-sync, adding that live performance are 'taxing.' If she doesn't do a certain amount of concerts, then it won't 'mathematically make sense' to do the tour because she'll be unable to pay the costs required for the crew and other expenses, she claimed. The candid admission about her voice comes as has opened up about other recent health battles. ‌ She also admitted she had a 'pretty traumatic experience' when performing on New Year's Eve because she had an ovarian cyst rupture. Cyrus then shared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that her 'leg began to disintegrate around the kneecap area' after she rolled around on the floor of the Hollywood Walk of Fame for one of her latest music videos. She said, 'By November at Thanksgiving, I was put in the ICU for a moment — just for a moment.'

McPherson residents will soon hear loud ‘booms'

MCPHERSON, Kan. (KSNW) — McPherson residents may soon start hearing loud booms around sunset each night. McPherson Police say you don't need to worry or call 911, the booms are to deal with what has become a nuisance for one neighborhood: turkey vultures. The birds native to North America feast on dead animals and are often seen circling high in the Kansas skies, riding thermals while searching for their next meal. However, they are becoming a problem for people who live in the 1000 block of North Walnut in McPherson. Man charged with stealing from Kansas Catholic school Kansas State University is helping McPherson deal with the problem by providing residents with 'Bird Bangers.' The Bird Banger is an orange-colored pistol that fires a pyrotechnic into the air, emitting a loud bang that scares away birds. As the sun sets, the turkey vultures have been roosting in the trees and other elevated spots along north Walnut in McPherson. The goal is to encourage them to relocate away from the city. Starting Friday, residents may hear two to three loud bangs as the sun begins to set in the evening. The bangs will likely continue for 10-14 days. Residents who have been assigned a Bird Banger are required to call McPherson County dispatch before they fire it and are asked to notify their neighbors before they discharge it.
