EastEnders' Zack Hudson's future 'sealed' as fans 'work out' what's next

BBC's EastEnders fans learned the fate of Walford resident Zack Hudson during tonight's episode of the soap after fearing he was dead following the dramatic car crash Zack Hudson made a shock appearance in tonight's EastEnders after residents, and fans, feared he was dead following Tuesday night's dramatic car crash. Despite Barney now knowing Zack's his dad - it doesn't seem like the character will get his happy ending with his son. Fans have now been left wondering whether Zack and Barney storyline really has come to an abrupt end - and if so, what's next for Zack? Some fans have uncovered a 'forgotten storyline' where Zack was diagnosed with HIV, which they believe is set to resurface. ‌ It's been a dramatic week for Zack, to say the least. Last night, Vicki Fowler dropped the bombshell that Zack was Barney's real dad, and claimed Teddy tried to have him killed after their car veered off into the lake. However, the crash was accidental, with Teddy only planning to have a chat with Zack after Harry had knocked him unconscious and stuffed him into his boot. ‌ As he regained consciousness, a frightened Zack tried to take over the wheel, causing the car to lose control and plunge into the lake. Last night, Teddy emerged from the water but Zack was no where to be seen with Vicky Fowler bursting into Teddy's home to tell Barney that Zack was his real dad, and that he was dead. Although he was feared dead, in tonight's episode, the character was seen walking through the door while Barney was chatting to Phil and Vicki. Things didn't stay calm for long after an altercation broke out between Teddy and Zack as they appeared to fight over Barney. In the end though, it seemed Barney chose Teddy as the Mitchells promised to be a family again - even sharing a laugh as the four played a board game. ‌ Fans were left baffled as the scene came after Barney and Harry found out that Nicola killed Shireen after she threatened to expose the secret about Barney's paternity. Although it (strangely) looked like happy families for the Mitchells, it was a different story for Zack, who was left feeling rejected. Now fans are predicting the future for the character after his hopes with Barney have been dashed down the drain - for now. In 2023, Zack was diagnosed with HIV after being informed by a former friend, Brett, that he shared needles when they were younger - and fans think the 'forgotten' story may be picked back up. ‌ Taking to Reddit, one fan said: "He had past drug addition, they could always re-look there," as another responded: "They could continue with the HIV storyline and have issues with medication, or complications despite being undetectable. I thought the HIV storyline was a great idea, but they went no where with it." Earlier this year, fans thought a romance may be on the cards for Chelsea and Zack following a cryptic exchange - with many thinking the soap will now explore this storyline for the character. Will Barney and Zack ever have a father-son relationship, or has it really ended before it had a change to begin?

Is Zack Hudson leaving EastEnders and is he really dead after watery car plunge?

Zack Hudson's (James Farrar) fate was left hanging in the balance in EastEnders after the car he was in plummeted off a bridge and into the river. The popular character, a brother of show legend Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), was determined to exit Walford after Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) threatened his loved ones. The chef recently discovered that Nicola's youngest Barney (Lewis Bridgeman) is his biological son after he and the Mitchell matriarch had an affair 16 years ago. Knowing that the Mitchells – in particularly Nicola – are dangerous, Zack resolved to get Barney out of dodge, hoping his son's brother Harry (Elijah Holloway) would come through and help him. Upon learning of Nicola's true nature, Harry seemed like he wanted to help Zack but, not wanting to lose his little brother, the mechanic attacked Zack and bundled him into the boot of a car. Teddy (Roland Manookian) intervened, giving chase and – upon catching up with him -talked sense into Harry, who relented and allowed Zack out of the boot. Zack was subsequently declared dead by all those present on the night of the accident, but – as we soap fans know too well – no body can often equate to no death. So is Zack really dead? Be warned EastEnders fans, spoilers follow for Thursday's (May 29) episode, which is now available to stream on iPlayer. No, Zack is not dead. In fact, he's very much alive! To our knowledge, he's not leaving the show – especially in the wake of Thursday's episode. As Barney processed the revelation that Zack is his father, he shared a heart-to-heart with Teddy, who assured him that he will always be his dad – blood relative or not. Barney subsequent sought support from Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) and Linda Carter (Kellie Bright). As they discussed the events of the day in question, a drenched Zack entered the property! More Trending Everyone was left in shock, believing Zack to have perished in the watery car plunge, but the chef is alive and well. He urged Barney to reconsider having Nicola in his life and instead come away with him but confused Barney instead raced into the Square, where Nicola asked him what he wants. Barney told her that he wants everything to go back to the way it was as he, Nicola, Teddy and Harry returned home to No. 1 to play a board game, much to the chagrin of Zack. EastEnders return 'from the dead' in early release as week reaches explosive end

This article contains spoilers for tonight's episode of EastEnders, which airs on BBC One at 7.30pm or can be streamed on iPlayer now. Secrets have been unearthed, truths have been told and one local arrived home from 'beyond the grave' in the conclusion of another dramatic week in Albert Square. The Mitchells were reeling from Vicki Fowler's (Alice Haig) bombshell, as a stunned Barney (Lewis Bridgeman) took in the fact Teddy (Roland Manookian) isn't his father. Ordering everyone out of the house, Barns' demanded some alone time with the man who raised him and had some serious questions about his upbringing. The two had a heart to heart, breaking down in one another's arms. When Teddy explained that he had no intentions of telling him the truth about his paternity, and hoped to continue living a normal life, Barney was deeply hurt. He told his 'dad' that he was sick of so many secrets being brushed under the carpet at No. 1, and wanted full transparency on what had blown them all apart in recent weeks. Teddy opened up about Shireen Bashar's death and Nicola's (Laura Doddington) involvement, and Barney was disgusted. He began to ponder whether Teddy had ever doubted whether he was really his child, given so many differences between them. Full of emotional, Teddy admitted that he had no idea, and has also suffered a huge loss. Barney needed some time to think, and rushed out. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Elsewhere, the aforementioned zombie emerged into Walford. It is, of course, Zack Hudson (James Farrar), who revealed to his nearest and dearest that he didn't drown in the epic lake stunt after all. What he didn't realise was that Barney was right in front of him, and he struggled to find the words to speak to his son. After keeping it secret for so long, he hadn't actually considered how he would broach the subject. As the atmosphere defrosted, and Zack dried off from his icy plunge, he detailed how he discovered the jaw-dropping revelation. Zack also told Barney about Nicola's attempts to silence him, branding her 'evil' and a 'psychopath'. Explaining that he didn't think he was safe with the Mitchells, he divulged his plan for them to flee to Inverness and hoped Barns' would be on board. Spooked by the prospect of a man he barely knows whisking him off to the other side of the country, he darted out onto Bridge Street and was caught between two families. Nicola, Teddy and Harry (Elijah Holloway) were stood on one side, with Zack and Vicki on the other. Both fathers pleaded their case, trying to bargain for Barney's attention. More Trending As a physical fight began to emerge, Nicola ordered the men to stop and told them to consider what the teen wanted. It was his choice. But who will he pick? Birth father Zack, or the man who raised him, Teddy? Metro has decided to keep this spoiler a secret, and you can find out yourself by tuning into the episode. Raymond van Barneveld slams 'madness' darts schedule as Dutch legend admits he can't keep pace

The legend says he's ready to tone down his schedule as it's getting too much Tired Raymond van Barneveld says he simply now can't keep up with the madness of the darts schedule. The Dutch legend has returned from one retirement to get back onto the PDC scene and is still winning games at the age of 58. But multiple World Champion Barney accepts the sands of time are running as low as the energy levels as he considers taking a fresh step back from the gruelling programme. ‌ He said: 'Starting next year, I really need to slow things down. It's all becoming a bit too much. Maybe cut back on the Pro Tours I'll keep playing the Euro Tours as long as I'm in the top 16. But let's be honest, the schedule is madness. ‌ "It barely leaves any time to rest. I've been doing this for 40 years now and I still love it. When you're up there warming up and hear the crowd, it gives you an incredible feeling of pride. "But, while the mind is still willing, the body doesn't always follow. That's the tough part.' Competition becomes fiercer each week with the likes of Luke Littler and Luke Humphries lifting the standards and he continued: 'I do struggle with that. It takes a lot of mental energy. I'm not sure how much longer I can keep going. "At some point, you have to be honest with yourself. I have amazing sponsors, great people supporting me, but I'm also 58. I still love it and I hope I can keep going for as long as possible. "But, like I said, the mind still wants it, the body not always.' ‌ You can get all the news you need on our dedicated Rangers and Celtic pages, and sign up to our newsletters to make sure you never miss a beat throughout the season.
