What is Viktor Gyokeres' goal celebration all about?
Viktor Gyokeres will be bringing his unique goal celebration to the Premier League next season…if Arsenal can finally get the deal done. The Gunners have been pursuing the Sporting striker this summer and a move is edging ever closer, with a confirmation expected very soon. On Tuesday the Athletic reported that a deal was imminent after lengthy discussions over the structure of the transfer payments. A deal worth €63.5million (£54.8m), plus €10m (£8.6m) in add-ons, had been agreed earlier this month, but there were further negotiations over how the add-ons would be paid. Those talks appear to have reached a conclusion and Gyokeres is on his way to join Arsenal, although fans will not rest entirely easily until the Swede is unveiled by the club. The 27-year-old has earned his move to the Emirates thanks to his incredible goal-scoring form for Sporting over the last two seasons. Since moving to Lisbon from Coventry in 2023 he has scored 97 goals in 102 games and fans have become very used to seeing his iconic goal celebration, but what does it mean? Gyokeres posted a compilation of goals and celebrations on Instagram last year, which had the caption: 'Nobody cared until I put on the mask 🎭' The line is a slight misquote from the Batman film The Dark Knight Rises, when the villain Bane says: 'It doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our plan. No one cared who I was till I put on the mask.' It's unlikely that Gyokeres is paying a tribute to Bane because he intends to blow up a city with a massive bomb, but you simply never know. What does seem clear is that the striker is a fan of the character portrayed by Tom Hardy in the 2012 blockbuster. Gyokeres has been pulling out the Bane celebration for some time, with Coventry fans treated to the move during his time with the Sky Blues. The Sweden international's last season with Coventry saw him score 21 goals in the Championship, which earned himself a move to Sporting. His soon-to-be teammates at Arsenal are obviously well aware of how Gyokeres celebrates goals, with Myles Lewis-Skelly copying the move when the latest reports of the transfer broke. The Gunners youngster reacted to the news that a Gyokeres deal was imminent by putting both hands over his mouth in honour of the incoming forward. Former Arsenal star Anders Limpar, who was something of a mentor to his fellow Swede in Gyokeres' early years, reckons we will see plenty of the Bane celebration this season. More Trending 'He's such a prospect when it comes to looking after himself, no scandals, he is a hell of a player,' Limpar told fotbolldirekt. 'He's a No. 9, and can sniff a goal chance. He's going to be the perfect icing on the cake at Arsenal. 'And I don't have to look down on [Kai] Havertz, or [Gabriel] Jesus, but bringing in Viktor at this moment, at his best age and form. 'He's a goalscoring machine and with all the supply from the wings and from Odegaard, he's going to score 25 goals.' Naomi Ackie Reportedly Top Choice for Female Lead in DC Studios Feature CLAYFACE — GeekTyrant
It's being reported that actress Naomi Ackie ( Sorry, Baby , Mickey 17 ) is the top choice for the female lead in DC Studios' Clayface movie about the Batman antagonist. A deal hasn't been signed yet, but if Ackie accepts the part, she will star opposite Welsh actor Tom Rhys Harries in the James Watkins-directed supervillain flick. News about Clayface hits at an exciting time for DC, as their first movie under studio bosses Peter Safran and James Gunn, Superman, is coursing to $409M worldwide, another comeback for superhero movies, and they're heading into San Diego Comic-Con this week to roll out the second season of HBO's Peacemaker . Clayface is shape-shifting villain in the Batman comics and got his introduction as part of Detective Comics #40 in June 1940. The original Clayface was a moderately successful actor who adopted the identity of a character he'd portrayed in a horror pic after turning to crime. Clayface has a body seemingly made out of clay and has appeared over the years in various films, series, animated works, video games and other forms of media. Producing Clayface are Gunn and Safran as well as The Batman filmmaker Matt Reeves and Lynn Harris. Chantal Nong is executive producer. The Life of Chuck filmmaker Mike Flanagan wrote the first draft of Clayface , with additional drafts by Oscar-nominated The Wings of a Dove and Drive scribe Hossein Amini. Clayface will be shooting at Warner Bros Leavesden studio in the UK, and is expected to be released in theaters on September 11, 2026. via: Deadline

Naomi Ackie 'in early talks for Clayface role'
Naomi Ackie is reportedly in early talks for Clayface. The 32-year-old actress - who has appeared in the likes of Mickey 17 and Blink Twice - is said to be in initial discussions to join Tom Rhys Harries in Mike Flanagan's take on the Batman villain. According to The Hollywood Reporter, several sources have revealed that formal negotiations are set to get underway this week. Ackie is said to have joined in reading sessions in the UK last week, and emerged as a favourite for DCU bosses. Speak No Evil director James Watkins will be at the helm, with Rhys Harries playing the titular role from a script written by The Haunting of Hill House director Flanagan. The body horror thriller is focused on the supervillain and his appearance-altering powers, with comparisons to the feel and structure od 1986 classic The Fly. That film followed a relationship between a scientist (Jeff Goldblum) fused with the DNA of a fly, and the journalist (Geena Davis) writing about the discovery. For Clayface, an B-movie actor's life is changed for ever when his face gets disfigured by a gangster. He desperately seeks out a scientist for help, and while the experiment is initially a success, things take a sinister turn. The film is slated to shoot at Warner Bros. Leavesden studio in the UK later this year as it marches towards its September 2026 release date. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Clayface will be a 'stripped down movie', with a budget of approximately $40 million. DC Studios boss and Superman director James Gunn recently opened up on his vision for the wider cinematic universe, and insisted there can't be a set style or genre across each film. He told CBS Mornings: "We've got Clayface, which is a totally different thing. Although it's in the same universe, it's a complete horror film. "That's one of the things we want to do. There's not a company style. It's not like every movie is going to be like Superman. "The artists — the directors and the writers — each one will bring their own sense to it… "That's what we want to bring to the films because we don't want people to get bored. We want to invigorate people." Meanwhile, fans are eagerly awaiting The Batman Part II from filmmaker Matt Reeves, who recently completed the script for the highly anticipated follow-up. When asked at the Superman world premiere in Los Angeles earlier this month if he has read the script, he simply told ScreenRant: "It's great!" Gunn then made a swift exit from the chat, but was smiling as he walked further down the carpet.

James Gunn Says THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Isn't DCU's Priority Yet, Keeps Batman Casting Under Wraps — GeekTyrant
James Gunn is in no rush to reveal who will wear the cape and cowl in The Brave and the Bold . While fans are eager to meet the DCU's new Batman, Gunn made it clear that the project is still in early development. Gunn was asked about casting on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, and he responded: 'There's people out there I think about, but let's see where the script comes in. It's not the furthest along thing. I mean, we have things that are much, much further along.' This means fans shouldn't expect news anytime soon. Gunn also confirmed that Matt Reeves' The Batman Part II and The Brave and the Bold likely won't share a release year. He avoided confirming whether this film will serve as the official debut of the DCU's Dark Knight but did tease its significance, noting it will introduce Damian Wayne as Robin, marking the first live-action appearance of Bruce Wayne's son. For those keeping track, Gunn and Safran's DCU rollout is pacing differently than Marvel. After Superman , the only other major DC release this year is Peacemaker Season 2, which arrives on HBO Max August 21. Supergirl follows on June 26, 2026, and Clayface lands on September 11, 2026. That's two DC films in 2025 compared to Marvel's three movies and three series before mid-year. As for Batman , patience will be key. The Batman Part II is set to start filming in 2026 with an October 2027 release date, making it almost certain that Reeves' sequel will arrive before Gunn's take on the Dark Knight. For now, The Brave and the Bold has no set release date, so it may be a while before we see the Bat-family enter the new DCU. Would you rather see Gunn introduce Batman sooner in a cameo or wait for a full introduction in The Brave and the Bold ?
