Bears sign DB Tre Flowers, DL Tanoh Kpassagnon
The Bears added a couple of players as they opened training camp on Tuesday. They announced the signings of defensive back Tre Flowers and defensive lineman Tanoh Kpassagnon to the 90-man roster. They made space for the two new arrivals by waiving defensive back Alex Cook and defensive lineman Jereme Robinson. Advertisement Flowers had four tackles in five games for the Colts and Jaguars last season. He's appeared in 90 other games for the Seahawks, Bengals, and Falcons. Kpassagnon spent the last four seasons with the Saints and had 66 tackles, 9.5 sacks, and a forced fumble in 43 games for the team. The 2017 second-round pick opened his career with three seasons in Kansas City. The Bears activated wide receiver Jahdae Walker and running back Ian Wheeler from the non-football injury list to round out the day's moves.

New-look Bears open 2025 training camp hoping to end years of rebuilds
The Bears begin training camp at Halas Hall on Wednesday with a new coach, a new offensive line and a new sense of urgency to bring winning football to Chicago. Why it matters: The Bears have the talent to turn around a dismal decade that has been marred with rebuilds and yearly retooling. Flashback: Bears fans have heard this before. Last year, the team pushed the narrative that quarterback Caleb Williams would forgo usual rookie growing pains because the team was emerging from a two-year rebuild. Reality check: They were wrong. The team struggled with Williams under center and sputtered to a 5-12 record, leading to the in-season firing of head coach Matt Eberflus. Eberflus' on-the-field gaffes, like giving up a Hail Mary touchdown to the Commanders and mismanaging the clock in a last-second loss to the Lions on Thanksgiving, were national embarrassments. State of play: Whiz-kid and former Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson has taken over this team, which once again, has the goods … on paper. Johnson and general manager Ryan Poles made the offensive line the offseason priority, bringing in proven veterans to anchor protection for Williams. They used their top draft picks to select tight end Colston Loveland and wide receiver Luther Burden to give Williams more weapons. Between the lines: The Bears brass are hoping Johnson and Williams click, and Johnson is known for high-octane offense and clicking with his quarterbacks, so the chances are good that it will happen here. Then again, Johnson has never been a head coach before. The Bears last two head coaches without experience were Eberflus and Matt Nagy. The other side (of the ball): The defense should be improved as well. The team brought in reinforcements to help Montez Sweat on the defensive line, but it's more about keeping their young players on the field in 2025. Safety Jaquan Brisker should be back after missing most of last season with a concussion. The latest: The Bears' only Pro-Bowler, Jaylon Johnson, has been put on the injury list and will miss the beginning of training camp. The bottom line: The hype is real and the Bears are hoping to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1985 Super Bowl team with a repeat performance.

Bears DBs are gunning for a rare accomplishment that has eluded every player to play for a Dennis Allen-led defense
Bears DBs are gunning for a rare accomplishment that has eluded every player to play for a Dennis Allen-led defense originally appeared on A to Z Sports. The Chicago Bears will kick off training camp in one day and expectations continue to rise for what this team could possibly look to achieve in 2025. Head coach Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Dennis Allen have inspired some much needed confidence back into this locker room that has multiple players looking to chase some major milestones this season. For example, Johnson has already noted quarterback Caleb Williams has the ability in 2025 to become the first Bears QB to eclipse 4,000 passing yards in a season. Advertisement On the defensive side of the ball, a few of Allen's standout players in the secondary are gunning for a milestone no other player has ever achieved in his system. While speaking with Cassie Carlson, Bears safety Jaquan Brisker laid out some of his stat goals for the 2025 season, and one lined up with what two other defensive backs noted. "Jaylon [Johnson] said he wants seven interceptions and 10 total turnovers. Tyrique [Stevenson] said he thought he could get seven because he has seven tattooed on his wrist," Carlson explained in her question. "I want to say 8+ interceptions, 10+ PBUs, 4+ sacks, and over 100 tackles," Brisker responded. Advertisement View the original article to see embedded media. Brisker obviously took the lofty goals to a much higher level but it's interesting all three defensive backs mentioned the same number of interceptions they're gunning to surpass. Seven interceptions alone would be a career-high for each player, in fact Johnson and Stevenson each set a career-high in interceptions with four in 2023. Meanwhile, Brisker has three in his entire career. But, they will be playing in a much more aggressive scheme in 2025 under Allen with more opportunities to take the ball away. Because of that, I decided to take a step back and see if any player playing for Allen's scheme had ever reached that mark before, and here's what I found out. Advertisement Most Single-Season INTs Under Dennis Allen Marshon Lattimore: 5 INTs in 2017 Tyrann Mathieu: 4 INTs in 2023 Paulson Adebo: 4 INTs in 2023 Marcus Williams: 4 INTs in 2019 Marcus Williams: 4 INTs in 2017 Charles Woodson: 4 INTs in 2014 Clearly getting to seven is going to be a rare accomplishment that no player has ever done in Allen's system. Marshon Lattimore is the closest to come to it during his rookie season with five interceptions to help win Defensive Rookie of the Year. I will also note that in 2021, Allen's defense had four defensive backs record three interceptions (Adebo, Lattimore, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and P.J. Williams). It's always good to have high goals, especially similar goals within the locker room to push each other to be great on the field. But, this one seems pretty unlikely for the Bears defensive backs. Although, you can never say never. Advertisement View the original article to see embedded media. Bears sign veterans CB Tre Flowers, DE Tanoh Kpassagnon
The Chicago Bears announced the signings of cornerback Tre Flowers and defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon before the team kicks off training camp on Wednesday. In corresponding roster moves, the Bears waived defensive back Alex Cook and defensive lineman Jereme Robinson. Chicago also activated running back Ian Wheeler and rookie wide receiver Jahdae Walker off the Non-Football Injury list. Unfortunately, cornerback Jaylon Johnson remains on the NFI list after suffering a leg injury while training this summer. He's expected to miss a few weeks. Flowers is a well-traveled cornerback who has previously spent time with the Seattle Seahawks, Cincinnati Bengals, Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Indianapolis Colts. Adding Flowers to the secondary brings more depth and experience, especially with Johnson being sidelined for a few weeks. Kpassagnon reunites with his former coach and coordinator Dennis Allen, as the two previously worked together in New Orleans. Although Kpassagnon has not made much of an impact throughout his NFL career, his work with Allen will be valuable, especially in training camp as the team works to get familiar with their new defensive coordinator. More bodies on the defensive line is never a bad thing, but if he doesn't find a role on the field, Kpassagnon could be a voice in the locker room. Bears wide receiver hosts youth camp in Champaign
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) – Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze was host to a youth football camp in Champaign on Saturday. The camp, put on in partnership with Flex Work Sports, welcomed more than 400 kids to St. Thomas More High School. Advertisement There was also a surprise guest appearance from another Bears player: Wide receiver DJ Moore. Moore, who led the Bears in receiving yards on the 2024 season, showed up unannounced. 'He did not have to do that,' Odunze said. 'I didn't tell him I was doing a camp out here. I didn't tell anybody to come out just because it was a little bit of a ways from where everybody is at. That's my guy, that's my brother. He came out here with his family so it's always good to see them, they're doing well. So it means a lot to me that DJ would come out here but that's the Bears organization and all the guys there are very heartfelt and meaningful in that way. So, DJ's my guy, appreciate him.' 'I love Rome,' Moore told WCIA. 'Rome came to my camps so had to show the same respect and make my way out here with my family.' Advertisement It's one of a handful of camps Odunze is hosting over the 2025 offseason. He'll be in Rockford, Ill. for another one on Sunday, July 13. 'I have a lot of fun, of course, just giving back to them,' he said. 'Them having an opportunity to come out here and work hard, meet somebody in the NFL – That's what it's about. So, hopefully it provides them some sort of inspiration because I know they inspire me with all their energy and all their excitement.' As for the 2025 season, which will be Odunze's second in the NFL and the Bears' first under new head coach, he says the excitement is visible. 'Everybody is fired up, as they should be,' he said. 'We're building excitement and anticipation for the season and it's deservingly so. Exciting times, lots of changes… I think we have the right pieces to put it all together…' Advertisement The camp consisted of various drills, 7-on-7 games with Odunze at quarterback and photos/autographs. Mason Davis attended the camp from Monticello and left with a lasting memory. 'I caught a touchdown pass from Rome,' Davis said. 'He's a lot taller than I expected, but he was amazing today.'
