Shannakian Fine Jewellery slapped with warning for undelivered jewels

Don't miss out on the headlines from Victoria. Followed categories will be added to My News. A jeweller to stars including Bec Judd and Brit Selwood is in hot water after being hit with a warning from Victoria's consumer watchdog. Shannakian Fine Jewellery sells bracelets, necklaces, rings and earrings including a $13,400 'Diamond Eternity Ring' through its website, Instagram account and Melbourne showroom. Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) has revealed that the jeweller was subject to 67 complaints from hopeful buyers alleging the business has accepted payment but not delivered and failed to provide refunds. The watchdog warned consumers to be careful and be wary before purchasing Shannakian Fine Jewellery products. The Shannakian brand is popular among Australian stars and influencers, having been worn by Bec Judd, Sonia Kruger, Roxy Jacenko and more in posts on the jeweller's social media. The Melbourne-based business has reached as far as Los Angeles, with Khloe Kardashian and Kris Jenner both being seen wearing Shannakian necklaces in a 2019 episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians. Once customer who complained to CAV said they had paid the jeweller $27,000 for a necklace which they never received. The buyer followed up many times before asking for a refund, which CAV said was never honoured. Complaints against the retailer have been flowing since 15 February 2021, with customers saying they had requested refunds that were not provided, including for faulty products. Most of the complaints were for sales on the jeweller's Instagram page, which has 25,000 followers. A Facebook post from CAV was flooded with comments from more customers, alleging they were also still waiting for jewellery they had ordered. 'So glad to see this!! I had huge issues with them several years ago,' one commenter wrote. 'About time it has been made more public!!' The jeweller was first opened in 2007 by Hovig Shannakian. The company's website detailed his 'unrelenting quest for perfection' that has seen the jewellery become a 'go to for discerning jewellery lovers and celebrities'. Brit Selwood was pictured earlier this year at the Australian Grand Prix with Shannakian jewellery. Other celebrities and influencers who have worn the products from the label include former Miss Universe Australia Maria Thattil and The Bachelor star Snezana Wood. In a post on the jeweller's Instagram page Candice Warner is pictured with husband David Warner with a description that described her as wearing 'her favourite paperclip necklace'. Any people who have had a bad experience with Shannakian Fine Jewellery have been encouraged to contact CAV.

Residents in Bec Judd's ritzy Bayside neighbourhood utterly terrified after masked thugs with machetes stormed couple's home

A frightened young family was forced to hide in a bedroom as two masked teens wielding a machete ransacked their home in the bayside neighbourhood of WAG turned anti-crime crusader Bec Judd. Tradie Rory O'Sullivan, 39, was woken by the intruders trying to break into his Elsternwick home in Melbourne's south-east shortly before 3.30am on May 21. 'I saw through the camera they had a machete,' he told Seven News. 'I ran upstairs, grabbed the girls, and came straight back to my bedroom, where Ana (his wife) was.' Terrifying CCTV captured the masked teens attempting to break down the front door. One appeared to take a run up before kicking violently and repeatedly. The other teen, who appeared to be holding a small knife and a machete, also tried to kick the door down. Fearing for their lives, the terrified family called the police after the teens finally broke into the home. CCTV footage from May 21 shows the moment two masked teenagers carrying a machete attempted to break into the home of the O'Sullivan family in Melbourne's bayside area The alleged home invasion took place close to the home of AFL WAG Bec Judd (pictured) who has regularly slammed the rise in crime across Victoria 'I shouted at them: 'Get out of the house. Get out of the house',' Mr O'Sullivan said. '(I was) really pushing (the bedroom door), because you could feel them really kicking.' The teens ransacked the home and stole a Toyota Land Cruiser, handbag and credit cards. His wife, Ana confronted one of the teens who can can be heard yelling: 'Give me the keys now or your girlfriend is getting chopped up.' 'I was shouting and screaming and calling for help,' she said. 'At one point he was running towards me.' It's unknown whether the teens have been charged. Daily Mail Australia has contacted Victoria Police for further details. The home is in one of multiple bayside suburbs which neighbours Brighton, home of AFL WAG and outspoken campaigner on violent crime Bec Judd. One of the teens can be heard yelling for the keys to the family's Toyota Land Cruiser, while threatening to 'chop up' the mother if the demands were not met Days after the home invasion, the model influencer took to social media about a separate machete attack in a north Melbourne shopping centre last Sunday. Judd slammed Victoria's Labor state government on Wednesday over the news that the ringleaders were on bail. Two boys, aged 15 and 16, have been charged over the brawl at Northland Shopping Centre. Another five men have since been charged with various offences. The incident prompted Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan to hold a snap press conference on Monday to announce a machete ban would be fast-tracked. The laws banning the sale of machetes were meant to be enforced on September 1, but came into effect on Wednesday. 'Those knives are dangerous weapons,' Premier Allan said. 'They have no place on our streets anywhere and that is why I will introduce as many laws to get these dangerous knives off the streets. '(It) is why I'm announcing today that, effective immediately, we will be bringing in place a ban on the sale of machetes here in Victoria, and this ban will be in place from midday on Wednesday.' Anti-crime crusader Bec Judd took another brutal swipe at Premier Jacinta Allan this week over Victoria's youth crime crisis Victoria's Premier Jacinta Allan this week fast-tracked a ban on the sale of machetes, which came into effect on Wednesday But Mr O'Sullivan believes the machete ban will do little to resolve Victoria's youth crime epidemic. 'It's going to do absolutely nothing,' he said. Since the terrifying invasion, the family have spent almost $10,000 on upgrading their home security. Mr O'Sullivan now sleeps with a crowbar and baseball bat underneath the bed. Daily Mail Australia has contacted Victoria's Police Minister Anthony Carbines for comment.

Bec Judd demands Victoria's Labor government be 'sacked' and calls for state election to be 'brought forward' as she unleashed spray over Northland machete attack

Bec Judd has weighed in on Melbourne's crime wave with a scathing new Instagram post slamming Victoria's Labor government. The AFL WAG reacted with fury after learning that the ringleaders behind a horrifying machete attack in Northland Shopping Centre in Melbourne 's north this weekend were on bail. Alongside a news article with the headline 'Accused ringleaders of Northland machete brawl were on bail shared to Instagram Stories on Wednesday, Bec commented, 'Are we surprised. FFS.' The 42-year-old also shared an interaction with one of her social media followers who asked: 'How do we sack the Victoria state government?' The famously outspoken fashion designer replied: 'It's pretty simple guys – STOP VOTING FOR THEM. 'We have a State Election next year (can we bring it forward?) where every Victorian has the opportunity to show them the door'. The mother-of-four, who is married to former Carlton and West Coast superstar Chris Judd, lives in Brighton in Melbourne's bayside suburbs in $7.4million mansion. It comes after two teenagers were charged after a violent brawl broke out between rival gang members armed with machetes and forced a shopping centre into lockdown. Two boys, aged 15 and 16, have been charged, while another male, 20, was rushed to hospital following the brawl on Sunday at about 2.30pm at Northland Shopping Centre in Melbourne 's north. The teenagers were charged with affray, intentionally causing injury, possessing a controlled weapon and using a controlled weapon and have been remanded to appear in a children's court at a later date. The charges come as Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan held a snap press conference on Monday to announce a machete ban will be expedited. The ban was initially set to be enforced on September 1, however Allan revealed a ban on the sale of machetes would be enforced from Wednesday. 'Those knives are dangerous weapons,' she said. 'They have no place on our streets anywhere and that is why I will introduce as many laws to get these dangerous knives off the streets, which is why I'm announcing today that, effective immediately, we will be bringing in place a ban on the sale of machetes here in Victoria, and this ban will be in place from midday on Wednesday.' The 42-year-old also shared an interaction with one of her social media followers who asked: 'How do we sack the Victoria state government?' The famously outspoken fashion designer replied: 'It's pretty simple guys – STOP VOTING FOR THEM. 'We have a State Election next year (can we bring it forward?) where every Victorian has the opportunity to show them the door' Victoria is the first state in Australia to introduce the ban. Superintendent Kelly Lawson confirmed the attack was not random, saying rival gangs had arranged a meeting at the shopping centre's food court before the fight broke out. 'It is said to have been an act of retaliation,' she said. Police believe about 10 people were involved. 'It was a chaotic scene,' Supt Lawson added. 'It's really frightening for members of the public to go through this.' The centre was locked down during the incident as dozens of police officers responded and shoppers shared updates on social media. The man taken to hospital is in a stable condition. Two other males have since self-presented to hospital with injuries. Supt Lawson said it would not take long to identify all the gang members involved. One shopper said that saw a wounded young man with a 'big machete still in his stomach'. Bec has been immensely vocal on political issues in her home town of Melbourne in recent years. In March, she scolded former Victorian premier Daniel Andrews who she says could've saved lives if he fixed Melbourne 's crime scourge while in power. Judd called Andrews 'the Dictator' in a social media post to her 750,000-plus Instagram followers after current premier Jacinta Allan announced the government would implement harsher bail laws. 'Gee, this aged well,' Judd posted on Instagram with an accompanying image of a 2022 story in which she warned Melbourne has a crime crisis. 'Imagine the lives that could've been saved. Imagine the terror experienced by so many Victorians that could've been stopped if the Dictator had acted when I called this out. 'Today Jacinta Allan has announced the toughest bail laws in the country. Yes it is too late for so many but it is a start. And mark my words, if the government stuffs this up again, I will continue to let everyone know about it. 'I am a mum and proud Victorian who just wants my beloved Melbourne to go back to being the best city in the world where everybody feels safe to live their lives peacefully.' Judd, a successful businesswoman, TV presenter and top tier social media influencer, also proclaimed 'power to the people'. Her Instagram post was in response to harsh new bail laws which will see children and adults suspected of serious crimes including home invasion and carjackings kept behind bars. Premier Allan announced a raft of changes after it became apparent crime was rampant in the city especially amongst youth offenders who are repeatedly set free from remand almost immediately after being charged with a serious crime. She also posted fresh cries for help after two suspects allegedly armed with machetes were recorded entering properties at Black Rock and Kew. 'The size of the machete. 5am this morning. @jacintaallanmp Victorians are DESPERATE for you to do something about this,' Judd wrote. In a second post Judd raised the incident at Kew in Melbourne's east. 'And this one also this morning in Kew,' Judd wrote. 'Victoria is under attack and our leaders are doing nothing.' Victoria's youth crime epidemic hit 23,810 incidents in 2023-2024 - the highest it has been since 2009 and a jump of almost 17 percent on the previous 12 months. And many of the home invasions, aggravated burglaries, car thefts, assaults, brawls and knife attacks which happen daily occur in Melbourne. Among recent incidents were five teens including a 13-year-old boy who were arrested and charged after an alleged carjacking and multiple burglaries in Melbourne's east on February 11. Police spotted a Range Rover Discovery which had allegedly been stolen from Elwood three days earlier. The teens allegedly stole cigarettes from a service station and then ditched the Range Rover about 11.15pm before carjacking a Ford Focus after using a knife to threaten the driver. The boys were all charged with aggravated carjacking, aggravated burglary, theft and aggravated burglary. Forensic psychologist Tim Watson-Munro told the Daily Mail Australia he wanted tougher bail laws in Victoria which are currently 'just a joke'. 'Zooming down the Monash doing 150km/h and they're arrested, bailed and back before court the next day for the same offending,' Dr Watson-Munro said. 'Police arrest them and the offenders laugh at them, they say 'we'll be back out tomorrow'; it's an arrogance, it's lack of respect. 'People are very worried about aggravated burglaries, parents worry about their own children out at all hours where they can get bashed and stabbed, these crimes even happen in broad daylight.' Bec has not only been a flag-bearer for fighting Victoria's spiralling crime crisis and weak bail laws but has in recent months mingled with prominent right wing politicians The rampant crime in Melbourne, once regarded as Australia's most liveable city, has taken over news broadcasts are now filled with reports of carjackings, fire bombings and random knife attacks. But in a sad twist, these horror stories are buried deep within the nightly news broadcasts - a side piece in a city that has become accustomed to rampant, mindless violence. In the background, angry Melburnians hit social media to vent about the state's crime wave. Bec has not only been a flag-bearer for fighting Victoria's spiralling crime crisis and weak bail laws but has in recent months mingled with prominent right wing politicians. In February, she was seen at the LIV Golf tournament in Adelaide, partying with the Victorian deputy Liberal leader Sam Groth. Also on hand for the fun was Groth's wife Brittany and influencer Jessie Roberts.

Sydney vs Melbourne rivalry reignited as Toorak 'it' girls take on the eastern suburbs socialites at swanky fashion dinner - but there is one noticeable absence: 'They know how to show up'

The age-old Sydney versus Melbourne rivalry reared its head again this week. And it all happened at the launch of Melbourne based designer Effie Kats' new collection at the Buon Ricordo restaurant in the Sydney Suburb of Paddington. A gaggle of Melbourne's hottest 'It' girls made the trek up north for the event where they were joined by some Sydney's most notable socialites. The Melbourne gang included Nadia Bartel, Lindy Klim, Rozilla Russian, Sarah Lucas, Jade Kisnorbo, Lana Wilkinson, and the woman of the hour, Effie Kats. Curiously, the doyenne of Melbourne socialites, Bec Judd, was conspicuously absent. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Meanwhile, the Sydney contingent was represented by Bernadette Fahey, Deborah Symond O'Neil, Simone Holtznagel, Anna Heinrich, Ellie Ferguson, Montana Cox, Kate Waterhouse, Sarah Ellen and Indy Clinton. It was somewhat of an auspicious occasion too, with the Melbourne and Sydney socialite clutches rarely seen together outside of huge events such as the Melbourne Cup Carnival. While there was interstate mingling, both groups posed for some separate group photos. The Melbourne contingent appeared to arrive at the event together, with Sydney based Elle Ferguson sharing a shot of the group to Instagram. The image showed fashion influencer Rozalia , makeup artist Jade Kisnorbo, Effie, Henne designer Nadia, stylist Lana and socialite Sarah posing up a storm as they arrived. 'The Melbourne crew know how to show up. Just WOW!' Ellie captioned the stunning snap. The Sydney contingent appeared to be sticking together too, with former Bachelor star Anna sharing a selfie to Instagram that showed her posing cheek to cheek with racing heiress Kate Waterhouse. There did seem to be some interstate mingling on Anna's feed however, with another photo showing her posing close with Sydney model Simone and Jade Kisnorbo. The Sydney contingent appeared to be sticking together, with former Bachelor star Anna Heinrich sharing a selfie to Instagram that showed her posing cheek to cheek with racing heiress Kate Waterhouse. There did seem to be some interstate mingling on Anna's feed however, with another photo showing her posing close with Sydney model Simone Holtznagel and Jade Kisnorbo The event appeared to go off with a bang, with all attendees looking as though they were having a great night out in Sydney. TikTok star Indy Clinton looked to be having a whale of a time, beaming broadly as she exited the venue. She put on a quirky display, shielding herself from the rain with an eye-catching children's umbrella. The colourful accessory was somewhat at odds with Indy's chic fitted black dress with a cut-out at the midriff. Nadia Bartel was dressed to the nines in a chocolate brown full length gown with a plunging, bare back. The dress clung close to her figure before flaring off into draped skirting and also included sheer long sleeves. Nadia chose a warm toned makeup look with lots of highlighter and a dark pink nude lip. The former AFL WAG was seen leaving the venue with Melbourne-based actress Sarah Ellen. The Neighbours actress brought out her inner goth with a pale makeup look and daring black velvet dress with a large cut out at the side and a short train. Sarah was also spotted at the front of the venue with her pal and music collaborator Josh Kempen who rugged up in a grey beanie. Aussie Home Loans heiress Deborah Symond O'Neil put on quite a stylish display in a stunning strapless white gown. She left her flaxen locks down for the occasion, accessorising with some silver bling in her ears and a matching thick silver necklace. Simone Holtznagel was also spotted leaving the venue, rugging up in a long black trench coat that finished below the knee. She wore this over a stunning black one shoulder gown that sat close to her figure. Bondi Pilates queen Bernadette Fahey was also all smiles leaving the star-studded event. She cut a chic figure in a high-neck black blouse that she wore under a smart black blazer.
