Bella Astillah, Syed Saddiq delight fans with traditional dance
PETALING JAYA: Local celebrity Bella Astillah and Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman wowed social media with their captivating rendition of traditional ethnic dances to celebrate the harvest festivals of Sabah and Sarawak. Bella, whose full name is Dayang Ara Nabella Awang Astillah, posted the TikTok video of her and Syed Saddiq performing while dressed in traditional costumes, complete with headgear and accessories. 'My first dance with YB (Syed Saddiq) was not perfect, but it was perfectly fun. 'I am grateful for your courage and willingness to try something new. That's what made it special,' she wrote in the post. She also wished everyone a meaningful and happy Kaamatan Festival and Gawai Day celebration. While many social media users commended them for their efforts, some teased Syed Saddiq for his dance moves, and some also advised him not to quit his day job as a politician. Online portal Majoriti also quoted Syed Saddiq as labelling himself a 'robot' for his dance moves. 'From day to night, we had many retakes as I was awkward/robotic. Luckily, I had Bella by my side to make things less awkward. 'I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I rewatch the video, but it's okay, I will just focus on parliamentary work,' he said. Sabahans celebrated the Kaamatan Festival on May 30 and 31, while Sarawakians observe Gawai Day on June 1 and 2.

Disposable vape ban: Help young vapers and don't judge, Liverpool medic says
Parents should help young people quit vaping by offering "support - not judgement", a hospital consultant has said as a ban on the sale and supply of disposable vapes comes into force on government hopes the ban will curb littering and cut down youth vaping, which has increased despite it being illegal to sell the products to under-18s. Professor Rachel Isba, from Alder Hey Children's Hospital vaping cessation clinic in Liverpool, told BBC Radio 4 that vaping had "sort of snuck up on children and was now so widespread that it's sort of normalised".She advised parents to "guide" their children to a choice rather than just saying they were not allowed, but admitted "it's tricky". Seventeen-year-old Bella is among those receiving support at Alder Hey after vaping for three years."I wake up and then reach for my vape and then feel like I'm ready," she mother Lindsey recalled Bella asking for a box of vapes as a Christmas gift, and said: "I just shook my head and walked away from her."Bella told the BBC she had also seen "really young people vaping in the toilets" at school."I think it's good that they're banning disposable vapes because it's harder to get a reusable one so now more kids can't start." But Bella said she also felt there was a lack of support for young vapers, which Prof Isba agreed with."There are probably tens of thousands of children and young people who want to stop vaping and we don't have the services to support them," she said. "One of the great joys of this clinic [at Alder Hey] is that we can craft it around individual children and young people."She urged parents and carers to approach the issue of their child vaping "from a place of support, not judgement, which is really hard as a parent myself".She said: "It's tricky because you want your child to be as healthy as they can. "But actually my experience has been that supporting them and guiding them to a decision or a choice - rather than just saying 'you are not allowed to vape, you are not allowed to smoke, don't do it' - is a really great place to start."Marcus Sexton, of Blackburn vape shop chain Totally Wicked, said he thought the ban on disposable vapes was more "about environmental grounds". 'Not risk-free' "I was in Manchester recently watching people return them [for recycling]. It's great - but not enough people do," Mr Sexton called on the government to "make sure they don't throw the baby out with the bathwater by making it so hard and difficult for stores and consumers who are smokers to access these products".But he agreed that should be balanced with restricting access for those who were Minister Mary Creagh, who is an ex-smoker and pushed for the ban, admitted vapes could help people quit smoking but said she did not want a new generation to start vaping. She said about eight million disposable vapes were thrown away per week, and they cause 1,200 fires have been widespread concerns about the use of some brands which have "skyrocketed, particularly among younger people", according to the data suggested about 980,000 youngsters aged 11-17 have tried vaping, which is about 18% of that age demographic. However those who vape regularly were estimated to be about 3.7% of the 11-18 age group. The NHS said "developing lungs and brains mean they are more sensitive" to the impact of nicotine vaping, which is "less harmful than smoking but is not risk-free". Severely emaciated Great Dane ‘grateful' after Polk deputies rescue her, Terrier sibling
POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — The Polk County Sheriff's Office shared a video updating on the condition of Stella, a Great Dane rescued from an animal cruelty situation. The sheriff's office took custody of the pup on Tuesday, after her owner, Auburndale Public Utilities Director Bradford Thomas, was arrested and charged with animal cruelty. City of Auburndale's public utilities director accused of neglecting his dogs The 8-year-old dog weighed just 60.8 pounds when she was brought to Polk County Animal Control, half of the recommended 120 pounds for a dog her size. 'We fed her ourselves, and she was very grateful to eat a lot,' Detective Jacob Durrance said. 'Was not a picky eater at all. Like Mr. Thomas claimed she was.' In addition to being severely emaciated and in obvious pain, Stella was also covered in fleas, dirt, scabs and had swollen, infected feet. The sheriff's office said she's already gained 8 pounds in the few days she's been in their care, and is already looking happier and healthier. 'You can obviously tell she loves to be loved on,' Durrance said. 'She got a nice bath today and is no longer covered in fleas and flea dirt, but she does have a long road to recovery.' Deputies also rescued Bella, a Terrier mix they estimated to be around 18 years old. Bella was suffering from flea dermatitis on her back that resulted in hair loss. Both dogs are now recovering at Polk County Animal Control and will hopefully be up for adoption when they're fully healed. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Instagram/@toospoiled 'Over 20 years ago, our dad, while single, had a brief relationship that led to a pregnancy,' Gigi and Bella told the Daily Mail in a statement. The sisters also revealed that Nix did not know Mohamed was her dad until recently. Instagram/@toospoiled 11 She reportedly grew up with a man she thought was her father, said Gigi and Bella. Instagram/@toospoiled 11 It wasn't until after he passed away when she was 19 that she discovered the truth. Instagram/@toospoiled The Hadid sisters explained that Nix 'decided to take a genetic test out of curiosity,' which led to the shocking discovery that she had 'a biological connection' to them. Gigi and Bella said they have known about their half-sister for over a year, sharing that they 'first connected in late 2023,' with Daily Mail claiming it happened while Nix was studying abroad in Paris last year. We kindly ask others to do the same and honor her wish and right to her anonymity as she continues her life as a young woman in New York.' Besides the kids he shares with Yolanda, Mohamed is also dad to daughters Marielle, 44, and Alana, 39, whom he welcomed with his first wife, Mary Butler. As of this post, he has not publicly acknowledged Nix as his daughter, but he does follow her on Instagram. The Post reached out to Mohamed for comment.

RSPCA: Bella the Lurcher in Newport is ready for a new home
Two-year-old black-and-white Lurcher crossbreed Bella was taken into RSPCA care in October last year after being rescued alongside other dogs. After being cared for at the charity's Newport Animal Centre since November, Bella has gone from strength to strength and is now ready to meet her new owners. Bella is very food-motivated, which makes building a bond and continuing her training a joy for someone who will be patient and kind with her. Bella is looking for a calm and understanding home. She likes her space and would prefer to be the only pet in the household. She can be easily spooked and needs a quiet, adult-only environment where she can feel safe and build trust. She can be a bit nervous at first, but once she feels secure and you win her trust, her gentle and loyal nature shines through. (Image: RSPCA) Hayley Moorey, behaviourist at Newport Animal Centre, said: "Bella hasn't had an easy start in life, but we know in the right home she will thrive. "She is so sweet and has so much love to give, and with the right family she will be a loving and devoted companion. "Bella can be a little shy at first but is super affectionate with people she knows - once she knows you, she loves to snuggle in and she loves a sofa. "She loves to chill out with us in reception when it's quiet and run around with toys, throwing them up into the air. "She is super clever and loves to use her nose - she's a great tracker. "She has a natural gift for it, so would be great for people who enjoy practising tracking or scent work." She wears a muzzle as part of ongoing training and likes to explore the world at her own pace - meaning off-lead runs in a secure, enclosed field or paddock will be best for her. Prospective adopters can contact RSPCA Newport Animal Centre on 0300 123 0744 or email newport@ for more information.
