Israel's Chief of Staff: War Against Iran Is Not Over
Israel's Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir said Tuesday that the military operation against Iran is not over. He instructed the army to be prepared for 'a continued wide-scale and comprehensive campaign.' During a rare 'multi-front situational assessment' at the Glilot intelligence base - the first of its kind in nearly two years- Zamir said 'Iran and its axis remain in our sights. The campaign against Iran is not over.' He noted that 2026 would be a year focused on preparedness, restoring capabilities, and seizing operational opportunities. On Tuesday, Zamir and top generals reviewed the operational, intelligence, and strategic picture across all fronts. 'The Israeli Army must operate offensively across multiple arenas alongside vital defense in each sector and along our borders,' he said. 'We will continue preserving air superiority and advancing the intelligence effort.' On Gaza, he described the war there as 'one of the most complex' the army has ever faced. 'We have achieved very significant accomplishments, and the Southern Command continues to lead with standing army and reserve brigades in offense and defense. We are paying a heavy price in the fighting,' he said. Zamir also underscored the need for continued operations in the West Bank, against Hezbollah in Lebanon, and against Iranian targets in Syria. Meanwhile, former Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz said if the Iranian regime does not abandon its nuclear program, then Israel may have to strike again. According to him, the Iranian government poses a serious threat not only to Israel but also to broader regional stability. Gantz said Israel cannot allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons. 'We made the right decision with our previous strikes,' he said. The former minister noted that the best solution to guarantee that Iran does not possess a nuclear weapon would be peaceful pressure to compel Tehran to abandon its nuclear activities, but this method does not seem to be working in practice. Therefore, military measures may return to the agenda, he said.

Israel warns of renewed strikes against Iran
Shafaq News – Tel Aviv On Tuesday, Israeli leaders signaled that military strikes on Iran could resume if necessary, a month after a fragile ceasefire ended their 12-day war. Israeli Army Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir declared in a public briefing that 'the campaign against Iran is not over,' emphasizing that Tehran and its regional allies remain firmly in Israel's sights. Israeli Blue and White Party chairman Benny Gantz echoed the warning during the Conference of Presidents in Jerusalem that Iran poses 'a global and regional problem and a threat to the State of Israel.' 'We cannot allow a nuclear Iran, and it was right that we struck there. We may need to strike there again," he added. Earlier, US President Donald Trump stood by last month's American strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. 'We will do it again, if necessary!' he wrote on Truth Social, responding to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi's admission that the targeted sites had suffered extensive damage. Tensions between both sides have remained high since the June conflict, which involved nearly two weeks of missile and drone exchanges before a truce was reached. Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and top military commanders warned Israel and the US of attacking the country again. 'Iran is capable of delivering a stronger blow to its enemies than what it carried out during last month's conflict with Israel,' Khamenei noted in a televised address.

National Unity MK Gadi Eisenkot formally resigns from Knesset
"I have seen greatness in serving the people," he wrote. "I will act with faith and commitment to creating a leadership alternative worthy of the State of Israel." National Unity MK Gadi Eisenkot formally submitted his letter of resignation from the Knesset to Knesset Speaker MK Amir Ohana on Wednesday. "I have seen greatness in serving the people," he wrote. "I will act with faith and commitment to creating a leadership alternative worthy of the State of Israel." 'Member of Knesset Lt. Gen. (res.) Gadi Eisenkot informed National Unity Party chairman Benny Gantz of his intention to leave the party and return his mandate to it,' the party said in a statement earlier in the week. 'The two emphasized their long-standing friendship and mutual respect, and stated that they will continue to collaborate toward shared goals and for the benefit of the people of Israel in the future as well." Eisenkot held a press conference on Tuesday, elaborating his reasons for leaving Gantz's party. Eisenkot began by mentioning the establishment of the National Unity party three years ago, together with Benny Gantz and Gideon Sa'ar, with the aim of creating a liberal democratic state Zionist union. He emphasized that these principles are even more true after the October 7 failure. He said that he has been working for many months to strengthen the liberal party bloc, with the aim of presenting a governing alternative. Referring to his relationship with Benny Gantz, he clarified that his exit is not a personal matter but rather highlights a substantive debate. "I thought that a transparent and deep democratization process was needed to build the party as a significant entity, and unfortunately, that didn't happen. There was also a disagreement on the way to create change. We need to build a leadership alternative that will lead to victory in the next elections," Eisenkot said. Eisenkot has reportedly met with both Opposition Leader MK Yair Lapid and former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, and is considering joining both of them ahead of the next election.

MK Gadi Eisenkot announces split from Gantz's National Unity party
Eisenkot reportedly said the party's primaries "do not reflect the principles of democratization that I believe are necessary for a ruling party." In a remarkable political development on Monday, MK Benny Gantz's National Unity party announced on Sunday that the party's number two, former IDF chief of staff MK Gadi Eisenkot, was leaving the party and resigning from the Knesset. 'Member of Knesset Lt. Gen. (res.) Gadi Eisenkot informed National Unity Party chairman Benny Gantz of his intention to leave the party and return his mandate to it,' the party said in a statement. 'The two emphasized their long-standing friendship and mutual respect, and stated that they will continue to collaborate toward shared goals and for the benefit of the people of Israel in the future as well," the party statement concluded. Eisenkot ran alongside Gantz in the 2022 election after receiving guarantees that the party would undergo a 'democratization' process that will include a primary election, including for party leadership. However, Gantz failed to deliver on that process. The party announced on June1 that had approved a series of measures intended at opening and broadening its ranks, including an election for party leadership. However, the measures stipulated that a 150-member body would elect the party leader, whose members will be chosen by Gantz. This made it unrealistic for Eisenkot to compete for party leadership. Eisenkot has reportedly met with both Opposition Leader MK Yair Lapid and former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, and is considering joining both of them ahead of the next election. Eisenkot's resignation means that former Ra'anana mayor and MK Eytan Ginzburg, who is next on the party's list, will enter in his stead. The announcement was a blow to Gantz, who has attempted to portray a unified front with Eisenkot in recent months despite rumors of Eisenkot considering his departure. Eisenkot is the fifth MK to leave Gantz's party, after Foreign Minister MK Gideon Sa'ar broke from the party in March 2024, when National Unity was part of the government, over criticism of Gantz's policies regarding the Gaza war. Gantz put out a statement of his own soon after the party's announcement. "Following a deep and lengthy process of conversations between us, my friend Gadi Eisenkot informed me today that he has decided to leave the National Unity party and resign from the Knesset. In recent weeks, significant ideological differences have emerged between us regarding the right way to serve the State of Israel," Gantz said. "Gadi is, first and foremost, a personal friend. He is a worthy individual who has served the country for decades, and I am confident he will continue to serve it in his own way. Even if our political partnership has come to an end at this time — our friendship and mutual respect will remain," Gantz conclude

Former Israeli Defense Minister Feels Sorry over Civilian Casualties in Gaza, Iran
Former Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz felt sorry over civilian casualties in Israeli conflicts with both Gaza and Iran, according to Arab News. 'I'm very sorry for every Iranian civilian that was killed, just as I'm very sorry for every citizen in Gaza who is being killed,' Gantz said. Gantz's remarks come in a crucial time when Israel is killing Palestinians in Gaza who are experiencing the injustice of war and bombardment. Moreover, Israel launched a wave of airstrikes on Iran on June 13 under the name of Operation Rising Lion. The military campaign targeted Iran's nuclear facilities and killed top military commanders and nuclear scientists. As a response, Iran launched a retaliatory wave of missiles against Israel and targeted Tel Aviv. Israel also killed several Iranian nuclear scientists in line with its goal to eliminate Iran's nuclear program. Crucially, Israel announced that it was hit by over 50 missiles during the 12-day war with Iran, resulting in 28 deaths. However, the real extent of the damage may never be known because of media restrictions. The Israeli airstrikes on Iran killed at least 627 people and injured approximately 4,900.
