SRCA Ready For Hajj 1446 Ah With Over 14.5 Million Medical Supplies
JEDDAH, May 31 (Bernama-SPA) -- As part of its field preparations for the Hajj season 1446 AH, the Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) has completed the preparation of over 7,500 boxes of medical supplies and medications, encompassing more than two million medical items, to equip ambulances, vehicles, and medical bags. According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) to enhance field emergency response, the SRCA supported the Grand Mosque area in Makkah and the holy sites with three mobile medical supply vehicles carrying over 30,000 medical items. With over 200,000 medical items distributed in strategic storage locations in Mina and Muzdalifah, the authority's total medical reserve for the Hajj season amounts to more than 12.5 million medical items and medications, spread across three strategic locations in Makkah.

Madinah Ranks Third in Saudi Arabia's Date Output, Touted as Investment Hub
MADINAH (Saudi Arabia), May 29 (Bernama-SPA) -- The Madinah Region is ranked as the third-largest date-producing region in Saudi Arabia, with an annual output of approximately 344,000 tonnes from more than eight million palm trees, known for producing some of the finest dates. According to a report by the Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah Chamber of Commerce, Qassim Region led national date production by the end of 2023, accounting for 30 per cent (578,100 tonnes) of the total output, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. It was followed by Riyadh region with 24 per cent (453,100 tonnes), Madinah with 18 per cent (343,100 tonnes) and the Eastern region with 14 per cent (258,700 tonnes). bootstrap slideshow The report highlighted Madinah's competitive advantages in date palm cultivation, offering opportunities for innovative projects in farming and production. It also encouraged the development of modern farms equipped with advanced irrigation technologies. It noted the rising demand for organic date production, driven by consumer preferences for healthy and natural products, along with the growing role of research and development in improving varieties and enhancing crop quality. The report further pointed to investment prospects in the manufacturing of date-based products, such as date paste as a natural sugar alternative, date syrup for local and international markets, and a range of goods including pastries, sweets, beverages and energy supplements marketed as health products. Significant export potential was also highlighted, particularly through the creation of specialised companies focused on packaging dates to meet international standards and attract global buyers. There is also room to expand into new export markets across Europe, Asia and North America. In addition, the report identified the potential for launching projects that collect date seeds from consumers for use in animal feed and the production of eco-friendly items, such as industrial wood made from palm by-products.

Hot Weather, Gusty Winds Expected For Holy Sites During Hajj
MAKKAH, May 29 (Bernama-SPA) -- The National Centre for Meteorology has forecast hot to extremely hot weather conditions at the holy sites during this year's Hajj season, 1446 AH, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. Maximum temperatures will range from 40 degrees Celsius to 47 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures will vary from 27 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels are expected to fluctuate between 15 per cent and 60 per cent. The Centre's CEO, Dr Ayman Ghulam, stated that winds during the Hajj season are expected to be northerly to north-westerly, with speeds ranging from 25–35 km/h. These winds may stir up dust, potentially reducing horizontal visibility, particularly in open areas and along highways.

Over 1.18 Million Pilgrims Arrive In Saudi Arabia Ahead of Arafah Day, Eid Al-Adha
RIYADH, May 28 (Bernama-SPA) -- Over 1.18 million pilgrims from around the world have arrived in Saudi Arabia ahead of the Day of Arafah and Eid al-Adha, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) according to the General Directorate of Passports. The directorate reported that as of the end of Tuesday, a total of 1,180,306 pilgrims had entered the Kingdom through its air, land and sea entry points. Of this figure, 1,115,663 pilgrims arrived via airports, while 60,365 entered through land border crossings, and 4,278 through seaports.
