Aaron Paul reveals Bryan Cranston's brutal Breaking Bad prank

Aaron Paul has opened up about a savage prank 'best friend' Bryan Cranston played on him while filming Breaking Bad. The 45-year-old starred as Jesse Pinkman opposite Bryan's Walter White across all five seasons of the gritty drama, which is widely regarded as the best TV series of all time. During an appearance on Hot Ones, he shed light sharing the screen with the 69-year-old and the firm friendship they built on set – as well as their 'endless' escapades behind the scenes. When host Sean Evans questioned him on the 'most perturbing' prank his castmate pulled during the shoot, Aaron revealed that his co-star once convinced him that he had been axed from the show in a 'big' way. 'I always say he's the hardest worker in the room, the most lovable…,' he insisted. 'He's my best friend, my son's godfather, I adore him. I spoke to him for an hour on the phone last night. I really am obsessed with the guy. 'But he's also the most immature person I've ever met in my life, and I say that with love and respect. 'The list [of pranks] was endless but I remember on Breaking Bad, he came out of the production office and he came up to me, and goes, 'Come here, it's okay'. And he gives me this long hug. 'I'm like, 'What are you doing?' He's like, 'At least you go out in a big way, huh?' I'm like, 'What are you talking about?'' Bryan asked whether Aaron had 'read the latest script', suggesting that something terrible happens to Jesse, and got other members of the crew in on the joke. In a savage move, he urged his co-star to 'just read it', vowing that he was there for support if needed. 'I sprinted into the production office, I go, 'Bryan just read the latest script, what happens? I want to read it!',' Aaron continued. 'Of course, I just go to the final pages and nothing happened, I'm still around, but he just made it seem like I died. 'But he would not stop. And he would get everybody in on it. The costume designers said, 'Hey, look, we got to do your measurements for the casket, so if you could stay after work, that would be great.' 'This was all him. But I made it!' Jesse did indeed survive the entire run of Breaking Bad, with the iconic character even landing a spin-off film, El Camino, on Netflix. More Trending The movie was released in 2019 and picks up directly after the series finale, focusing on the drug dealer as he attempts to tie up loose ends and escape his former life, leaving the meth business behind to start afresh. Aaron and Bryan also famously reprised their roles for very brief stints in the final season of the hit prequel, Better Call Saul. View More » Breaking Bad is available to stream on Netflix. 'The Last of Us' Season 2 Just Changed How We Understand Joel

The Last of Us It's no secret that fatherhood is a major theme in The Last of Us. But while Joel exists as Ellie's surrogate father figure in both the original video games and the HBO television adaptation, who was Joel's father? The character has never been mentioned, let alone seen in any of the original video games. But on TV, The Last of Us season 2 just gave an answer to a question few fans probably didn't even think to ask. In the newest episode of The Last of Us, "The Price," (season 2, episode 6) the series rewinds the clock to explore the years Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) spent together in Jackson. While their earliest memories are happy, their relationship strains over time. Not only does Ellie oppose some of Joel's actions—namely, how he kills an infected Jackson resident, Eugene (Joe Pantoliano), despite promising he wouldn't—but Ellie correctly suspects that Joel is hiding what happened in Salt Lake City. But the top of the episode brings audiences back in time even further, to 1983. Before there were fungus zombies and survivalist factions, life for Joel and his brother Tommy was just as bleak under their father, Javier, played by guest star Tony Dalton. (You might recognize him from Better Call Saul, or the Marvel shows Hawkeye and Daredevil: Born Again.) While Javier's screen time is short, his appearance reveals a wealth about Joel, including the seeds that drive him to watch over Ellie like his own daughter. On one fateful night in 1983, a young Tommy (played by David Miranda) gets into a fight with a neighborhood drug dealer, which compels a teenage Joel (Andrew Diaz) to step in. At home, Joel volunteers to take the blame for the whole incident to protect Tommy from a beating at the hands of their father, who is also a cop. Though Javier admits he's abusive, he argues that he isn't as harsh as his own father. "Okay, yeah, I've hit you. And I've hit Tommy," Javier admits to Joel. "But never like that. Not even close." He continues, "But I'm doing a little better than my father did. And you know, when it's your turn, I hope you do a little better than me." Javier then offers his son a beer, a symbol of uneasy understanding between the two of them. The backstory is basically Joel's origin story, showing how and why he was so driven to protect Ellie. He was a man who used violence to protect his loved ones and believed he was doing the right thing, even when his actions said otherwise. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, creator and series executive producer Neil Druckmann explains as much, revealing how the scene encapsulates Joel's outlook that follows him to the end. "What the dad ultimately says is, 'I think I've done the right things, but I'm not entirely sure. I just know that I did things better than my dad, who beat me even worse,'" Druckmann said. "His insecurity about that stays with Joel as well. Joel's doing the best he can with the tools that are in front of him, but he loves Ellie unconditionally." Javier is an original character invented for the HBO series; Joel never mentioned his father in any of the games. But his inclusion deepens our understanding of Joel, a man who had rough edges but held a warmth informed by inherited traumas. You might not agree with anything Joel did, but you can't argue he wasn't doing what he thought was best, even if it killed him. Did You Notice THIS Daredevil: Born Again Star's Cameo in The Last of Us Season 2 Episode 6? Here's How He Was Cast

Warning: This article contains major spoilers for The Last of Us, season 2, episode 6. Marvel fans might have noticed a major actor's presence in season 2, episode 6 of The Last of Us. Tony Dalton, who Marvel Cinematic Universe fans might know as The Swordsman, made his way into the outing of the post-apocalyptic series. In case you might know, the actor was seen in a flashback sequence of The Last of Us. Talking about the actors' casting, showrunner Neil Druckmann stated to Entertainment Weekly that Tony Dalton was his first choice to play the character of Javier Miller. "I just loved his performance so much in Better Call Saul. I jokingly refer to him as the most charming, threatening man I've ever seen on television," he added of the cast. Not only that, but after Dalton portrayed the character flawlessly, Druckman also cast him in Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which happens to be the next original video game from the developers at Naughty Dog. Interestingly, Neil Druckmann serves this project as its president and head of creative. Coming to The Last of Us, Tony Dalton was seen in a flashback from the year 1983. His character, Javier Miller, was of a local police officer who is also a violent father of Pedro Pascal 's Joel and Gabriel Luna's Tommy. A young Joel is seen to be sitting at a table when his father comes home, expecting a beating. Meanwhile, Tommy is shown to try to buy drugs but comes across an incident with the dealer. Soon, Joel intervenes in the event, also beating the drug dealer while getting in trouble with the cops. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Dalton was seen playing the mutant for the first time in Hawkeye and recently in the Charlie Cox-starring revival of the Hornhead series, Daredevil: Born Again.
