Original 90210 cast now - horror crash, life-changing injury and tragic deaths

Beverly Hills 90210 was a huge hit in the 90s and the cast have gone on to have varied careers - but sadly, some have also faced heartbreak and tragedy. Here we take a look at what happened to the cast... It feels like just yesterday we were engrossed in the trials and tribulations of the 90210 kids as they navigated high school and beyond. Set against the backdrop of the glitzy Beverly Hills community, the lives of these privileged Californian youngsters had us hooked throughout the 90s. Beginning with the arrival of the Walsh twins in the upscale neighbourhood, the teen drama spanned an impressive 10 seasons from 1990 to 2000. Its popularity led to several spin-off shows, including Melrose Place, and the BH90210 reboot series, which saw some of the original cast return to their roles. ‌ The iconic series kept us on the edge of our seats with its explosive storylines, addressing a variety of hard-hitting issues such as teenage pregnancy, AIDS, date rape, drug misuse, domestic violence and suicide. Despite a few cast changes over the years, four stars remained constant throughout the entire decade-long run of the series. ‌ The cast have since gone their separate ways, with some coming back to play 'heightened versions' of themselves in the 2019 reboot. And some of their lives have been just as dramatic and upsetting as their characters experienced, including a tragic death and a horrific car crash. Here's what happened to the original Beverly Hills, 90210 cast... Jason Priestley - Brandon Walsh Heartthrob Brandon Walsh was the moral centre of the show and was far more ethical than some of his friends. Brandon was the popular teen that we all wished we could be, and tears were shed when he left in the ninth season, but he returned for the final episode of the series. In real life, actor Jason Priestley continued to serve as executive producer until the show ended in 2000. He went on to appear in a number of shows, including What I Like About You, Without A Trace, My Name Is Earl and as himself in How I Met Your Mother. Jason also made a move behind the camera and became a director, and even directed Tori Spelling's return episode to 90210. The actor married make-up artist Naomi Lowde in May 2005, and they have a daughter and son together. ‌ Aside from work, Jason is a big fan of driving race-cars, which led to a nasty injury at the Kentucky Speedway in August 2002 when he crashed into a wall at nearly 180mph. He was also thrown off a horse on the set of The Code in 2015. Priestley returned as Brandon in the 90210 reboot series and was also co-producer and director. Shannen Doherty - Brenda Walsh Brandon's twin sister Brenda started off as the nice girl, but quickly became more devious as she started to break the rules. After four seasons, she left California to move to Europe, but was regularly mentioned by other characters. ‌ When Doherty left the show in 1994, she starred in TV movies, Mallrats and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Her next big series was Charmed, where she played the witch Prue Halliwell, as well as directing some episodes in the second and third seasons. She's been married three times, to Ashley Hamilton and Rick Salomon, and Kurt Iswarienko, whom she married in 2011 before splitting in January 2023. Shannen returned to reprise her role for the reboot series BH90210 in 2019. Sadly, in March 2015, Shannen was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a single mastectomy in May 2016 as well as chemo and radiotherapy. ‌ She announced her cancer was in remission in April 2017, but tragically, in February 2020, she revealed it had returned a year prior and was now stage four. The cancer was metastatic, which means it had spread beyond the breasts and lymph nodes and into her spine. After a lengthy battle with cancer, Shannon passed away at the age of 53 on July 13 2024. Luke Perry - Dylan McKay Dylan was a loner until he got in with the gang and had relationships with Brenda and Kelly. He was rocked by the 'death' of his father in an apparent Mafia hit, then went to rehab after a near-fatal car crash. After the show ended in 2000, actor Luke Perry had guest roles in Will & Grace, Criminal Minds and The Simpsons. He also had roles in major films including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, 8 Seconds and The Fifth Element during the 90s. ‌ Luke became popular with another generation of teens when he played Fred Andrews in Riverdale from 2017 until his tragic death. The much-loved actor, who had two children with ex-wife Rachel Sharp, sadly passed away in March 2019 at the age of just 52. He suffered a massive ischemic stroke at his home in LA, then his family made the heartbreaking decision to turn off his life support after he had a second stroke. Luke was engaged to therapist Wendy Madison Bauer at the time of his passing. ‌ His final film role was in Quentin Tarantino's blockbuster Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The decision was made to also have his Riverdale character die, and the opening episode of the fourth season was dedicated to Luke. Jennie Garth - Kelly Taylor Beverly Hills Princess Kelly was a bit of a spoiled teen at the start of the show and was the central character throughout the whole 90210 franchise. Having many love interests, the vixen got into an epic love triangle with Brandon and Dylan, but chose neither of them in the end. Jennie Garth's character was also instrumental in launching the spin-off show Melrose Place. ‌ After the main show ended, Jennie starred in sitcom What I Like About You from 2002 until 2006 and had her own reality show Jennie Garth: A Little Bit Country. She reached the semi-finals of Dancing With the Stars in 2007 and made a cameo on Sesame Street in 2009. Jennie met second husband Peter Facinelli on the set of film An Unfinished Affair and they married in 2001. They have three daughters together and divorced in June 2013. She went on to marry actor David Abrams in July 2015 but they filed for divorce in April 2018, although Abrams filed a petition to dismiss divorce proceedings in February 2019. ‌ Brian Austin Green - David Silver David was the lovable, geeky teen who always wanted to be part of the popular crowd. The school DJ aspired to be a hip-hop artist and went through several break-ups and reunions with Donna over the series. Actor Brian Austin Green, who starred in all of the seasons, went on to have a very successful acting career. He starred in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Desperate Housewives, Anger Management, One Tree Hill and Smallville. His relationship with Megan Fox has been a bit of a roller coaster ride. In 2004, he started dating the actress after meeting on the set of Hope & Faith when he was 30 and she was 18 years old. ‌ There was a bit of back and forth as they got engaged in 2006, broke that off in February 2009, then announced they were betrothed again in June 2010. The couple got married in Hawaii several days later, but Fox filed for divorce in August 2015. They reconciled in early 2016, then in May 2024 Green announced they had separated once again after a decade of marriage. He is dad to three sons with Fox, Noah, Bodhi and Journey, as well as another son, Kassius, from a previous relationship with 90210 castmate Vanessa Marcil. Tori Spelling - Donna Martin Ditsy but sweet Donna started off as a supporting role but gradually became a main character, and had an awful time at school. She was cheated on multiple times, was in an abusive relationship, almost raped while held hostage and struggled with her strict Catholic mother. In real life, actress Tori Spelling is the daughter of famous producer Aaron Spelling, whose company co-produced 90210, and who sadly died in June 2006. After leaving the show at the end of its run, Tori starred in made-for-TV films A Friend To Die For, A Christmas Carol and The Last Sharknado. ‌ She also played herself in parody sitcom So NoTORIous in 2006 and had a reality series, Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood, with second husband Dean McDermott. Her autobiography, Tori Telling, was top of the New York Times Best Seller list and named their best celebrity autobiography of 2009. She has five children with ex-husband Dean McDermott, a fellow actor, whom she divorced in 2024. Tori is also an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church Monastery. ‌ Ian Ziering - Steve Sanders Immature ladies' man Steve was the brash, rich kid who had money, girls and notoriety. He was always up to some sort of dodgy scheme, but started to show a more mature side as the series progressed. Ziering stayed for the whole duration of the show, then appeared in other TV shows such as What I Like About You and was the voice of Vinnie in Biker Mice from Mars. He has starred as Fin Shephard in all six Sharknado movies, saving the world from flying sea predators. Outside of acting, Ziering spent four weeks in Las Vegas performing with the Chippendales in 2013. He also appeared in Celebrity Apprentice in 2015 and Worst Cooks in America in 2018. ‌ Ziering married Playboy model Nikki Schieler in July 1997, but they divorced in February 2002 due to irreconcilable differences. The actor went on to wed Erin Ludwig in May 2010, and the couple has two daughters together, but they announced they had separated in October 2023. Gabrielle Carteris - Andrea Zuckerman ‌ The editor of the West Beverley Blaze school paper, geeky Andrea, had the brains but was awkward in social situations. While initially an outsider, Andrea got into the gang through Brandon, then became part of the girls' group. Actress Gabrielle Carteris was the oldest cast member playing the schoolkids - and had a role as a 15-year-old when she was actually 29. Gabrielle left the show in 1995 and became the host of her own TV talk show, Gabrielle, which only had one season. The voice-artist has lent her tones to a host of films, TV shows and video games over the years. She has appeared in a number of TV shows such as Touched By an Angel, King of the Hill and N.C.I.S. Gabrielle married stockbroker Charles Isaacs in May 1992 and they have two daughters, Kelsey and Molly, who are now adults. She is also the president of SAG-AFTRA, an American trade union for film, TV and background performers. A horror injury while filming the TV movie Past Tense in 2006 caused Gabrielle's face to be partially paralysed for months, and she didn't go out in public for a year. Speaking to People Magazine in 2018, she explained: "This has been a real journey, and I'll probably be on meds for the rest of my life. But I don't look at myself as a victim. I'm blessed that I wasn't paralysed forever. The fact that I have this doesn't mean that I can't live my life."

Who is Beverly Hills 90210 star Tori Spelling's boyfriend, Ryan Cramer? The couple were spotted kissing in 2023 after she separated from husband Dean McDermott – and they seem to be back on

It's been a year since Beverly Hills 90210 star Tori Spelling, 51, filed for divorce from her husband Dean McDermott, 58, and she seems to have moved on for good. Months after separating from her ex – with whom she shares children Stella, Hattie, Liam, Finn, and Beau – in June 2023, Spelling was spotted kissing businessman Ryan Cramer on Halloween, according to People. 16 Throwback TV Shows From the 2000s to Re-Watch With Your Teen

Fact checked by Sarah Scott In the '80s, there was Square Pegs and A Different World. In the '90s, teens watched Beverly Hills 90210, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and Saved by the Bell. But ask any millennial and they'll tell you that the 2000s was the golden age of TV. Whether you were a Disney Channel kid or wished you lived in Newport with the cast of The O.C., there was a 2000s TV show made for you. Teen and tween television isn't just entertainment; it's a way for young people to see themselves represented onscreen. Some shows are more relatable and realistic than others (cough cough Gossip Girl), but watching characters go through ups and downs with friends, family, school, or dating can help kids deal with those same issues in their real life. While some aspects of 2000s TV shows haven't aged all that well, there's many great options to revisit with your kids. You can talk about the problematic moments and point out how things have changed, using the shows as a jumping-off point for important conversations. On the flipside, you can also discuss how those big life experiences of one's teenage years are universal, no matter the decade. Ahead, check out some of the best 2000s TV shows for tweens and teens. Ask any millennial about their favorite Friday night ABC show and they'll probably mention Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. In the series, which ran from the late '90s to the early 2000s, Melissa Joan Hart played Sabrina Spellman, who discovers she's a witch and has to navigate high school. Where to stream or buy: Paramount Plus, Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu Who it's best for: Tweens who love magic and fantasy Catch Keke Palmer in one of her earliest roles as True Jackson, a teenager who becomes vice president of a clothing company. What's more difficult to deal with: school or a high-powered corporate job? And how do you balance the two? Where to stream or buy: Paramount Plus, Prime Video Who it's best for: Aspiring fashionistas There's a reason fans were clamoring for a grown-up sequel to Lizzie McGuire. The series made Hilary Duff a superstar and its original fans still think fondly of the Disney sitcom, which was all about the junior high struggles of Lizzie and her friends (and her animated conscience). While the sequel got canned, you and your tween will love hanging out in Lizzie's world today. Where to stream or buy: Disney+ Who it's best for: Junior high-aged tweens, aspiring fashionistas The show that made Selena Gomez a superstar, Wizards of Waverly Place was a beloved Disney Channel sitcom about—you guessed it—a family of wizards living in New York City. In 2024, a sequel called Wizards Beyond Waverly Place hit Disney+, with David Henrie and Selena Gomez reprising their roles as the Russo siblings. Where to stream or buy: Disney+, Prime Video, Hulu Who it's best for: Tweens who wish they had magical powers and siblings That's So Raven, which ran on Disney Channel from 2003 to 2007, centered on Raven Baxter, a teenage girl who loved fashion and could see the future. Raven-Symoné is amazing in the titular role and the costumes are so much fun, but the show also dealt with big issues in a relatable and often humorous and thoughtful way. Where to stream or buy: Disney+, Hulu, Prime Video Who it's best for: Everyone! The breakout stars of Nick's All That starred in a movie together—the iconic millennial classic Good Burger—but they also had their own TV show, where they played fictional versions of themselves. It's fun to look back and see how funny both were at such a young age. Kids who only know Kenan as an SNL cast member can see where he got his start. Where to stream or buy: Paramount Plus, Prime Video Who it's best for: Young comedians Every modern generation has their version of Degrassi, the Canadian teen drama that has been airing in some format since 1987. (Never forget that Drake starred as Jimmy back in the mid-aughts!) It's about a group of high schoolers dealing with all the things that come with teenagerhood: friendships, romance, family struggles, and so much more. While some subjects may be a bit mature for tweens, it's a great launchpad for conversations about what they might encounter in a few years. Where to stream or buy: Tubi, Prime Video, Hulu, Max Who it's best for: Younger teens just beginning their high school journey OK, so Buffy the Vampire Slayer aired mostly throughout the late '90s, but it ended in 2003, so we say it counts! In the TV series, a revamped imagining of an '80s movie, Sarah Michelle Gellar plays the brave Buffy Summers, who saves the world from vampires and other supernatural creatures while also attending high school. Where to stream or buy: Tubi, Hulu, Disney+, Prime Video Who it's best for: Teens who love supernatural tales and scary movies One of the most popular teen shows of the 2000s, The O.C. was basically an overnight smash hit and defined a generation. Sure, it's soapy, but that's part of the fun! Plus, teen-centric soaps are a rite of passage, so revisit Ryan, Marissa, Seth, and Summer alongside your teenager. Where to stream or buy: Prime Video, Hulu, Disney+, Max Who it's best for: Teens who love Gossip Girl Another very popular teen soap, One Tree Hill aired for over a decade. Though the storylines changed over the years, it started as the story of two half-brothers in a small town in North Carolina. Like all teen dramas of the '00s, it got pretty dramatic, but once again—that's part of the fun! Underneath the melodrama, there are nuggets of relatability for your teen to connect with. Where to stream or buy: Hulu, Prime Video, Max, Disney+ Who it's best for: Teen athletes, teens who enjoyed The O.C. When Gossip Girl premiered in the late 2000s, everything changed. The NYC-set show was perfect for the era and became a classic for teens and twentysomethings. Though it ended in 2012, Gossip Girl is more beloved than ever for its dramatic plotlines, catty characters, and over-the-top wardrobe. Where to stream or buy: Max, Tubi, Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video Who it's best for: Super-connected social media fans Friday Night Lights is set in a small Texas town where football is everything. Yes, on the surface it's a sports show, but it's so much more than that. You'll get to love Coach Taylor and his wife Tami, the players, and the people of Dillon right from episode one. Where to stream or buy: Prime Video, Apple TV Who it's best for: Teen athletes In her first big role, Kristen Bell starred as the teen detective Veronica Mars. Teens will love her voice and sense of humor, as well as watching her investigate and crack mysteries in her California town. Where to stream or buy: Hulu, Prime Video, Disney+ Who it's best for: Future journalists or investigators Ah, the classic mother-daughter dramedy. Gilmore Girls is one of the most beloved 2000s TV shows and one many fans return to year after year, especially in the fall. Lorelai and Rory are mother and daughter, but they couldn't be more different; Lorelai is a free spirit and Rory is a straightlaced straight-A student. The show is about their relationship, but also about their friends and neighbors in the adorably cozy Stars Hollow. Where to stream or buy: Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Prime Video Who it's best for: Moms and daughters, cozy nights in Don't you wanna be on top? A whole generation of reality TV fans did on this Tyra Banks-led competition show about aspiring models. Watching Top Model can also open up dialogue about body acceptance and how things have changed (for the better!) since the show aired. Where to stream or buy: Hulu, Prime Video, Disney+ Who it's best for: Reality TV fans, aspiring models Ryan Murphy's Glee snuck in right at the tail end of the 2000s, premiering in 2009, but we'll let it sneak by for this list. It's still just as popular today, even though it ended in 2015! The students of McKinley High School deal with all the issues of teenagerhood—first love, breakups, body image—but they do it through their glee club and covers of some of the biggest songs ever. Just don't blame us if your kids start playing the soundtrack 24/7. Where to stream or buy: Hulu, Disney+ Who it's best for: Theater kids Read the original article on Parents
