In an interview during the airing of Beyond75: The GMA Anniversary Special over the weekend, Alden finally revealed the story behind the iconic 'dila' meme that continues to make waves online. "This is the chance for me to enlighten everyone about what's happening with that trend," he said when the meme was brought up. Asia's Multimedia Star revealed that his 'dila' photo was taken three or four years ago. "Matagal na 'yun, hindi siya recent. Then, nagulat na lang ako, all of a sudden, it became a trend sa TikTok and social media," he shared. Alden also admitted that he doesn't know exactly why it went viral, considering how long ago it was taken. The Stars on the Floor host added, "But whatever serves the pop culture, the Philippines and sa ikasasaya ng lahat, siyempre, support tayo dyan." After revealing the story behind it, Alden gamely recreated his viral 'dila,' which made the livestream hosts burst into laughter. Recently, Alden joined the fun by using an animated version of the viral meme as his Instagram profile photo. In a fun video, he took the trend to the next level by recreating his iconic 'dila' pose with varying levels of intensity to give his take on several Filipino dishes. ‘Beyond 75: The GMA Network 75th Anniversary Special' to air on July 12
GMA Network's diamond anniversary event, 'Beyond 75: The GMA Anniversary Special,' is set to make its television airing on July 12! According to Nelson Canlas' report on '24 Oras,' Friday, the event was filled with major milestone throwbacks and was graced by Kapuso personalities, including David Licauco. 'That moment na I stepped in GMA, dahil siyempre I was a, you know, like fresh graduate from college, and to be in that, you know, like building na malaki, and I knew na that was the real world. It was something for me,' David said. Derrick Monasterio said that his most important GMA milestone was meeting Elle Villanueva. 'Kasi 'yun 'yung pinaka-permanent na decision na gagawin mo, 'di ba? 'Yung pipiliin mo 'yung partner mo,' he said. 'Marami pa po akong gustong gawin. Marami pa akong gustong gawin at maraming-marami na ring ginawa ang GMA na tinupad 'yung mga pangarap ko,' Buboy Villar said. Beyond 75 fittingly serves as a tribute to GMA's 75 years of being Forever One with the Filipino - filled with concert-level performances and nostalgic throwbacks that celebrate the Network's legacy.
