Rajpal Yadav isn't afraid of Bollywood remakes falling short, says
New Delhi [India], May 31 (ANI): The ever-smiling king of comedy, Rajpal Yadav, best known for his iconic comic timing in films like 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa,' 'Chup Chup Ke,' and 'Bhagam Bhag', has shared his thoughts on the current Bollywood trend of remakes and sequels. Asked if he ever worries about sequels or remakes not living up to the original films, Yadav shared that he doesn't see any point in being scared. He added that every film is an opportunity -- for filmmakers, actors, and audiences; hence, cinema should bring fresh ideas regardless of whether it's a remake or an original movie. 'Darne se kya fayeda. Bana hi daali hai toh flop hojaegi, isse jyada kya hojaega. Paisa bhi lagta hai aur audience nayi film dekhne jaati hai aur abhineta ko bhi naya kirdaar jeene ka saubhagya milta hai. Toh cinema jab bhi banein, toh naya bane.' (What's the point of being scared? If it's already made, at worst it will flop -- what else can happen? It takes money, the audience goes to see a new film, and the actor gets to live a new character. So whenever cinema is made, it should be new.),' Yadav told ANI in an interview. Rajpal's take comes at a time when Bollywood is seeing a wave of sequels. Films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Hera Pheri 3, and Housefull 5 are lined up for release. Rajpal Yadav's journey in films began with a breakthrough role in a film by Ram Gopal Varma. Later, he became popular for his slapstick comedy roles. He acted in movies like 'Ek Aur Ek Gyarah,' 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi,' Bhagam Bhag, and many others. Next, the actor will be seen in 'Bhooth Bangla,' a horror-comedy directed by Priyadarshan, which stars Akshay Kumar. Although both had worked on several successful films individually before, Hera Pheri (2000) proved to be a defining moment in the Bollywood careers of actor Akshay Kumar and filmmaker Priyadarshan. Even after a quarter of a century, the comedy continues to enjoy a massive fan base. At a time when Hera Pheri 3, the third installment in the eponymous film franchise, is caught in a whirlpool of controversies following actor Paresh Rawal's exit from the project, an old interview with Priyadarshan has resurfaced and caught the attention of many. In it, he addresses a rumour that Akshay 'chopped off' his co-star John Abraham's scenes in the trio's blockbuster comedy Garam Masala (2005). 'Am I an idiot to let one of my actors make my film for me? This is nothing but a figment of a troublesome journalist's imagination. It may be some people's idea of publicity, not mine. I've been around for too long to let actors dictate to me. Akshay never showed the slightest inclination to invade John's territory. In fact, I've been in touch with John. Not once has he expressed any grievance against Akshay. So who are these people spreading these rumours?' the filmmaker asked during a 2005 conversation with Rediff. According to a report by Times Now, Paresh's legal team has stated that his concerns about the film's lack of preparedness were both valid and legitimate.

While today, Paresh Rawal is one of the most celebrated actors in the industry, luck has not been the same for him in his initial days. Paresh Rawal was born on May 30, 1955, to a Gujarati middle-class family. After this, he along with his family moved to Mumbai in the wake of a better lifestyle. In his college days, Paresh was focused on earning more money and making himself independent. Rawal took a job in a bank, however, Paresh quit the job in three days, as he couldn't. He said, 'I did this for 15 days. 15 days later when the doctor took my X-ray, he was shocked. The doctor asked me, 'How did this cementing happen?' He could see a white line forming. I was supposed to be discharged in 2-2.5 months, but I was discharged in 1.5 months. It was like magic.' In 1994, Paresh did Andaz Apna Apna, and people loved his performance. This turned out to be a gateway for Paresh to venture into comedy. One of his iconic characters which still remains among the audience is that of Maharashtrian garage owner, Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, in Priyadarshan's Hera Pheri. The character was loved to the core that till date fans make memes out of the role.
