NCLT rejects IRP bid to end SKIL Infra's insolvency process
Advt The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has dismissed an application filed by the interim resolution professional (IRP) of SKIL Infrastructure seeking withdrawal of the corporate insolvency resolution process (CIRP) against the listed infrastructure firm, promoted by brothers Bhavesh and Nikhil Gandhi, was admitted under the CIRP on an application filed by its financial creditor, Amluckie Investment Company "We are of the considered view that the withdrawal does not deserve to be allowed," an NCLT Mumbai division bench of judicial member Saji Kumar and technical member Anil Raj Chellan said in its order dated August 13. "The applicant/IRP is directed to constitute the committee of creditors (CoC) forthwith and conduct the process as per law."The move to exit the insolvency proceedings came after the company settled with its original financial creditor, Amluckie Investment. The company's IRP, through counsel Nausher Kohli, approached the tribunal to withdraw the CIRP against the the company's other financial creditors, including Bank of India, UCO Bank and Edelweiss Asset Reconstruction Company (ARC), objected to the withdrawal of the CIRP. The lenders informed the tribunal that the IRP has received total claims of ₹13,715.15 crore, of which ₹12,504.74 crore have been ARC, through counsel Rohan Agarwal, challenged the maintainability of the withdrawal application and argued that in February 2022 it had also approached the tribunal to admit SKIL Infrastructure under the that application was disposed of since the company was already admitted under the application filed by Amluckie Investment. The ARC also informed the tribunal that the IRP has confirmed admission of its claim of ₹1,294 of India informed the tribunal that it is one of the 19 lenders of Reliance Naval & Engineering (formerly Pipavav Defence & Offshore Engineering Company and Reliance Defence & Engineering), which is the principal borrower, with SKIL Infrastructure as its corporate guarantor. The lender argued that SKIL Infrastructure, being the promoter and corporate guarantor of the principal borrower, is liable for its claims to the extent of ₹908.26 crore.

Suspicion of extra-marital affair leads to 32-year-od's murder
Rajkot: In a crime allegedly driven by an extramarital affair, a 32-year-old man was stabbed to death by his wife's lover in Jasdan town of Rajkot. The Jasdan police arrested the assailant, Bhavesh Kukadiya, who stabbed Jeram Sadadiya to death while Jeram and his wife were asleep inside their house. Jeram was married to Surti for eight years, and the couple had a son and a daughter. Two years into the marriage, Surti started working in a catering service, and Bhavesh was her co-worker. Police said that Jeram began suspecting an affair between the two. He warned both to cut ties, which led to frequent altercations between the couple. Surti would often leave for her maternal home after disputes and most recently returned on the eve of June 27. On the night of July 14, Bhavesh reportedly came to Jeram's house and asked about his whereabouts. He left after Jeram's sister, Daya, told him not to enter. Later, Jeram's daughter, Payal, informed the family that Bhavesh had been talking in the village about stabbing her father. Surti confirmed during police questioning that she and Jeram were asleep when Bhavesh entered their room with a knife. He allegedly stabbed Jeram twice. During the scuffle, he fled the scene. Jasdan police said Bhavesh has prior charges under the Prohibition Act.

The autorickshaw driver was not only assaulted but also forced to apologise to a passenger with whom he had refused to speak in Marathi VASAI: Days after a video showing an autorickshaw driver's refusal to converse in Marathi had gone viral, the driver was traced and assaulted by a group of men, allegedly from Shiv Sena (UBT), Saturday afternoon. A case of rioting has been filed against at least eight people. The rickshaw driver, Raju Patwa who plies his vehicle from Virar (east) autorickshaw stand, had in the viral video defiantly said that he would speak only Bhojpuri and Hindi, and would not speak Marathi. On Saturday, not only was the autorickshaw driver assaulted but he was also forced to apologise to a passenger to whom he had refused to speak Marathi. In a fresh video of Saturday, the rickshaw driver is seen apologising for his act, hands joined, while a group of men rain blows on him. Last week, the passenger, identified only as Bhavesh, was on his way to Virar station to drop off a relative when an autorickshaw brushed past him. Bhavesh told the driver in Marathi to be careful. The rickshaw driver responded in Hindi, saying he would "not speak Marathi" but would converse only in Hindi.
