Same name as sanctioned terrorist: Bilawal Bhutto defends LeT commander at UN event

From the stage of the United Nations, former Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto once again defended Hafiz Abdur Rauf, the man seen leading funeral prayers after India's airstrikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir under Operation Sindoor, claiming he is not a terrorist. Repeating a line earlier pushed by Pakistan's military media wing, ISPR (Inter-Services Public Relations), Bhutto argued that Rauf merely shares a name with a sanctioned delegation (India's global outreach) goes around violently shoving this picture in everybody's face. They say 'Look, this guy is a terrorist'. The fact of the matter is that this man is not a terrorist. He happens to have a name similar to one of the sanctioned people, but he's not," Bilawal said at the UN briefing, referring to India presenting evidence of Rauf's presence at the ISPR's own evidence has contradicted this claim. A CNIC (computerised national identity card) shared by the ISPR showed a date of birth and identification number that exactly match those on the US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) list of designated global terrorists. The CNIC also confirms Rauf is affiliated with the Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML), the successor to MML - both parties designated by the US as fronts of the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba on 2 April US Treasury had earlier stated: "Few individuals are more integral to LeT's fundraising than Hafiz Abdur Rauf." Despite the evidence, Bilawal maintained his position, echoing ISPR's portrayal of Rauf as a "local cleric" and "family man". The Pakistani military had earlier tried to whitewash Rauf's presence at the funeral of LeT operatives killed in the strikes, claiming he was simply a party the same UN event, Bilawal also appeared to soften his stance on India by calling for cooperation between RAW and ISI to curb terrorism."Pakistan would still like to cooperate with India to combat terrorism," he said, suggesting a "dispute resolution mechanism" and asserting, "I am completely confident that if ISI and RAW sat down to work together, we'd see a significant drop in terrorism on both sides."Bhutto further claimed that 1.5 to 1.7 billion people in South Asia should not be left at the mercy of non-state actors, warning against the risk of war between nuclear powers triggered by terrorist an interaction with the Pakistani community in New York, Bhutto made a provocative remark, claiming that Pakistan has mastered the art of asserted that if India genuinely wants to combat terrorism, it should take lessons from Pakistan's intelligence agency, the ISI. "We have learnt how to deal with terrorism. We are experts. India should come and learn from the ISI how to fight it," Bhutto Pakistan continues to face backlash for attempting to mislead the international community regarding the presence of a US-designated terrorist at the funeral in Muridke, a known LeT evidence shared by India, including by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, clearly showed Hafiz Abdur Rauf leading the prayers, with uniformed Pakistani Army and police officers in attendance."These are not clerics or civilians - they are designated terrorists and those who support them," Misri had earlier said, rebutting Pakistan's also drew criticism during the UN interaction for alleging that Indian Muslims were being demonised in the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians. When questioned by a journalist, who noted that Indian Army briefings were led by Muslim officers themselves, Bilawal was visibly unsettled and admitted, "As far as the operations are concerned, you're absolutely right."Must Watch

Pak PM Shehbaz Sharif now wants Trump to facilitate dialogue with India

Washington, DC [US], June 5 (ANI): Faced with growing global isolation on the issue of terrorism, Pakistan is making an all-out effort to seek the help of US President Donald Trump to try and achieve peace with Indian Addressing an event at the US Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised Trump for his role in helping de-escalate the situation with India and urged Washington to facilitate a comprehensive dialogue between the two nuclear neighbours. The Pakistan PM was echoing former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who had claimed that Trump 'deserves credit' for helping facilitate the cessation of hostilities between the two nations. 'On 10 different occasions, he has taken credit for facilitating the ceasefire between India and Pakistan -- and rightly so. He deserves that credit because it was his efforts that helped make the ceasefire possible. So, if the US is willing to help Pakistan in maintaining this ceasefire, it is reasonable to expect that an American role in arranging a comprehensive dialogue would also be beneficial for us,' Bhutto said. India has publicly denied that President Trump played any role in the ceasefire agreement and consistently rejects third-party mediation on bilateral issues. 'I think the US has understood for some time now that India has a very clear position that there will be no talks with a gun pointed at our head... The problem is that we will not deal with people who are pointing a gun at our heads. I mean frankly, if your neighbour unleashes his Rottweilers* to bite your children and in fact to do worse to your children, and then says, let's talk. You think he's going to talk to him until he either unleashes those Rottweilers* or locks them up in a kennel or puts them to sleep. It's as simple as that. You're not going to talk to people who are pointing guns at your temples. It's not going to happen,' said Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who is leading the all-party delegation to the United States. The Indian delegation also slammed the Pakistani side for making claims that it was as much a victim of terrorism as India was. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said, 'This (Pakistan) delegation is going around saying we are also victims of terrorism, we have lost more lives to terrorism than India has. We turn around and say- Whose fault is that? As Hillary Clinton famously said 10 years ago. You can't breed vipers in your backyard and expect them to bite only your why they (Pakistan) are now getting terrorists attacked by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, but who created the Taliban from which the Tehrik-i-Taliban broke off? We all know the answer to that, so let Pakistan look inside it and let it do some serious interior reflection before it goes around pleading innocence and deniability and everything else.' Echoing that sentiment, BJP MP Tejasvi Surya said, 'Bhutto has been calling his delegation a peace delegation, and it is quite ironic that the Pakistani delegation is speaking the language of peace. It's like the Devil quoting from the scriptures. For a country that is trying to create fake heroes by promoting failed generals to field marshal, they don't know what true leaders look like. Pakistan has been surviving on cheap Chinese imports, including military hardware, which spectacularly failed on the battlefield.. So perhaps it is hard for them to digest high-quality, high-calibre military hardware as well as strong democratic leadership on the other side of the border.' Even as Bhutto and his copycat delegation try to make a pitch for peace, India's anti-terror stand has already been endorsed by House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast. 'The world was holding its breath, watching what had taken place, both in disgust and also in anticipation of the response. When you are attacked, you have no choice but to respond. The world does not allow anything else, and those responses needed to take place. We have a great friendship and partnership between our nations, and we see nothing but growth and expansion in the future,' Mast told reporters in Washington, DC. (ANI)

It's like the Devil quoting from the scriptures: BJP MP Tejasvi Surya on Bilawal Bhutto-led delegation in US

Washington DC: BJP MP Tejasvi Surya slammed Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and called Pakistan's delegation to New York "the Devil quoting from the scriptures." Speaking to the media at the Indian Embassy in Washington, DC, BJP MP Surya said, "Bhutto has been calling his delegation a peace delegation, and it is quite ironic that the Pakistdelegation is speaking the language of peace. It's like the Devil quoting from the scriptures. For a country that is trying to create fake heroes by promoting failed generals to field marshal, they don't know what true leaders look like." Comparing India's military equipment to Pakistan's, he said that the latter is surviving on "cheap Chinese imports." He added that it is hard for Pakistan to digest high-quality military hardware and democratic leadership in India."Pakistan has been surviving on cheap Chinese imports, including military hardware, which spectacularly failed on the battlefield. So perhaps it is hard for them to digest high-quality, high-calibre military hardware as well as strong democratic leadership on the other side of the border..." he presented a contrast between Indians and Pakistanis in the USA. He named Ramzi Yousef, the man behind the 1993 World Trade Centre bomb and David Coleman Headley, charged with conspiracy in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, to present his case against Pakistan. "I would just want to take this opportunity to give you 5 names from India and Pakistan, which clearly demonstrate what India stands for and what Pakistan stands for in America. Ramzi Yousef, 1993 World Trade Centre bomb. David Coleman Headley had made 26/11 charges of conspiracy... Now, 5 Indian names - Indra Nooyi, Sundar Pichai, Ajay Bagga, Satya Nadella, Kash Patel...- I don't have to give an explanation on an introduction to any of these. This is as stark a difference as it can be between these two countries. So Mr. Bhutto's two-day adventure here today, a two-day trip here, will not wash away this proven track record of Pakistan," the BJP MP Bhutto Zardari led a Pakistani delegation in New York, and addressing a press conference at the UN Headquarters in New York, he called India's Operation Sindoor "illegal strikes." He said that Pakistan was only acting in self-defence, as reported by Tejasvi Surya is a part of India's delegation to the USA led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor. The delegation arrived in the US on Wednesday. The delegation includes Shambhavi Chaudhary (Lok Janshakti Party), Sarfaraz Ahmed (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha), G M Harish Balayogi (Telugu Desam Party), Shashank Mani Tripathi, Tejasvi Surya, Bhubaneswar Kalita (all from BJP), Mallikarjun Devda (Shiv Sena), former Indian Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu, and Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora.

Tejasvi Surya blasts Bhutto in US: India gives tech titans, Pak terrorists

In a fiery rebuke aimed squarely at Pakistan's former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, BJP MP Tejasvi Surya delivered a no-holds-barred address in the United States, calling out Pakistan's global reputation and military dependency while asserting India's rising global remarks were in direct response to Bhutto's recent criticisms of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 'This is as stark a difference as it can be between these two countries,' Surya said. Surya invoked a sharp contrast in global reputations, rattling off five names from each country to illustrate his Yousef, 1993 World Trade Centre bomb. David Coleman Headley -- charged for 26/11 conspiracy. These are names linked with Pakistan,' he said. 'Now, five Indian names: Indra Nooyi, Sundar Pichai, Ajay Banga, Satya Nadella, Kash Patel I don't even need to introduce them. That's the difference between India and Pakistan in America. So Mr. Bhutto's two-day adventure here today, a two-day trip here, will not wash away this proven track record of Pakistan."#WATCH | Washington, DC | "Pakistan has been surviving on cheap Chinese imports, including their military hardware, which spectacularly failed on the battlefield... In the last few days in the countries that we visited, including today, there is absolutely no sympathy towards ANI (@ANI) June 4, 2025 Surya didn't stop there. He accused Pakistan of playing the victim abroad while arming itself with low-grade Chinese weaponry. 'Pakistan has been surviving on cheap Chinese imports, including their military hardware, which spectacularly failed on the battlefield,' he said. 'Unlike Pakistan, whose bulk of military hardware -- 81 per cent -- comes from China, India's defence imports are diverse and growing indigenously.'advertisementHe went on to emphasise India's expanding strategic ties: 'We have military hardware that we purchased from the United States, from France, from Israel. We have practical and strategic partnerships.'Surya dismissed Bhutto's attempt to portray Pakistan as a peace-seeking nation, saying: 'It's like the Devil quoting from the scriptures. For a country that is trying to create fake heroes by promoting field generals to field marshal, they don't know what true leaders look like.'Surya also claimed that in all recent diplomatic meetings during their visit, there was 'absolutely no sympathy towards the Pakistani cause' and 'unequivocal support' for India's remarks come as India ramps up its diplomatic outreach in Washington amid growing global attention to South Asian security, regional power balance, and cross-border inputs from ANIMust Watch
