Kamal's oops! moment… Kamal Haasan should know that by his comments he has deeply hurt the sentiments of Kannada speaking public. He commits faux pas often. Previously he had made derogatory statements in Big Boss reality show. Hassan has a habit of slip of tongue and he goofs up in giving speeches in public and in reality shows. He often uses cuss words , derogatory statements and unparliamentary language in his reality shows. Due to this habit, he has even faced the rage of the then Chief Minister . Previously also he has done a blunder by naming the name of sexual assault victim and even compared her with ' Draupadi'. So, it will be better to Kamal Hassan to talk less in public speeches and in reality shows. Zakir Hussain, Kazipet II Kamal Haasan's 'Tamil gave birth to Kannada' has stirred up a hornet's nest. Now, the people of Karnataka will have their pound of flesh, no less. Benjamin Franklin had rightly said -- 'A slip of the foot you may soon recover, but a slip of the tongue you may never get over.' This is a classic case of speaking before thinking. Confucius was right when he said -- 'The tongue must be heavy indeed, because so few people can hold it.' Avinash Godboley, Dewas (MP) Bollywood unites entire nation Apropos the article 'Stalwarts from the world of entertainment...' as human beings evolved their inner emotions and desires needed some sort of self- expression, and all the fine arts are nothing but a desire of the human race to project itself. Theatre was the first entertainment in the olden ages and only after the motion pictures were introduced and developed did the film industry in India begin to prosper. Every region has its own film industry but Bollywood or the Hindi film industry towers above them all because of its reach. The fame of Bollywood stars has touched many other nations too and it is gratifying to note that even in places in Europe; the likes of Shah Rukh Khan has thousands of eager fans awaiting his films release. Bollywood is also the single largest factor that unites the whole nation; even though in recent times the Southern films are finding audiences in the North too. The likes of Satyajit Ray, Dilip Kumar , Lata Mangeshkar and others have enriched the lives of not only Indians but internationally too. Anthony Henriques, Mumbai Develop infrastructure for film industry in AP The controversy over the bandh of cinema hall in AP has become a talking point today as Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan's 'Hara Hara Veeramallu' is going to be released in the theatres from June 12 across the Telugu-speaking cinema halls. As it is being prominent person's film both in politics and Tollywood naturally the issue got focused among public. In the past both politicians and the people in the entertainment field helped each other in times of troubles . The prominent figures and yesteryears heroes helped the government by mobilizing funds from the public as well as from their own pockets especially disasters like cyclone and famine. With that mutual cooperation the Tollywood base was shifted to Hyderabad. Meanwhile the state was bifurcated. As result of it Tollywood is in typical condition in which shootings in TS and marketing in AP. Thus, it is time for AP government which has roots in Tollywood must develop infrastructure for shootings in AP particularly in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati. At the same time government must give equal important to big budget films as well as small budget films. Similarly the government ponder over how to make entertainment to common people by focusing on facilities, ticket prices , prices of eatables in the theatre premises. St Andrews takeaway boss on trial over sexual assault allegations

A teenage girl told a court she feared being raped by a St Andrews takeaway boss who she alleges sexually assaulted her. The17-year-old claimed she had been left 'ruined' by the actions of Ugur 'Jack' Emre, owner of the Fife town's Big Boss 'party' restaurant and Little Boss ice-cream shop. Emre, 42, is on trial at Dundee Sheriff Court in connection with alleged sexual assaults, making sexual remarks and offences relating to the sale of alcohol and vapes. Then aged 16, the girl alleged she was attacked by Emre on separate occasions in August 2024. She told the court how she was sitting on the stairs in Little Boss when Emre, who had been sitting in front of her, moved behind her. 'I felt his hands on my shoulders,' the girl told fiscal depute Michael Robertson. 'He was rubbing my shoulders, down my back, on my chest and in my bra. 'He moved them up to my neck and then my face. His fingers were on my lips.' Mr Robertson asked: 'Did Jack say anything during this?' The girl replied: 'He asked if I had ever had sex before. I said no. 'I froze and I couldn't speak. He asked if I felt relaxed. He asked if I was horny. 'I was staring at the wall crying. He asked if I wanted to go downstairs.' When questioned about what she understood that to mean, she told the prosecutor: 'I thought he was going to do something else. 'I thought he was going to rape me.' The teenager described running out of Little Boss before being comforted by a friend and vomiting in the toilet at Big Boss. She alleged Emre grabbed her face and tried to kiss her in a separate incident, which she said 'terrified' her. The court heard claims the teenager discussed her experiences with friends over social media. It was alleged by the girl Emre sexually assaulted her again in Little Boss by trying to kiss her. She said: 'He put his hands on my face. He told me that he wants to be with me. 'He grabbed my face and tried to pull me in. I pushed him off me and said 'no, I'm 16'.' The girl described making a TikTok some time later about Emre's alleged behaviour towards her. Defence counsel Murray Macara KC questioned the discussions the girl had with her friends on social media about Emre. He said in cross-examination: 'Have you and your friends got together to tell a story and tell lies about Jack?' She replied: 'No'. Mr Macara suggested the incident on the stairs 'simply did not happen' and his client did not touch her on the face or body, to which the girl retorted: 'Yes, he did.' Emre, of Market Street, denies five sexual offence charges, five licensing allegations and two allegations relating to working time regulations. The trial before Sheriff Gregor Murray will continue in August.

Compete to be American! US eyes reality show for immigrant citizenship

In what sounds like a plot straight out of a television drama, the United States (US) may soon have a reality show where immigrants compete in patriotic and cultural challenges for the ultimate prize: American citizenship. The concept, titled 'The American', is being reviewed by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as part of a broader push for 'creative outreach' on immigration. The show's format draws strong parallels with reality hits like Big Boss, with contestants living together and competing across a series of tasks meant to reflect American values, traditions, and history. The pitch has gained traction within the Trump administration, which has embraced unconventional methods to highlight its immigration agenda. A DHS spokesperson confirmed that such 'out-of-the-box pitches,' especially those that celebrate what it means to be an American,' remain a priority. The idea The show was pitched by Rob Worsoff, a seasoned reality TV producer known for shows like Duck Dynasty and The Millionaire Matchmaker. A Canadian immigrant himself, Worsoff said the idea came to him while he was going through the naturalisation process in the US. 'It's not mean-spirited. Instead, 'The American' is a celebration of what it means to be American... at a time when our morale is at an all-time low,' Worsoff wrote on Facebook. The proposed format would see immigrant contestants travel across the United States, participating in 'stereotypically American' challenges. These include collecting gold from a mine in San Francisco, assembling a Model T in Detroit, delivering mail on horseback in Kansas, and even assembling a rocket. Other segments would test civic knowledge through trivia and tasks based on American customs. 'We need to be reminded of how proud and how much of an honour it is to be American,' Worsoff told CNN. He also stressed that contestants who don't win should not be penalised. What the Homeland Security says According to Tricia McLaughlin, spokesperson for the DHS, the idea is currently under review by Kristi Noem, secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. 'It's important to revive civic duty,' McLaughlin told The New York Times, describing the potential series as a 'celebration of being an American.' Trump's immigration crackdown This development comes amid a strict immigration crackdown under US President Donald Trump's second term, during which over 271,000 individuals have been deported—the highest number in nearly a decade. Earlier this month, the administration launched a controversial self-deportation programme, offering undocumented migrants free flight tickets and $1,000 in cash to leave the US voluntarily. However, Trump has softened his tone in some instances, saying that 'good' individuals could be allowed back through legal routes. 'Good people will be taken back legally,' he recently said, positioning the move as part of a merit-based immigration policy. Trump's administration has also previously shown interest in media-driven immigration narratives. In 2017, he granted access to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations for a documentary series titled Immigration Nation.
