3x Super Bowl champion hoping to earn spot on Cowboys as veteran sage
Darius Harris has had a fortuitous run as an NFL linebacker. His career started in the best place imaginable, signing with Kansas City out of college at the beginning of the Patrick Mahomes era. He brought his experiences to Dallas last season, hoping to find a foothold in a transitioning defense that was suffering through some injury attrition at the time. Now he's back in Dallas for his first full offseason, under a new coaching regime, hoping to earn a spot on the 53-man roster. The club made several offseason acquisitions at the linebacker position, but despite the fact Harris hasn't seen much on-the-field action, he's survived some initial roster shuffles in order to make his way with the club to Oxnard for training camp. He was part of the team's next trip to the Big Game, and their subsequent back-to-back wins in 2022 and 2023. While he wasn't a major part of those teams, starting just six games across those four seasons, he does know what its like to be in a consistent winning environment, and if he's able to relay that to his teammates in Dallas, that can be seen as a valuable asset. When it comes to playing time, there's a strong contingent ahead of him. The team traded for Kenneth Murray, a former first-round pick, and signed Jack Sanborn who is intimately familiar with new defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus. Second-year linebacker Marist Liufau has been impressive, and fourth-year LB Damone Clark has made a huge leap under Eberflus' direction. It also appears the Cowboys' best LB, DeMarvion Overshown, is once again showing Wolverine-like recovery ability and has a chance to contribute to the team sooner than midseason. That leaves limited opportunity for others, and with Dallas trading up in the fifth round for Shemar James, Harris has tough terrain to navigate in order to make the 53-man roster. Steelers odds to win Super Bowl: How Jalen Ramsey trade affects outlook
The Pittsburgh Steelers made a blockbuster deal Monday to acquire cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith from the Miami Dolphins. But did it help the Steelers' Super Bowl odds ahead of the 2025 season? It depends on where you look. Super Bowl odds for next year's Big Game are constantly moving and shifting through the offseason as teams acquire players in free agency or via trade. Sportsbooks update their odds to reflect how things change, so there has been plenty of movement in certain teams' betting odds since they opened after Super Bowl 59 ended. But every sportsbook has a different method of calculating odds, so some of them take a blockbuster trade like Monday's as more impactful than others. Here's how various books' odds shifted after the Ramsey-for-Minkah Fitzpatrick trade: Steelers Super Bowl odds after Jalen Ramsey trade Two of the most popular sportsbooks have shifted their Super Bowl odds for the Steelers in the aftermath of the team's trade for the three-time All-Pro cornerback. Ten minutes after news of the trade initially broke, FanDuel Sportsbook posted on social media that the Steelers' Super Bowl odds had improved from +4700 (47-to-1 odds) to +4400 (44-to-1). They also noted that the move pushed Pittsburgh up into a tie with the Chicago Bears for 16th-best odds, but the Bears have since moved to +4300. Similarly, BetMGM experienced a shift in odds that pushed the Steelers' Super Bowl odds up to +4000. After signing quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Pittsburgh's odds were +4500 at BetMGM, tied for 17th-best odds with the Dallas Cowboys. Now that Ramsey has joined the secondary, the Steelers are in a tie for 15th-best odds with the Bears and Denver Broncos. However, not every sportsbook shifted its odds after the trade. DraftKings posted on social media that the blockbuster trade did not push the book to move its Super Bowl odds for Pittsburgh. According to the post, the Steelers owned +3500 odds to win next year's championship before the trade, and those odds remain the same as of the time of writing (early Sunday afternoon).
