80% of Call Of Duty players more excited for Battlefield 6 than Black Ops 7
An overwhelming majority of Call Of Duty players have voiced their enthusiasm for Battlefield 6 over Black Ops 7, but will it translate to actual success? Battlefield may have never matched the juggernaut sales of Activision's Call Of Duty, but there was a time when both games were seen as very close rivals. However, things have taken a sour turn for EA's shooter over the last decade or so, with 2021's Battlefield 2042, and its predecessor Battlefield 5, both failing to live up to sales expectations. Nevertheless, EA seems determined to make Battlefield 6 a success, with four studios – DICE, Motive, Criterion, and Ripple Effect – all working under the 'Battlefield Studios' umbrella to put the franchise back on the map. Whether the gamble of investing all those resources will pay off remains to be seen, but based on a poll, it seems EA has already won over hardcore Call Of Duty players, in part thanks to all the leaked videos. A poll conducted by prominent Call Of Duty fan account ModernWarzone asked its 922,000 followers whether they were more excited for Battlefield 6 or the next Call Of Duty title Black Ops 7, and the results were pretty surprising. After 31,417 votes, Battlefield 6 won the poll with 80.5% of the vote, leaving Black Ops 7 with only 19.5%. It's an overwhelming landslide, especially considering it's through a Call Of Duty fan account. For starters, we barely know anything about it (a full reveal is set for Gamescom in August), but considering it's the second Black Ops game in a row, there's a sense we already know exactly what to expect. 'It's essentially Black Ops 6, but with a new number,' one fan wrote. 'AKA same s*** different day.' There's a sense Battlefield 6 could tap into those looking for a purist approach to strategic warfare too, at a time when Call Of Duty is often unfavourably compared to Fortnite, for all its zany Seth Rogen skins and increasingly gross microtransactions. '[Battlefield 6] at least has the chance to be something new and fresh,' another X user added in response. It seems enthusiasm for Battlefield 6 goes beyond this poll too. According to a LinkedIn post from Alinea Analytics CEO Rickard Linder, Battlefield 6 racked up nearly 500,000 wishlists over the weekend on Steam, following the game's debut trailer. The trailer itself has hit over 7.6 million views and while it is much smaller than the 40 million views for the Black Ops 7 teaser, it's certainly a sizeable amount. More Trending The big question is whether, with this positive momentum, Battlefield 6 will be able to stick the landing. The last entry, Battlefield 2042, was lambasted by fans over its bugs and lack of modes at launch, from which it never recovered. If leaks are to be believed, Battlefield 6 is set to launch on October 10, ahead of Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7. The latter is rumoured to be launching in November, so EA's shooter may have a whole month to gain some early traction. Of course, it's very unlikely Battlefield 6 will come close to the sales of Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 – the series has been consistently successful for way too long to be suddenly overtaken. But if Battlefield 6 can just be successful enough, the momentum may be on its side. Beyond the single-player and multiplayer, which is set to be showcased this week, Battlefield 6 is also rumoured to be getting a battle royale mode akin to Call Of Duty Warzone, which might be launching next year based on a new leak. Battlefield 6 trailer countdown, release time and everything we know so far
It's official – we're getting our first look at Battlefield 6 this week with the release of the game's debut trailer. Find out when you can watch the Battlefield 6 trailer right here The much-anticipated return of the Battlefield series is on the horizon, with fans eagerly awaiting the first official trailer for this year's game, set to be unveiled on Tuesday, July 24. Battlefield enthusiasts are on tenterhooks for the Battlefield 6 trailer, which carries the weight of expectation following the disappointment of 2021's Battlefield 2042 – a title that failed to impress and marked the last face-off between Battlefield and Call of Duty. The prospect of Black Ops 7 clashing with Battlefield 6 promises to stir up some nostalgic excitement in the gaming community this year. Regrettably, the series has been on a downward trajectory, with recent instalments prior to Battlefield 2042 garnering lukewarm to poor critiques on Metacritic. On a personal note, I reckon Battlefield 3 was the last truly solid entry, and I've given up hoping for a revival of Bad Company, especially since we haven't seen a new addition since Battlefield: Bad Company 2 in 2010. While concrete details around Battlefield 6 are scarce, an open beta has been confirmed by the game's official Twitter feed, teasing that "Starting at Open Beta players can choose official playlists with Signature Weapons locked to class, or not". In a bold move, Battlefield Labs – the closed testing ground for Battlefield 6 – broke away from the traditional locked weapons system, which ensures players stick to their roles, opting instead for a more anarchic approach where any class can wield any weapon they fancy. In a bid to satisfy traditionalists, it launched Signature Weapons and traits, with a Reddit post from May providing more insight. Essentially, there are passive, class-specific traits, while certain classes will gain a class perk when using a weapon typically associated with that class – though anyone can use it. For instance, a Recon class player wielding a sniper rifle will be able to hold their breath (and stabilise their aim) for longer than an Assault class player using the same rifle. Despite players expressing their disapproval in the comments, it appears this overhauled class system will feature in the Battlefield 6 open beta. As for the open beta's launch date, the EA App disclosed the build date as Monday, August 4 (via Reddit), so we might see it go live sometime in August. We'll undoubtedly learn more tomorrow following (or during) the official Battlefield 6 trailer release, and here's precisely when that happens. Black Ops 7 Perhaps the future where all big games are $80 is not so nigh after all. In a surprising move, Microsoft has just announced that it will reverse course and no longer price its fall selection of games at $80. The Outer Worlds 2 pricing itself at $80 was eye-rolling at the time, as the series may be good, but it's a nascent franchise and not exactly Elder Scrolls or Fallout in terms of demanding such a premium. Microsoft says 'our full priced holiday releases,' plural, and you might know what the next question is going to be: What about Call of Duty? Microsoft never announced a price for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 when it was revealed, nor have they opened up pre-orders. But it stands to reason that they would not make this statement about 'full-priced holiday releases' and not include Black Ops in that selection. This is significant because it goes past the idea that it's just Outer Worlds, a far, far smaller franchise getting this cut, but Call of Duty, one of the biggest properties in the world, and one that probably could command an $80 price. But it seems Microsoft doesn't want to go there. They don't want to go there yet. They're just talking about the rest of 2025, and after that? It's anyone's guess. Yes, we've started to see more $80 games crop up, sparked by Mario Kart World going first, but it is not yet industry 'standard.' This fall's Ghost of Yotei from PlayStation, for instance, a big launch for a pretty big franchise, remains $70. Microsoft has enough pricing problems as it is. They have recently jacked up prices of all its hardware to absurd levels, making Series S consoles cost more than PS5s and Xbox Series X's cost more than PS5 Pros in some instances. But yet again this is Microsoft waffling and seemingly to admit to yet another mistake in a series of many mistakes and instances of backtracking we've seen from the brand. Black Ops 7 leak hints omni-directional movement is about to level up again
A new Call of Duty Black Ops 7 leak has seemingly revealed that wingsuits are set to make a return in the hugely anticipated shooter, in a new 20v20 mode called Skirmish. Black Ops 7 is eagerly awaited, but a recent leak suggests some significant new additions to the series' multi-directional movement arsenal. The unveiling of Black Ops 7 during this year's Summer showcase period was unexpected, not because we weren't anticipating a new Call of Duty game, but due to the trailer being exceptionally well-crafted, hinting at a mind-boggling adventure unlike anything we've seen in the franchise before. It was quite startling, but it successfully stirred up excitement for the next chapter of the thought-provoking series. However, it appears there's more out there than Activision might prefer. With the expectation of a delayed Season 4 Reloaded leaving players without the information they crave, they're eager for any minor detail they can get their hands on – and this could have caused a lot of problems for Activision, as sharp-eyed players have noticed a mistake that the series has made. It seems Call of Duty has inadvertently leaked a major aspect of its gameplay. New images from Black Ops 7 have emerged, showcasing mechanical armed dogs and highly advanced soldier suits, but what players are most intrigued by is a new mode called Skirmish, which boasts an incredibly unique set of rules. Time to take flight CharlieIntel and ModernWarzone have dropped a bombshell with reports of an accidental leak caused by a blunder on the Xbox app, which inadvertently broadcast confidential details about Black Ops 7 to all app users. According to the leaked message, players can look forward to Skirmish, an all-new 20v20 mode on a sizeable map, where the goal is to "Use your wingsuit to flank and reach objectives before your enemy. The first team to reach the score limit wins!". Beyond that, another gameplay mode dubbed Overload focuses on battling for control over an EMP device, yet it's the comeback of wingsuits that's snagging headlines. Wingsuits haven't swooped into the Call of Duty battlegrounds since Blackout in Black Ops 4, and considering the significant emphasis placed on a groundbreaking omni-directional movement system in Black Ops 6, wingsuits portend a revolution in free-moving combat strategy. The reveal throws up tantalising teasers as to what we might anticipate from Black Ops 7, particularly how it will evolve gameplay-wise. Past iterations, such as the incremental tweaks seen between Modern Warfare 2 and 3, make this news all the more thrilling – it hints at possibly bigger leaps in evolution. We'll need patience before any more reveals are offered, but for those keen on taking to the skies, this leak is remarkably promising.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 leak reveals new modes and screenshots via Xbox app
New details have emerged around Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7, including two brand new modes and a hint at the new movement system. Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 was officially announced during the Xbox showcase earlier this month, and while we know some details about the sequel, it's unclear what sets this entry apart from all its predecessors. Developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, Black Ops 7 is a story sequel to 2012's Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2. The campaign is set in 2035 and follows a team of agents led by David Mason and, as usual, this sits alongside the usual multiplayer and round-based Zombies modes. However, a couple of new additions to the multiplayer suite have since been leaked via the Call Of Duty Xbox app, along with a potential tease towards the game's movement mechanic. According to CharlieIntel, an internal developer-only Black Ops 7 playtest was scheduled to take place this weekend, which 'accidentally pushed the message of the day to everyone' on Xbox via the Call Of Duty app. This message included several screenshots which highlighted two new modes. The first is called Overload, which is described as a team-based 6v6 mode where players 'fight to control a neutral EMP device that must be delivered to the enemy HQ for score'. In other words, it sounds like a reverse spin on Capture The Flag. The second mode is a 20v20 mode called Skirmish, where players complete objectives on a large map in a similar vein to 32v32 mode Ground War. 'Capture points of interest, destroy payloads, and transmit valuable data to score,' the description reads. 'Use your wingsuit to flank and reach objectives before your enemy. More Trending Earlier this month, Activision confirmed there will be no wall-running or jetpacks in Black Ops 7, as it is set 30 years prior to Black Ops 3. However, Stephanie Snowdon, Activision's senior director of communications, did say it will feature 'an evolution of omni-movement' from Black Ops 6. While it's unclear what this evolution will be, some players have spotted what looks like an exosuit of some kind in the background of one of the leaked screenshots. While it could be a cosmetic item, reliable Call Of Duty leaker TheGhostOfHope has claimed the sequel will feature 'wall jumping' instead of wall running, so it could be related.
