Max launches in Turkey, rebranding BluTV with expanded content

Existing subscribers in Turkey can sign in to the new platform. Warner Bros. Discovery has launched its premium international streaming service Max in Turkey, replacing BluTV and introducing a significantly expanded library of content. The launch marks a major milestone in WBD's regional strategy, positioning Max as a key player in Turkey's growing digital entertainment market. Current BluTV subscribers can now access Max with their existing credentials, gaining access to thousands of additional hours of content. The platform blends global favourites from Warner Bros. Pictures, HBO Originals, DC Studios and more, with a stronger focus on local storytelling. At a launch event, WBD unveiled three new Turkish Max Originals: Anatomy of Chaos, Jasmin and Feride. The company also offered first looks at previously announced Turkish productions including First Göktürk, Prince Season Three and Çekiç ve Gül: Bir Behzat Ç. Hikayesi Season Three. All new Turkish originals and returning local series will carry the Max Originals brand and, where rights permit, will be released globally—highlighting WBD's commitment to showcasing Turkish talent on the international stage. Jamie Cooke, General Manager CEE, MENA and Türkiye at Warner Bros. Discovery, said: 'Bringing Max to Turkey is a key milestone for Warner Bros. Discovery and marks the completion of the successful integration of BluTV into our portfolio. The enhanced platform enables us to strengthen our footprint in the region as we offer an even broader selection of world-class entertainment. Turkey has an incredibly rich storytelling heritage, and with Max, we are delivering a premium streaming experience that combines the best of global and local content.' Deniz Şaşmaz Oflaz, Vice President of Local Original Productions, Local Channels and Streaming Operations Lead for Türkiye, added: 'The country has a vibrant storytelling tradition and a thriving entertainment industry. With Max, we are not only bringing our world-class content to Turkish audiences, we are also increasing our investment in local talent and productions that celebrate Turkey's unique culture and stories.' Max offers thousands of hours of content, combining a lineup of entertainment from Warner Bros. Pictures, DC Studios, HBO Originals, Max Originals, Discovery, TLC and Cartoon Network.

Warner Bros. Discovery to launch streaming service Max in Turkey

Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) is set to launch its premium streaming service Max in Turkey on April 15, replacing the local platform BluTV as part of a major rebranding effort. With this transition, WBD aims to expand its investment in Turkish content, introducing new original productions to the platform in the coming months. The revamped service will merge BluTV's local presence with an extensive global catalog, featuring HBO and Max Originals, Turkish series, and content from Eurosport, Cartoon Network, Cartoonito, CNN International and Discovery+. Turkey marks the 77th territory for Max, furthering WBD's global expansion. With a population exceeding that of Germany, the UK, or France, the Turkish market represents a major opportunity to attract millions of new subscribers. Max now boasts 116.9m subscribers worldwide, following a 6.4m increase in Q4 2024. The second season of Turkish hit series Magarsus , which is a Succession -type show set in the world of the citrus fruit business, premieres this Thursday on BluTV, with upcoming episodes released weekly. 'The season's final two episodes of the BluTV original will then land exclusively on Max' on April 17 and 24, the firm said. 'Signaling the upcoming transition of this beloved drama from BluTV to a new home on Max, a Magarsus family portrait commissioned by celebrated Turkish artist Ethem Onur Bilgiç was seen being collected by removal men after a Magarsus screening in Istanbul today.' Jamie Cooke, General Manager CEE, MENA and Türkiye at Warner Bros. Discovery, said: 'Max is the streaming home of Warner Bros. Discovery and offers subscribers an incredible breadth and depth of culture-defining entertainment from our services, networks and studios, all in one place. 'Türkiye is a key market as we take Max global, and we're thrilled to make it available to everyone in the country on April 15. By combining the best of BluTV's content together with the global content from Max and its enhanced global platform, we're not only improving the user experience, but also offering the subscribers much more to choose from. This marks a significant and exciting milestone in fully integrating BluTV into Warner Bros. Discovery's global portfolio.'
