9-1-1 Season 9: Burning Questions We Need Answered This Fall, From Athena's Next Steps to Buck's Big Move
It's been more than two weeks since 9-1-1 wrapped one of its most series-defining seasons yet (for better or worse), but that doesn't mean I've stopped thinking about the 118. In fact, the more time passes, the more time I've had to wonder how Season 9 could play out for each of our our fire-fighting favorites this fall. Without any concrete insight from showrunner Tim Minear (yet), it remains anyone's guess what the future holds for the 118 as they continue to find their way forward in the wake of Bobby's death. So what are we left to do in this situation? Why, wildly speculate, of course! Read on for the eight burning questions I have ahead of Season 9, including at least one I'm sure you'll hate, then drop a comment with your own queries below. This feels like one of the biggest question marks on our list. When Athena put her house on the market and drove away in the Season 8 finale, it felt like more than just a farewell to a plot of land. She was leaving her life with Bobby in the rearview, headed towards a fresh start. But what, exactly, does that mean for Athena? Where will she live? Will she remain a sergeant with the LAPD, or might she follow a new calling? And even though I feel like it's way too soon to think about this… might she still have another great love story left in her someday? Maddie's first pregnancy back in Season 5 led to a powerful storyline about postpartum depression, one which nearly cost Jennifer Love Hewitt's character her life. The Season 8 finale ended with the joyous birth of Maddie and Chimney's son, Robert 'Bobby' Nash Hahn, but it's hard not to worry about that joy being short-lived. Here's hoping Maddie has a much easier time with baby No. 2 — that poor woman has already been through enough! Speaking of people who have been through enough already, Season 8 ended on an extremely positive note for the Wilsons, as Hen and Karen officially adopted Mara into their family. But there's that word, 'family.' 9-1-1 seems to take a special delight in putting this particular family in jeopardy, whether it's via the return of a problematic biological parent, the menacing tactics of a vengeful councilwoman, or just the occasional freak accident that puts one or more of their lives in danger. So while I'm always relieved to see Hen and Karen enjoying even a fleeting moment of happiness, I can't help but wonder what future nightmares Season 9 has in store for them. Once Hen passed on the promotion to captain of the 118, Chimney became the next logical choice to fill Bobby's turnout gear — especially after that powerful finale speech. But just because Hen accidentally called him 'cap,' that doesn't mean the job is officially his… yet. Will he finally sign on the dotted line in the Season 9 premiere, or is this something he'll have to fight for? If the latter, who would he be up against? Season 8 finally gave Buddie fans what they've always wanted — Buck and Eddie living together under the same roof. Unfortunately, that dream turned out to be short-lived, as the finale ended with Buck moving out to find a place of his own. It was obvious that he didn't want to leave, telling his realtor that he liked how lived-in his last place felt, so there's always a chance he could end up back at Chateau Diaz. The only question is: would the show really be that good to us? Like all 9-1-1 viewers, I've had a soft spot for Ravi ever since his 'probie' days. And by the end of Season 8, he was really beginning to feel like a full-time member of the team — nay, a full-time member of the family. Heck, he was front and center for some of the season's most formative moments, from the death of Bobby to the birth of… also Bobby. This leaves me to wonder: when will 9-1-1 finally give actor Anirudh Pisharody a well-deserved promotion, potently revealing more about Ravi in the process? With Rescue: HI-Surf cancelled at Fox, Arielle Kebbel is now available to return to the 118's orbit, and I wouldn't hate that one bit. Besides being a Kebbel stan since the days of John Tucker Must Die, I've always considered Lucy to be an under-explored character with a lot of potential. Plus, once considered a viable love interest for Buck, Lucy would undoubtedly have a memorable reaction to the news of his recent bisexual awakening. Much like the show itself, I've had a complicated relationship with Buddie over the years. The spark between Buck and Eddie has been obvious since the latter joined the 118 in Season 2, but as time progressed, I began to give up hope. When Buck came out as bisexual in Season 7, however, everything changed. The idea of him and Eddie finally seeing what fans have seen for years was no longer a pipe dream, but rather a very real possibility. And Season 8 marked another undeniable milestone on the road to Buddieville, when Maddie asked her brother point blank if he's in love with his best friend. Buck denied having feelings for Eddie, of course, but his actions continue to speak otherwise. And they speak loudly. After cruelly taking Bobby from us, the least 9-1-1 can do now is give us Buddie in exchange. Is that really so much to ask? SAVED US FROM A 9-5 Scottish band reveal how Dolly Parton became the key to their success ahead of Glastonbury gig THE Bluebells will play Glastonbury for the first time this summer — and insist it's all down to Dolly Parton. Lead singer Bobby Bluebell — real name Robert Hodgens — and the McCluskey brothers will take to the festival's Acoustic Stage at the end of next month. Advertisement 5 The Bluebells thank Dolly Parton for their success However, Bobby reveals their incredible resurgence wouldn't have been possible if the country and western legend Dolly hadn't priced herself out of doing a TV car advert in the 90's. Her original version of I Will Always Love You was first choice to be used in a Volkswagen commercial. However, after Whitney Houston's cover from the Bodyguard movie topped charts around the world it was deemed too expensive to use. So the Scots indie band's 80s track Young At Heart was chosen instead - before giving the trio their first-ever No1 when the song topped the charts for four weeks in 1993. Advertisement Bobby explains: 'Clare Grogan's sister Kate was working at this advertising agency in London at the time. 'The agency was scrambling around as they were just about to launch and they needed a replacement and fast. "So because Dolly became too expensive and I had known Kate from school before her sister was in Altered Images, The Bluebells got their first No1.' It had about one sandwich and bowls of gruel. 'Suddenly Young At Heart started playing over the sound system and even to this day I'm convinced that it was too much of a coincidence. 'What I actually think happened was that the Stasi were following us and they had put it on, just to remind us that we were being watched by the East German Secret Police.' 5 Bobby Bluebell shared how Dolly Parton helped the band He adds: 'I used to find it strange to hear it played at funerals. But I'm kind of getting used to that now. Advertisement 'I never thought of it as being a funeral song but yeah, I think it does fit quite well.' Dolly herself played the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury in 2014 and now The Bluebells will get to follow in her footsteps at Worthy Farm in Somerset. But for someone who is now more likely to be found in a golf clubhouse than in a nightclub, Bobby is just glad that their Glasto slot is an early one. The 65-year-old, who used to play golf with a 12 handicap, says: 'My favourite festival is actually Fringe by the Sea in North Berwick, because it's surrounded by all those lovely golf courses. 'I have been to Glastonbury before with Texas when they were on the main stage and they were brilliant. Advertisement 'But it's not the sort of thing I would normally do. Standing in a field for four days queuing for an autobank or the toilet isn't really my thing. "So I was delighted when I was told we would be on stage at half five. 'That means we can get out of there and be in a hotel by 10pm — perfect.' He adds: 'We really do have Dolly to thank for us being there at all. 'But life is full of all these little Sliding Doors moments that can take you to some incredible places.'

Katherine Ryan faces fresh neighbour battle after husband Bobby's dream garden is ruined over the bank holiday
KATHERINE Ryan has opened up on drama with her new neighbour after her husband Bobby Kootstra's dream garden was left ruined. We previously reported how the stand-up had complained to the council in 2022 after her neighbours built a balcony overlooking her swimming pool. Now, Katherine has told how a different male neighbour on the other side of the fence caused issues over the recent Bank Holiday weekend. In her podcast, the Canadian described her outdoor space as "a beautiful garden that my husband takes such good pride in." Yet detailing the "big drama" to come, she told how their new neighbour had informed them he would be doing some gardening work ahead of their family trip to Costco. Her eldest daughter Violet, 15, stayed at home yet rung her parent to tell her "there is a giant tree in our garden." In the frantic call she told her: "The neighbours are chopping down trees, does Bobby want to see a photo?" Katherine then tells her: "I show Bobby the photo, a giant tree has fallen over and through our fence and is in the garden. "You can see many other trees were cut at the tree line." Katherine Ryan says she's planning £174k facelift at 41 as she reveals exactly when she'll get it done She told how it was a "big change" to their landscape and added: "Those trees have been around a long time, as someone with a planning background we are in a conservation area." She then reverted back to explaining her spouse's reaction, telling her Katherine's Telling Everybody Everything listeners: "Now we have got an entire tree in our f**king garden and Bobby is having a meltdown in the Costco. "Not angry just looking really sad, then he got quiet. I had to take the children away from the trolley." She then told how he had a chat with the neighbour when they got home, and arranged to have some more surveys done before any more trees were chopped down. Katherine added: "He loves nature and the garden and the shade those trees provided "He just takes a lot of pride in his garden "I don't think Bobby would chop down anything without telling a neighbour. "My concern is I have small children and dogs, if a giant tree is fell in our garden there are safe ways to do that." She added of her partner: "It just ruined the day, it's like his sports team had lost." The pair entered into a civil partnership in Denmark in 2019.
