Met Gala 2025: Megan Thee Stallion Gives A Sneak Peek Into The Delectable Food

Last Updated: While guests are not allowed to use their phones, Megan Thee Stallion sneaked in her phone and shared a video capturing a glimpse of all the food she ate at Met Gala 2025. The steps of the Metropolitan Museum turned into a star-studded, glitzy, haute couture event on Monday, May 5. The Met Gala, one of the biggest and most prestigious events in fashion, was organised on the first Monday of May. While all eyes are on the red carpet where celebrities serve looks in some carefully curated looks, another aspect of the Met Gala is the dinner menu, which is equally meticulously planned. For the Met Gala 2025, James Beard Award-winning chef Kwame Onwuachi was entrusted to create a delectable menu for the guests. As reported by Vogue, the dinner started after 8 PM. The meal opened with a vibrant papaya piri piri salad, highlighting the bold flavours of the famed South African spice blend, paired with cucumbers steeped in a Caribbean green-seasoning marinade. The main course featured creole-style roasted chicken accompanied by a tangy lemon emulsion, traditional rice and peas, and a house-made hot sauce. Sides included smoky BBQ collard greens with crispy bacon and cornbread slathered with a rich honey-curry butter. To wrap up the evening on a sweet note, dessert came in the form of a 'Bodega Special Cosmic Brownie,' paired with a powdered sugar doughnut mousse and a decadent golden cake topped with honey-sweetened cream and blistered gooseberries. 'Each dish was a nod to the diverse expressions of Black culture across the globe, presented with elegance and intention," said Chef Kwame to Vogue. Additionally, Megan Thee Stallion also took to her Instagram to share a video where she gave a glimpse into the dinner. Sharing the video, she wrote, 'Hottie Cam in thee MET GALA." Seated with Doechii and Angel Reese, they started their feast with Cornbread and Caviar. The Met Gala 2025 dinner also included White Truffle Lobster Roll, which was an elevated take on the classic Maine coastal favourite. A playful yet thoughtful plant-based spin came in the form of Vegan Lox on a Mini Bagel, a tribute to the rich deli traditions of New York, reimagined through a modern lens by Chef Kwame. The dinner continued with a Chicken and Plantain dish. Meanwhile, the Truffle Chopped Cheese redefined the iconic New York street staple with a gourmet touch. Diners were also treated to a Hamachi bite, which added a Japanese influence to the menu. Not just the menu, even the dining tables were exquisite. The elegantly set tables were adorned with pink and purple blooms and complemented by soft green accent lighting. First Published: May 06, 2025, 14:23 IST

Four every day foods 'are banned' at the Met Gala

Madonna, Chappell Roan, and Lewis Hamilton were among the numerous A-listers in attendance yesterday, donning outfits in the theme of 'Tailored for You' Vogue icon Anna Wintour reportedly banned four surprising foods from the extravagant Met Gala menu. The annual New York event saw countless celebrities gather at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for one of the biggest nights in fashion. Madonna, Chappell Roan, and Lewis Hamilton were among the many A-listers in attendance yesterday, donning outfits in the theme of 'Tailored for You'. The stars walked across the blue carpet before heading inside to view the Costume Institute's spring exhibition while enjoying music and dinner. ‌ According to a former Vogue employee, Wintour calls the shots on what chefs can and cannot serve, which apparently includes a ban on four key foods. While you may envision a messy spaghetti dish or corn on the cob, it is parsley, garlic, onion, and bruschetta that make her hit list. ‌ The source explained that while onion and garlic are notorious for causing bad breath, parsley is off the menu 'because you don't want that stuck in your teeth'. Albeit delicious, the New York Post also reported in 2016 that bruschetta can 'fall easily' on gowns - a costly mistake. Kwame Onwuachi was the chef responsible for creating and executing the Met Gala's 2025 menu. In a recent interview with Vogue, he said that Black experiences of fashion were at the heart of his dishes. "I was inspired by Black dandyism and the Black experience in fashion—it's pulled from so many different avenues and routes of the diaspora," he said, before adding: "We can be poetic as we want, but it has to be good at the end of the day." At cocktail hour last night, guests were served an array of small dishes. These included cornbread topped with caviar, curry chicken patties, and hoecakes with crispy chicken. ‌ Papaya piri piri salads coupled with cucumber in a Caribbean green-seasoning marinade were then served as a first course, followed by creole roasted chicken with lemon emulsion, hot sauce, rice and peas. Dessert was 'Bodega Special Cosmic Brownie' - a sugary doughnut mousse treat—and golden cake with honey-sweet cream. Onwuachi added: "All throughout the meal, there are different aspects of blackness throughout the world represented at the highest level." The Mirror has approached the Metropolitan Museum of Art for further information.

What's for Dinner at the 2025 Met Gala?

For the 2025 Met Gala, the food needed to be just as fine as the fashion itself—which is why Vogue asked James Beard Award-winning chef Kwame Onwuachi to create this year's menu. 'I was inspired by Black dandyism and the Black experience in fashion—it's pulled from so many different avenues and routes of the diaspora,' says Onwuachi, whose critically acclaimed restaurant, Tatiana, was named as the best in New York City by The New York Times. 'I wanted to encapsulate all of that, from the hors d'oeuvres to plated dinner at the gala.' But most importantly? It needed to be delicious. 'We can be poetic as we want, but it has to be good at the end of the day,' Onwuachi says. At cocktail hour, waiters passed around elevated soul food on silver trays: think hoecakes with crispy chicken, mini chopped cheeses, cornbread topped with caviar, as well as curry chicken patties. (The latter is a twist on Tatiana's famous curried goat chicken patties.) Just after 8 p.m, dinner began in the Temple of Dendur with a first course of papaya piri piri salad—a celebration of the famous South African spice—alongside cucumbers doused in a Caribbean green seasoning marinade. For dinner, waiters served creole roasted chicken with lemon emulsion, rice and peas, and a fresh hot sauce. Meanwhile, BBQ collard greens with bacon and cornbread with honey curry butter were offered as a sides. Then came the sweet final touch: a 'Bodega Special Cosmic Brownie' with a powdered sugar donut mousse as well as a golden cake with honey sweet cream and blistered gooseberry. 'All throughout the meal, there are different aspects of blackness throughout the world represented at the highest level,' he says. Guests like Pharrell Williams and Janelle Monáe enjoyed it all while sitting next to the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Temple of Dendur. A painting by Cy Gavin—'Untitled (Sky)'—was projected in the grand room. All of this was surrounded by a set made to look like elaborate cabinetry one would see at London suit shop, complete with sconces from Ysaac de la Puente at Lionsgate Antiques NY.'The idea was to really create a very sophisticated English tailor,' the Met Gala's event planner, Raúl Àvila, tells Vogue. (The concept is a nod to the origin of Black dandyism, which the author of Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Identity pinpoints to 18th-century England.) A memorable dinner, indeed.
