The Dons netted a club record £6.5million fee when the North Macedonia striker joined the La Liga outfit. At the time of Miovski's arrival, Girona had just enjoyed a stunning campaign that saw them finish third in the league and qualify for the Champions League for the first time in their history. Miovski arrived in Girona as a replacement for the prolific Artem Dovbyk who moved to Roma. The club couldn't repeat their incredible 2023/24 season and finished 16th in La Liga. Miovski struggled, scoring just twice in 21 games in all competitions. Both of those goals came in the same game, a 4-1 win over Espanyol last November. He started Girona's new season opener on Friday night, being subbed-off at half-time of a 3-1 home defeat to Rayo Vallecano. Miovski has been heavily linked with a move away from Girona this summer, and now one of Spain's most historic clubs could be about to come calling. Six-time champions of Spain, Valencia have been somewhat a fallen giant in recent years. Billy Dodds on returning to Rangers under Barry Ferguson, defeating Mourinho & ending Celtic Park hoodoo Having battled at the bottom of the table for much of the last campaign, they rallied to finish 12th under former West Brom boss Carlos Corberan. Journalist Matteo Moretto claims that Valencia are considering a move to sign Miovski. He says that the former Aberdeen man is a 'more easily accessible option' as they look to bolster their attack. Valencia are on the hunt for a new striker with mega Rangers flop Umar Sadiq a key target. But while talks for Sadiq are ongoing, no agreement has been reached in terms of a loan fee. Sadiq joined fellow La Liga outfit Real Sociedad for £17million in 2022 after finding stunning form for Almeria. It's a far cry from the 28-year old Nigerian striker's nightmare spell at Rangers in 2018. The frontman made just one league appearance for the Gers and his only start saw him turn out a dismal performance in a League Cup semi-final defeat to Aberdeen. Canada striker Cyle Larin, currently playing for Mallorca, is said to be another option Valencia are considering. Bojan Miovski sees Girona transfer escape route open up as Aberdeen hero's rotten luck continues
The former Dons goal machine hasn't had the best time of it since his departure last year Girona forward Bojan Miovski is a target for fellow La Liga side Valencia - according to a report. The North Macedonia star only arrived in Spain in a £6.8million deal from Aberdeen 12 months ago but endured a tough debut campaign, netting just four times in 22 matches in all competitions. Miovski was previously a target for Celtic and has also been tentatively linked to city rivals Rangers as well as Bundesliga duo Freiburg and Hamburg. The Pittodrie hero started in Girona's league opener against Rayo Vallecano on Friday night but was hooked at half time with his team already 2-0 down after goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga saw red. And now Spanish outlet Fichahes claim that he is a loan target for Carlos Corberan's Valencia. They add that the six-time La Liga winners' are working on a loan deal for the 26-year-old even though Girona would be open to selling the player permanently. Valencia have struggled to balance the books in recent seasons but see a loan move for Miovski as a cheaper alternative to the finances involved in deals for other forward targets Cyle Larin and Rangers' flop Umar Sadiq. Earlier this week, Girona boss Michel had confirmed that the Catalan club are looking to bring in another attacker, casting more doubts on Miovski's long-term future at the Estadi Montilivi. He said: "We need a left-back, a central midfielder, a winger, and a striker. "It seems like Miguel Gutiérrez will leave, although it's not a done deal yet. If he leaves, we'll need another left-back." Back in July, Miovski left the door open to a potential departure by admitting that a decision on his future could be taken out of his hands. The former MTK Budapest frontman also hasn't ruled out making a sensational return to Pittodrie further down the line. In an interview with he said: "My career will probably last for another 10 years, and I cannot predict the future, but I do not rule out the possibility of wearing Aberdeen's shirt again one day. "I was really appreciated within the club, and I love the club as well. I felt really good there, and if I return there one day, winning a trophy would be at the top of my list. 'My primary goal is to score as many goals as possible next season and help my team achieve its targets. I signed a long-term deal last year, but I cannot predict what will happen over the summer. "Although the club considers me a project to develop and I have three years left on my contract, everything is open, and whether I will leave or stay depends on the club."

Write off Kusini Yengi at your peril as the Aberdeen striker will come good
The summer signing from Portsmouth has struggled in his first two games but he has strengths and will shine Kusini Yengi is just two games into his Aberdeen career and already he is in the firing line. The jury is out on the big striker, who arrived from Portsmouth in the summer. Certainly, if you were to use social media as a barometer then a lot of people have already written him off. Yes, the big Australian hasn't had the best of starts, but give him time. He is being judged on two games and most Dons are looking for him to follow in the footsteps of their former hero Bojan Miovski. Yip, against Hearts he had a couple of chances against Hearts but didn't take them. At least, he was in the position in the first place. The Celtic game at the weekend was more of a thankless task. He got very little service although granted he could have held the ball up better and got his team further up the park, but there aren't many strikers who get much change out of Cameron Carter-Vickers. There was also the moment when Aberdeen countered and it broke down when Yengi failed to control it in the six yard box. That for me, that showed a player who is lacking in confidence. We know and have seen how big that is in any sport, never mind football. You can understand why. The big forward didn't have the best of season's last year at Portsmouth. He failed to score and a lot of his campaign was disrupted by injury. The good thing for Yengi is that he has the backing of his manager Jimmy Thelin said: 'He will grow. He was there for the situations (chances) and you have to arrive there in the first instance. He is getting sharper.' He also has the backing of his Pittodrie teammates, as Nicky Devlin stated at the weekend. He acknowledged: 'I think we have to probably get the ball in better areas, play more to his strengths. 'It's his first taste of being up here, it's only his second game in the league. 'I think it's probably more about other people doing a wee bit more to support him and getting the ball into areas where we know he can be dangerous.' What I would say about Yengi is his track record is still half-decent. The season before he scored 13 goals and had been a big player in Pompey winning promotion back to the Championship. He has six goals in 11 appearances for Australia, where he is a team mate of Martin Boyle. That isn't a bad strike rate and shows there is something there. Also, he has scored for Aberdeen. Yengi got the goal in their closed door pre-season friendly at Fulham. There is definitely something there and that is why Thelin and his scouting team identified him as a top summer signing. At this point, more than ever, he needs the backing of the fans to get through this difficult time. Look at Pape Gueye when he first came to Aberdeen. He hardly hit the ground running and was sent on loan to Aalesunds in Norway. The writing looked on the wall for him. Yet, he came back a different player, full of confidence and was given another chance by Thelin. Big Pape ended up a Scottish Cup winning-legend and made Aberdeen a tidy transfer profit into the bargain. There was also a spell last season when a lot of Aberdeen fans were wondering why they had signed Kevin Nisbet. He was another one who went on to buck the trend and became a major player for Thelin last season. Not every new signing is going to hit the ground running, while some players need time to adapt. Many people will say he has been playing at Portsmouth and so it shouldn't take him that long to adjust to the demands of Scottish football! Yes, I get that but bigger and better names than Yengi have come north and struggled. I give you Joey Barton as the prime example. Let's judge Yengi once he has had a few games and hopefully, for him, a few goals under his belt. You might well see a different player. It will also help when Thelin adds to his attacking options with deals for Marko Lazetic and Kenan Bilalovic. Yengi certainly has everything to play for. There is a World Cup at the end of the season. Yengi will want to force his way back into the Socceroos squad for that one. If he does and then has a decent first season at Pittodrie then he will be in demand. A big powerful striker, with pace and who scores goals! Most top European clubs are looking for that and will pay top dollar. As they say, when it comes to strikers, it's not how you start, it's how you finish!

Bojan Miovski suitors placed on red alert as Girona boss reveals transfer plans
The former Aberdeen striker netted just four times in 21 matches in his debut season in Spain last year Bojan Miovski's long-term future at Girona has been thrown into further doubt after the La Liga side's manager confirmed they are looking to bring in another striker. The Macedonia star endured a tough debut season in Spain following his £6.8million switch from Aberdeen 12 months ago, scoring just four goals in 21 matches in all competitions. Girona had claimed a Champions League spot in the 2023/24 campaign with a shock third place finish in Spain's top-flight but a huge slump saw them narrowly avoid relegation to the Segunda Division last season. Miovski featured in four of Girona's six pre-season fixtures ahead of their La Liga opener against Rayo Vallecano next weekend but Estadio Deportivo report that the 26-year-old is likely to be moved on this summer. The Pittodrie hero was a target for Celtic in the past after bagging 44 goals across two seasons with the Dons and has been tentatively linked with rivals Rangers as well as Bundesliga duo Hamburg and Freiburg. It comes after Girona head coach Michel revealed that he wants to sign four more players before the window slams shut on September 1, including a new centre forward. He said: "We need a left-back, a central midfielder, a winger, and a striker. "It seems like Miguel Gutiérrez will leave, although it's not a done deal yet. If he leaves, we'll need another left-back." Earlier this summer, Miovski left the door open to a potential departure by admitting that a decision on his future could be taken out of his hands. The former MTK Budapest frontman also hasn't ruled out making a sensational return to Pittodrie further down the line. Bojan Miovski refuses to rule out return to Aberdeen and lifts lid on Girona future
Former Pittodrie goal hero Bojan Miovski admits he is open to returning to Aberdeen in the future as he wants to win a trophy with the Dons. North Macedonia international striker Miovski was sold to Spanish La Liga Girona for a club record £6.8million fee last summer. Miovski netted 44 goals in two seasons with the Dons to earn the big money move to Girona, who were also in the Champions League. However, the 25-year-old endured a frustrating debut season at Girona with only four goals across 22 appearances in all competitions. Reports in Spain recently suggested Miovski's future at Girona could be in jeopardy. And the striker has refused to rule out returning to Aberdeen 'one day' as he has an enduring love for the club. Miovski said: 'My career will probably last for another 10 years, and I cannot predict the future. 'But I do not rule out the possibility of wearing Aberdeen's shirt again one day. 'I was really appreciated within the club, and I love the club as well. 'I felt really good there, and if I return there one day, winning a trophy would be at the top of my list. 'Aberdeen left a big mark on my career, and I miss a lot of those moments. 'Also, my desire to wear the shirt and my ambition to always score a goal and secure a win played a key role in me becoming so loved at the club. 'And also building up such a strong connection with the supporters. 'Their fans are unbelievable. 'I still receive a lot of messages from them to this day, which makes me very happy,' Aberdeen won the Scottish Cup with a dramatic penalty shoot-out win against Celtic in the final at Hampden last month. Miovski admits regret at never lifting silverware with Aberdeen during his two seasons in Scotland. He played in the League Cup final at Hampden in 2023, losing 1-0 to Rangers. Talking to the striker said: 'Every player wants to win trophies. 'I regret I did not manage to lift a trophy during my two years with Aberdeen. 'But I'm really glad they've won the Scottish Cup now. 'I'm especially happy for my former teammates who played with me in the Scottish League Cup final back in 2023-24 that we lost. 'This is what football is all about – winning trophies.' Miovski played only 20 minutes of Girona's final 10 La Liga matches as they successfully battled to avoid relegation. Reports in Spain claim Girona's director of football will hold talks with Miovski this summer regarding his future. The striker is focused on making an impact at Girona – although he admits he cannot predict what will happen this summer. He said: 'My primary goal is to score as many goals as possible next season and help my team (Girona) achieve its targets. 'I signed a long-term deal last year, but I cannot predict what will happen over the summer. 'Although the club considers me a project to develop and I have three years left on my contract. 'Everything is open, and whether I will leave or stay depends on the club.' Girona beat off competition from clubs across Europe to land Miovski from Aberdeen. Miovski was used sparingly by boss Thelin in the opening months of the season as transfer interest in the striker ramped up. The striker made only one start, against St Johnstone away in the Premiership, with another two appearances off the bench. He was introduced in the final minutes of a 3-1 win against St Mirren at Pittodrie on August 11 to say an emotional farewell to Dons fans. Miovski made his debut for Girona in a 3-0 loss to Atletico Madrid on August 25. He said: 'I was unsure about where I would continue my career, although I knew that I was definitely going to leave (Aberdeen). 'I started pre-season with Aberdeen, but I did not feature in the preparation matches as nobody wanted me to get injured at the time. 'Honestly, I did not expect the negotiations to drag on as much as they did. 'And it affected me physically as I was not ready to play immediately and my transfer was completed ahead of La Liga's round two. 'Additionally, September's international break started after that and I didn't have enough time to settle and get adjusted with my new teammates in training, which made adapting much more difficult than it could have been.' Miovski is spearheading North Macedonia's Fifa World Cup 2026 qualifying bid. He started in qualifying games against Belgium (1-1) and Kazakhstan (1-0 win) earlier this month. Miovski revealed he had more lucrative offers last summer, but opted to sign for Girona as they offered the best football option. He explained: 'As a footballer, I always pick my clubs based on my style of play, and Girona was the best option for me last summer. 'It is important to note, it was not the best financial offer I got. 'But, as a player, my priority is to develop my game and be at a club where I will play regularly. 'Girona played attacking football last season. 'As a striker, I thought that I should join a team that created at least six or seven clear chances for the striker to score. 'But, unfortunately, that was not the case this season and it was the complete opposite compared to last. 'We had a lot of issues like injuries and we played too slowly. 'We were not dangerous enough, nor did we make a lot of crosses, which made life difficult for us – the forwards. 'That's why I consider this season a failure from a collective point of view. 'Although we earned safety, we could have done much more with this squad. 'But, in football, all of the pieces need to fall into place for the team to play well, and this season was unsuccessful for us.'
