Iulia Vantur Says Salman Khan Told Her ‘To Act Less' As She Makes Her Acting Debut: 'He Said...'
Last Updated: Iulia Vantur reveals Salman Khan's advice on acting—'do less'—as she debuts in Echoes Of Us. She stars in Deepak Tijori's short film about restraint and realism. Iulia Vantur, known to many as a singer and television personality, is now stepping into the world of acting with her debut in Deepak Tijori's short film Echoes Of Us. As the film gears up for release, Iulia and Deepak recently sat down for a candid chat on Varinder Chawla's YouTube channel, where they reflected on the project, industry experiences, and a certain superstar's advice. When asked how she came on board the project, Deepak admitted that he wasn't sure if Iulia would agree to do the film. Iulia, however, dismissed the hesitation with grace. 'I mean, it was a great script, and it was an honour working with you (Deepak); why would I say no?" she replied with a smile. The conversation then shifted to Salman Khan, who has been frequently linked with Iulia and had publicly supported Echoes Of Us on social media. When asked whether she ever seeks acting advice from Salman, Iulia laughed and quipped, 'I think he would tell me to act less. He would tell me to not do much and that less is better." Deepak chimed in, agreeing with Salman's minimalist approach. 'Yes, that is something Bhatt sahab (Mahesh Bhatt) also teaches you. I think Salman also comes from the school of acting. Not acting is the most difficult part of acting. Knowing when you are going overboard is the best part of the skill." During the interview, Deepak also opened up about the more difficult phases of his own career. He spoke about being typecast and how trying to help others in the industry sometimes backfired. 'This is what our industry does; it typecasts you, and I fell in that trap. Bhatt Sahab tried to break that trap for me, but his brother Mukesh told him that 'you cannot make a film with Deepak as the lead.' It was a commercial decision, so I don't think I hold anything against him." Deepak also revisited a major 'what if" moment in his career — when he almost landed the role of Prem in Maine Pyar Kiya. He revealed that it ultimately came down to him and Salman Khan, with Sooraj Barjatya making the final call. 'He told me that I had performed very well, but since it was a love story, they went ahead with Salman. And I agreed with him. When he told me that women will immediately fall in love with Salman given his looks, I also accepted. I told him, 'Sir, I am hurt, but at the same time, you are right.' I was mature enough and never felt that he wronged me, I felt it was justified, so I said okay and walked back," Deepak said in an earlier interview with Bollywood Bubble. As Iulia Vantur embarks on a new journey in front of the camera, she carries with her a grounded perspective, sage advice from Salman, and the backing of a director who sees her potential. Echoes Of Us might just mark the beginning of a compelling new chapter in her career. First Published: July 19, 2025, 18:20 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
