Revealed: Boris Becker's unusual advice for Alexander Zverev involving his model girlfriend after lacklustre French Open defeat to Novak Djokovic
Boris Becker offered an unusual piece of advice to fellow German Alexander Zverev on the heels of his quarter-final defeat to Novak Djokovic at this year's French Open. The world No3 had enjoyed a relatively untroubled journey through the Roland-Garros draw, only taken beyond straight-sets wins in his second-round match against Jesper de Jong - and handed an extended break between matches when his fourth-round opponent Tallon Griekspoor retired in the second set. But Zverev had a more challenging time against the Serbian serial champion on Wednesday night, with the pair meeting for the first time since their abortive Australian Open semi-final ended prematurely when the 24-time Grand Slam champion withdrew due to injury. The 28-year-old claimed a cagey first set 6-4, but quickly disintegrated to allow the older player a shot at a historic 25th majors title with his 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 win. The quarter-final exit comes on the heels of a tricky post-Melbourne run for the German star, which has seen him book a number of unedifying first-round exits at Masters tournaments on clay. In the midst of his 2025 dip in form, Becker had a remedy for his compatriot - albeit one that Zverev might be loath to accept. 'He no longer wants to play every week, but his family pushes him,' the six-time Grand Slam champion assessed, via 'Father (Alexander Snr, former player and his coach) wanted to play all the time, brother (Misha, another former player) too. 'And Sascha has to learn to put an end to it, to go on vacation, spend time with his daughter, his girlfriend Sophia (Thomalla), to get away from tennis. 'Otherwise, it will burn out, it will become "ballaballa".' 'Ballaballa' is a largely untranslatable German phrase which suggests a nonsensical plan. Zverev may wish to heed Becker's words and spend more time with Thomalla, who he has been in a relationship with since 2021. The 35-year-old German actress and model often travels with her partner, but presenting and brand commitments also keep her tethered to their home country. But Thomalla makes sure to travel with the world No3 to the major tournament, often sharing their journeys together on social media. As well as broadcasting, the influencer is often spotted at exotic beachside locations In January ahead of the Australian Open, the influencer shed light on the player's bizarre nighttime routine, revealing that every time Zverev goes to bed he 'goes to the toilet three times, and then back to bed, back and forth like that. 'I get the urge to cry every night and think to myself: now, just come to bed.' Thomalla added. The pair also went briefly viral during the tournament Down Under when locker room cameras captured the pair celebrating the player's win with an elaborate customised handshake. But the tournament also saw Zverev heckled by a member of the crowd during the trophy presentation after the final where he finished runner-up. A woman repeatedly shouted: 'Australia believes Olya and Brenda' before being removed by the crowd, in reference to two cases of domestic assault that Zverev had been accused of. In 2020 Olya Sharypova, a former girlfriend of Zverev, posted on Instagram accusing him of assaulting her multiple times, allegations she expanded upon in interviews. Sharypova did not go to the police but the ATP instituted a 15-month, independent investigation. In 2023 it was announced that Zverev would face no punishment as there was insufficient evidence to support Sharypova's claims. Before dating Thomalla, Zverev was in a relationship with Brenda Patea, who accused him in 2023 of domestic abuse in 2020. In May last year, separate accusations of domestic abuse from Brenda Patea, the mother of Zverev's daughter, went to a German court. The case was later settled, with the court telling the BBC: 'The decision is not a verdict, and it is not a decision about guilt or innocence. 'One decisive factor for the court decision was that the witness has expressed her wish to end the trial. The defendant agreed to the termination of the case.' When asked about Sunday's protestor, Zverev said: 'I believe there are no more accusations. There haven't been for, what, nine months now. 'Good for her. I think she was the only one in the stadium who believed anything in that moment. If that's the case, good for her.

EXCLUSIVE Celebrity Bear Hunt has been AXED as the show will not return for a second season
Netflix have axed their big money television show Celebrity Bear Hunt after just one series, MailOnline can reveal. The programme, which was set in Costa Rica and was hosted by Holly Willoughby alongside Bear Grylls, will not return despite the star saying that he was hopeful it would. Sources close to the show which aired in February say that while the ratings did well it was expensive to make and Netflix are now planning to do more live events rather than pre-recorded shows. One told MailOnline: 'Everyone was very proud of the show but when it came to it, it was just so expensive to make. 'You had to have a whole set in Costa Rica, loads of staff and loads of celebrities. The overheads were eyewatering.' It is understood that cheaper locations were looked at but nothing was appeared to be suitable. The news will come as a blow to Grylls, who speaking just two weeks ago, Bear said of a second series: 'God willing, we're just sort of figuring that out at the moment,' while speaking to Dermot O'Leary on Radio 2. Celebrity Bear Hunt had an impressive line up of celebrities including Spice Girl Mel B and tennis player Boris Becker who would not have been cheap to hire, according to sources. Other celebrities that took part included Lottie Moss, Danny Cipriani, Big Zuu, Joe Thomas, Kola Bokinni, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Leomie Anderson, Shirley Ballas, Steph McGovern and Una Healy. The show, which was Holly's first programme with Netflix, featured twelve celebrities who are sent to a jungle in Costa Rica, where they were forced to avoid being hunted down by Grylls. Along the way, the celebrities faced various challenges and solve puzzles. Holly, 44, signed for the show after her terrifying kidnap torment at the hands of former security guard Gavin Plumb who was last summer found guilty of a plot to kidnap, rape and murder her. When Grylls called her, she revealed she immediately she said yes - a decision which was aided by her three children Harry, Belle and Chester. 'It felt like the right time for me,' Holly told the Mail. 'When Bear called and described the premise of the show, I was like, 'Okay, well, firstly it sounds like a great show, it also sounds like a show that my kids would love, my kids love Bear anyway,' so it was a bit of a no brainer. 'For a long time, I think because my kids were younger, I've always been a bit 'ooh' I don't like leaving the country for so long, even when I went out to Australia for I'm A Celeb, kids came with me. 'It just felt like a really exciting project. You hear about different shows and there's always that real gut instinct when you go 'yes' and I think you just have to listen to that, and this was definitely a yes on a spot.'

Boris Becker 's daughter Anna Ermakova showed off her toned figure in a skimpy bikini as she went for a dip in Monaco. The German Let's Dance winner, 25, was spotted enjoying the sun with her mother Angela in Monaco on Monday. Anna was famously conceived on the staircase of Nobu in London when then-married Boris, 56, enjoyed a spontaneous tryst with Russian fashion model Angela Ermakova. She showed off her very toned abs as she was seen climbing out of the water, sporting a leopard print bandeau bikini top with matching high-leg bikini briefs. Anna looked radiant in the snaps and her ginger locks were slicked up into a tight bun. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Boris Becker 's daughter Anna Ermakova showed off her toned figure in a skimpy bikini as she went for a dip in Monaco on Mondau It comes after Boris fuelled speculation he's fallen out with daughter Anna, after he failed to acknowledge her 25th birthday last week. She shared pictures of her birthday celebrations to Instagram on Saturday, but Boris has neither liked nor commented on her post despite being active on social media every day since. It's the latest sign that Boris could have fallen out with his daughter, to whom he had been growing close in recent years. Representatives for Boris and Anna both declined to comment when approached by MailOnline. Six months ago, Anna was excluded from his third wedding to Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro, 33, in Monaco. His eldest sons, Noah, 31, and Elias, 25, by his first wife, Barbara, were present - and reportedly the only children of his that he invited. Rumours of a rift between Boris and Anna have swirled since, marking a departure from their previously happy relationship. In 2023, the German tennis star shared a very loving message to her on Instagram on her birthday. The year before that, Anna voiced concerns when he was jailed following a bankruptcy scam. 'I will support him and I will visit him whenever I can,' she said at the time. 'I hope that will help him a little to get through the time.' Six-time Grand Slam winner Boris, who earned £35m during his illustrious tennis career, was jailed for 30 months after a jury found that he hid millions of pounds' worth of assets to avoid paying his debts. Anna celebrated her birthday with friends at KOKO in Camden at the weekend, followed by a separate night out for mum Angela's birthday at Annabel's in Mayfair - just round the corner from the Nobu Park Lane branch where she was conceived. In one of the photos she shared, aspiring singer Anna, a former winner of TV's Let's Dance - Germany's equivalent of Strictly Come Dancing - looked glamorous in a figure-hugging metallic silver dress. She captioned the post: 'it's my BIRTHDAY level 25 unlocked. Thank you to all the amazing people in my life & thank you for all the warm birthday wishes. So much love, so much gratitude, heart overflowing.' Friends who were absent on the day - including Strictly Come Dancing judge Motsi Mabusi and Elizabeth Hurley's son Damian - commented and wished her happy birthday. Boris did not engage, but on the same day he posted a video of a recent interview he did to his Instagram. In contrast, Anna's mother Angela shared a gushing tribute to mark her birthday, writing: 'Happy birthday Anna... Years pass by but I always remember giving birth to my one and only baby' The following day, he shared an Instagram Story linking to the new hi Netflix series, Adolescence. An insider said: 'It's a really stark change to his behaviour in recent years. He's posted on her birthday before, and he used to like and comment on her pictures, so his silence is very noticeable.' In the social media post that Boris shared on Anna's birthday in 2023, he wrote: 'I wish my beautiful daughter only the very best on her special day. I couldn't be more proud of the woman she is becoming in front of our eyes! Love.' In contrast, Anna's mother Angela shared a gushing tribute to mark her birthday, writing: 'Happy birthday Anna... Years pass by but I always remember giving birth to my one and only baby. 'The umbilical cord is cut, but spiritual connection last forever - from here to eternity and back - the unconditional love never ends as time and space can't constrict it … the mother-daughter bond is one of a kind that can't be compared to other emotions and withstands all challenges that you go through in life.'

Boris Becker ‘lost for words' Novak Djokovic has not kept Andy Murray as his coach for Wimbledon
Boris Becker revealed he is 'lost for words' that Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray 's coaching partnership has ended after just six months. Djokovic hired great rival Murray as his coach at the back end of last year, with the pair working together at the Australian Open in January, where the Serb beat Carlos Alcaraz and reached the semi-finals before withdrawing due to injury. Yet Djokovic's results have nosedived since, with just one final appearance in Miami, and he lost his first matches on the clay of Monte-Carlo and Madrid. As such, last week, the pair jointly announced that they have gone their separate ways, with Djokovic adding this week he 'couldn't get more' out of the partnership. But three-time Wimbledon champion Becker, who coached Djokovic between 2013-2016, believed the pair would continue working together until at least The Championships, which start on 30 June. 'I'm a little bit surprised that they would end their working relationship just a week before Roland Garros,' Becker told The Independent, ahead of the French Open beginning this Sunday. 'I thought Melbourne was a big success. I was happy to see Andy back in action in Novak's corner. I really wanted to see them both at Wimbledon, actually. 'Andy knows a thing or two about winning Wimbledon, he's very popular there. I thought it would be an advantage for Novak to have Andy in his corner. 'I'm a little bit lost for words [as to] why they've broken up just before the second Grand Slam.' Djokovic, who turned 38 on Wednesday, is a seven-time winner at Wimbledon but has lost in the final to Carlos Alcaraz in the last two years, while Murray won the tournament in 2013 and 2016. Becker coached Djokovic to two Wimbledon titles in 2014 and 2015 and the German, 57, said he considers the 24-time Grand Slam champion like a 'younger brother.' Asked further what went wrong with the Djokovic-Murray partnership, Becker replied: 'I thought it was always about the Grand Slams and I thought the campaign in Melbourne went very well. 'I don't know the reasons. Novak is a smart guy - he knows what he's doing. I definitely thought this relationship would go at least until Wimbledon, but I was wrong. 'But you should never underestimate Novak Djokovic, he's always a very fierce competitor, he always has something up his sleeve. 'Novak Djokovic knows pretty much everything about tennis. So, who can he talk to that knows more? 'The challenge is for Novak to find someone that he has respect [for], who he can learn something from. 'That's very difficult because he's so good and knowledgeable, he's done everything there is to do in tennis and that's the difficulty he has.' Djokovic, now the world No 6, is eyeing a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam on the clay courts of Paris over the next fortnight, the same venue where he won his last tournament – gold at the Paris Olympics – last summer. The Serb won his first match on clay this year at the Geneva Open on Wednesday, beating Marton Fucsovics in straight-sets. He faces Matteo Arnaldi in the quarter-finals on Thursday.

Future of Holly Willoughby's £10million Netflix show revealed as co-host breaks silence on Bear Hunt fate amid axe fears
BEAR Grylls has broken his silence on the future of Celebrity Bear Hunt. following question marks over a second series. The show - starring Bear, 50, and hosted by Holly, 44, aired on Netflix earlier this year and saw 12 celebrities battle it out. 5 5 5 The Sun exclusively revealed how season two of the show was under threat due to costs - which saw the show hit the £10M mark to make. But now survival expert Bear has insisted that the show IS coming back. Talking on BBC Radio 2 at the weekend, he said: 'God willing, we are bringing Bear Hunt back. 'And we're hoping to do it live so it's going to be a live version, which Netflix have never done before - raw, real, hunt them down!' But if it does come back it sounds like he would want Holly to come back on it with him, as he couldn't stop gushing about the former This Morning host. Bear said: "Holly was so fun to work with, I'd never had that before working alongside someone like that, she hasn't had an easy journey but what a great girl she did brilliantly, she really did." Unfortunately the viewing figures didn't quite match up to the substantial hype around the show, which included celebrities ranging from Mel B, Lottie Moss, Danny Ciprian i and Boris Becker. AXE FEARS The Sun revealed earlier this month that the reality jungle adventure is yet to be approved for a second series by Netflix despite several meetings. Bosses want to bring it back but hosts Bear and Holly could face pay cuts if they do. A cheaper location is also being sought, as well as plans for fewer expensive celebrities. Watch brutal Celebrity Bear Hunt moment as TV star smashes into a cliff and another nearly drowns on Holly Willoughby's new Netflix show A source said: 'It got excellent reviews and was a brilliant production. 'Bosses were happy with its performance. 'Yet if it is recommissioned, cuts will 100 per cent be made and this could include talent salaries — both Holly and Bear as well as the celebs. 'All measures are being explored. 'As to location, think Clacton or Croatia, not Costa Rica.' Netflix was approached for a comment.
