Exploring potential trade packages for the Boston Celtics

Exploring potential trade packages for the Boston Celtics As we approach the offseason, the Boston Celtics are projected to be one of the more active teams in the league. Brad Stevens must try to get the team below the second luxury tax apron. Jayson Tatum's Achilles tendon tear means the franchise isn't expected to be a championship competitor next season, which, in turn, negates the need for such an expensive roster. Not only will the Celtics need to part ways with multiple veteran talents, they will also need to acquire some younger players to help remain competitive now while building for the future. Walking such a fine line will be a difficult task for Stevens. In truth, it may take 12 months to get the roster back in shape to contend at the highest level. Still, with so much uncertainty surrounding Boston's current crop of players, there will be no end to trade ideas. In a May 28 episode of the "How 'Bout Them Celtics?" podcast, hosts Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance dissected multiple trade ideas for different players on the roster. The duo explored how realistic each trade would be, and whether they would like to see the Celtics push forward with a deal. The Boston Celtics face some tough questions this summer

When Jayson Tatum suffered an Achilles tendon injury against the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference semifinals, the Boston Celtics' current championship window slammed shut. As such, multiple veteran members of Boston's roster are heading into the summer with question marks hanging over their heads. Similarly, Brad Stevens must now undertake the mammoth task of retooling the rotation on the fly and building them around Tatum, despite not knowing what type of player will be returning from injury. It's fair to argue that, as currently constructed, the Celtics are facing an uncertain future, which is far from ideal considering the extortionate payroll the team is committed to paying. Advertisement Recently, the "Sporting Logically" YouTube channel dissected Boston's roster and future outlook based on the current rotation of players. The host noted that this version of the team will never be the same again and that even with roster changes, a championship isn't guaranteed. Assessing the Boston Celtics top offseason priorities

Assessing the Boston Celtics top offseason priorities The NBA is expected to have a busy offseason. The free agency market projects to be weak, so most movement will likely come via trades. Despite winning a championship in 2024, the Boston Celtics are projected to be among the more active teams. Brad Stevens must figure out how to reduce the average age of the current roster while ducking under the second luxury tax apron. Boston's decision-making has been forced to change due to the Achilles tendon injury Jayson Tatum suffered against the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. As such, no one within the Celtics rotation can be considered untouchable, especially for the right price. Jim Jackson joined a recent episode of the "Rich Eisen Show" to discuss what the coming offseason could look like for the Celtics. Jackson also touched on the Cleveland Cavaliers, which is another team that was humbled by a second-round exit. Jackson and Eisen both hit on potential targets for each team and who will be atop of their priority lists. You can watch the full episode by clicking on the embedded video above. Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens can rebuild team to contend again

Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens can rebuild team to contend again Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations can rebuild the team to contend again, but the path to do it is a narrow one if major changes are not to be made to the storied ball club's roster. With a rapidly ballooning payroll and repeater tax bill coming at the same time Jayson Tatum and possibly Jaylen Brown will be out injured for what could be a large chunk of the season (and in Tatum's case, quite likely all of it), Stevens will have some tough choices to make. Will it be possible to shed salary AND keep the team from losing too much talent? Is it possible to move on from players like Kristaps Porzingis, Jrue Holiday, and Sam Hauser, or will Boston need to trade away a player like Brown? The hosts of the CLNS Media "First to the Floor" podcast, Jake Issenberg, Ben Vallis, and Wayne Spooney, linked up with Ryan Bernardoni (AKA Dangercart) to talk about how things might play out.
