Source: Variety / Getty It's a full-circle holiday moment for Grammy award-winning singer and actress Brandy Norwood, who will star opposite of her daughter Sy'Rai Smith for Lifetime's Christmas Everyday . Read more details inside. The new Lifetime holiday film will premiere as part of the network's annual It's a Wonderful Lifetime slate. Deadline exclusively debuted the news, marking a milestone for the Norwood family. Brandy will not only star in the festive flick but also serve as an executive producer, while daughter Sy'Rai makes her acting debut in a major co-starring role. In a sweet twist, the mother-daughter duo portray sisters onscreen, bringing their real-life chemistry into a heartwarming holiday story. Brandy takes on the role of Francine 'Fancy' Ballantine, a dedicated fashion designer navigating family responsibilities and career pressures after the recent loss of her father. With her mother Evelyn (played by Debbi Morgan) slowly losing her sight and her younger sister Belle (Smith) preparing for her wedding, Fancy finds herself trying to keep everyone — and the Christmas spirit — afloat. When a burst pipe threatens Belle's big day, a rugged contractor named Jaylen (Robert C. Riley) steps in to save the family home. Amid the chaos, Fancy finds unexpected romance and rediscovers the true meaning of Christmas. The movie also features Brandy's original 2023 holiday track 'Christmas Everyday,' tying music into the festive magic. Rounding out the cast is Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman ( UnReal ), who plays Fancy's quirky co-worker Germaine. The film is directed by Roger Bobb and written by Meg DeLoatch and Cameron Ross. It's produced by Fox Entertainment Studios, with Fox Entertainment Global handling international distribution. 'The holidays are always about family, so I'm beyond thrilled to be partnering with Lifetime on this magical project and having my own daughter star with me – even though we are playing sisters!' Brandy shared in a statement. With love, laughter, and lessons about faith and family, Christmas Everyday will be a standout holiday film, offering fans of Brandy and new viewers alike something extra special to look forward to this festive season. Brandy and Monica Have Always Been on the Same Page
Countless fashion moments have marked the illustrious careers of Brandy and Monica—and they discuss many of them in the latest installment of Life in Looks—but let's start with the one that has launched a million memes: the tri-strap, block-heeled white sandals Monica wore for 1995's 'Before You Walk out of My Life' video. 'Baby, the white shoes? If I could recall who put them out, I would give them a call—do you understand me? They got it right until they got to my feet!' Monica says of the questionable footwear. A far less polarizing look graced the cover of Brandy's debut album the year prior. 'I wanted to be different, I wanted to showcase my braids, I loved hats at the time, so I wanted to have that hat swag,' she says of the cream separates and brown newsboy cap. 'And Brandy's braids were the thing,' Monica adds. While both women have flexed their individuality over the years—Monica often in over-the-knee boots ('you could bury me in a pair,' she says) and Brandy donning a durag to an awards show in 2000 ('I thought I needed to be a little hip-hop, she remembers—they've also been known to coordinate. Their seminal 'The Boy is Mine' video saw them in a range of monochromatic looks, and for the Grammy Awards in 1999, they both wore shades of white. Monica's look that evening was especially memorable: fresh from the Chanel runway. The singer had recently spent time in Paris with Karl Lagerfeld and the house team. 'A fitting with the Karl Lagerfeld is just something you don't forget,' she says. Brandy's response? 'I'm lowkey mad that you didn't take me with you to Paris to meet all the Chanel people,' she says. Fast-forward to 2020 when the two reunited for a Verzuz performance. Monica opted for a bustier with a matching jacket and hat—all made from the same monogrammed Fendi trench—while Brandy slipped into jeans, a white turtleneck, and an ikat-print jacket. Their cameos in Ariana Grande's 'The Boy is Mine' remake video called for all black, and when they announced their forthcoming tour, they did so by releasing photos of themselves in white straight jackets made from microphone and headset cords—a nod to how they've been 'wrapped up' in the music industry for 30 years, Monica notes. 'I'm just happy that it finally happened,' Brandy says of the tour. We all are. Above, watch Brandy and Monica reflect on their Life in Looks. I Know What You Did Last Summer director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson teases possible sequel
I Know What You Did Last Summer director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson has "a plan of what could be next". The 37-year-old filmmaker helmed the 2025 slasher, and has now revealed she has already started to think about a sequel – though refused to give any details about the possible follow-up. She told Screen Rant: "I do have a plan in mind of what could be next. I cannot tell you." Even so, the director teased she'd like Brandy Norwood's Karla – who appeared in the 1998 sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer as Julie James' (Jennifer Love Hewitt) roommate – to have a part in a potential follow-up after she cameoed in the mid-credits scene of I Know What You Did Last Summer. Robinson said: "I wanted Brandy in this film. And again, a lot of the cameos, a lot of the choices made—they just had to be the right thing. Not just for the character and for the franchise, but for this version of the movie and the story that we were telling. "So for me, to catch up with Brandy where we find her in the film, and to know that Julie James is a character who has shut everybody out—she left Southport, she abandoned Ray, she doesn't really have any friends, she lives by herself—that person wouldn't necessarily have kept up with anyone. "So bringing them back together was really fun, and I loved being able to do that." I Know What You Did Last Summer sees the return of Jennifer Love Hewitt's Julie James and Freddie Prinze Jr.'s Ray Bronson as they try to help a group of teens escape the clutches of a masked killer following a hit-and-run cover-up. The horror flick also saw the surprise cameo appearance of Sarah Michelle Gellar's ill-fated Helen Shivers – who met a grizzly end in the original 1997 I Know What You Did Last Summer. Reflecting on his wife's shock return, Prinze Jr. said he was "glad" he was able to keep quiet about Gellar's secret comeback. Freddie told PEOPLE he "knew from jump" that Sarah would be in the new movie, adding: "We were all really excited for audiences to get to see that and get a little bit of extra love that they weren't expecting. "It's nice to know a secret, and to know how well-received it's going to be, months and months before it ever goes out there. "To hear the reaction that people have had, because I know some other people that have seen it, they're all like: 'Oh, my God, you didn't tell me! That was the best.' "I'm like, 'Yeah, it was the best one. Everybody always loves her.' To give people another taste of that, I just think was awesome. I'm glad everyone made it happen."
